@Storytimekellan3 Ok. Well that's something you'll have to take up with SDtv instead. Because like I said, I honestly never played Madden NFL 2005, so I really don't have an opinion on it personally. coming from someone who grew up mainly on the PS2, I think the best part of this game is the soundtrack. Green Day, The Hives, Franz Ferdinand, even Chevelle.

I went back and played a 05 few years ago and saw they had this in there. me and my pops used to play Madden 98 on pc I don't think it was in there. it really might only be in Madden 05 to be honest lol
@@b1bbscraz3y the only Maddens I played were 04 and 05. Played each one so much that I burnt myself out on them.
04 and 05 you could create you own plays also. I made 4 running plays and 3 passing plays that I’d use to torch the computer and friends with all the time. Each play was custom trickiness and could switch with audibles on the fly without changing formation. I was damn near unstoppable.
Now it's all about micro transactions and MUT. Online gaming has really hurt the single player gaming experience it goes beyond Madden believe me.
Very true. In a sense online gaming has been killing video games altogether. Hell, some games are online only nowadays.
Intercepting Fist Black Ops 4: What?! There’s no such thing! We always have a story...!
*cowardly* *runs* *away*
Tone I’m of the same thought. It was so much fun to have long dynasty modes and trying to make sorry teams better. Now, it’s absolutely about money plays for online modes and all that bull shit.
Tone I been saying this for years now. While MUT is fun, EA stopped caring about the gameplay and progression of the game. The only content that matters is MUT.
@@hectorcastro5659 MUT is anything but fun
Madden 2005 is the game that had me hooked, it was the last game my cousin (Eddie George) was in and I had so
Many great teams in that game as well as it coming out right before my favorite team won the super bowl . I was unbeatable with the eagles or colts in that game
Eddie George is your cousin?
Madden 05 was fantastic. I still own it!
Same!
These videos made go re-purchased all these games. Been out of the game for a minute and stopped playing madden after madden 08 due to my career and family/kids, but I’m back at it again. Thanks for the videos. It helped me remember why I spent countless hours playing these game when I was younger lol
That was the last time i could say i truly loved madden ..it was immersive
I bought a Madden 2005 copy for $6 used at Game X Change even with the disc cleaned, I had massive fun with it and still will.
"it's because the ppl in charge of Madden no longer care" yeah sounds about right
What I'd do to go back to these days. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug
"IGN, who had more credibility at the time" AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!
I wouldnt go that far... They refused to rate 2K higher no matter what.. I am to lazy to look but they always had Madden .1 or so higher than 2K.
@@Slylok226 maybe they had a different opinion than you
I bought this version of Madden from a Blockbuster video during a hurricane in Florida. Businesses were closed, but Blockbuster was open, so I picked up a copy to play as we waited out the storm. I still have it in my drawer upstairs.
In madden 2005 the game could read the name on the back of your jersey
I'm still playing this game now. I tried some of the newer Maddens but I always came back to this one.
I must admit: I never played Madden NFL 2005 (owned 2K5 as well as both Madden 04 and 06). But everyone said the same thing: it was really EA's last GREAT Football game, and definitely their best NFL game to date.
@Storytimekellan3 Ok. Well that's something you'll have to take up with SDtv instead. Because like I said, I honestly never played Madden NFL 2005, so I really don't have an opinion on it personally. That said, I have played 08, both on the next-gen Xbox360 and PS3 of the time, along with owning a PS2 copy of it. IMO, 08 was good, as it was the last one that didn't go too far with the gimmicks in gameplay while still keeping it simple as a sim when it came to picking up a quick game or two.
I've been telling people to this day, Madden 05 was the best football game ever. The amount of defensive control alone made it incredible.

Ya got a console to play it on

Bought it for $2 at an antique store
Best $1 you ever spent huh 😏

SOFTDRINKTV, because of watching your video on Madden 05 I decided to go back and play it on my Xbox and guess what? You are absolutely right of how much fun it really is to play, I even bought Madden 07 as well
06 is probably my favorite but they all are good.
"... gave EA the confidence to score the rights..." lmao they were scurrd
I'm a 2K5 guy (and TECMO Super Bowl, and Bill Walsh 95) but Tony Bruno blowing you up over starting a rookie and stirring things up sounds fascinating...
I haven't bought Madden since Madden 17 (which I returned after like two weeks because the gameplay sucked), nor do I plan on buying a new Madden anytime soon.
Gabingston same here, a 14 year old football game is outshining Madden til this day. Just try & fathom that for a second. EA is 🚮
Do you watch all the same videos I do?
@@mikerivera373 It does seem like we have a large overlap in what we watch.
I was ranked 13th online play in this one, favorite game of all time!!
this and 2k5 the best football games ever made hands down im still playing them over the new garbage
Facts!
This IS the best Madden, and what I love about these old sports games is they look smooth, graphics are so good these days they don't really work with sports games, players & just gameplay in general look slow compared to games like this
This is the best madden ever, and its the only one that can give NFL 2K5 a run for it's money.
Facts!
I remember being so excited to buy the new madden. Was filled with joy coming home opening it up and putting into my ps2 waiting to see the new Game on my screen. I don't remember the last time i had that feelign for a new madden game.
When you realize he's playing on Gamecube.
@@internet2055 No...you can tell by the icons above the players head when he throws a pass.
He’s playing on dolphin emulator which is a game cube emulator. That’s how he can play in 4k
You can tell its gamecube by the better grass textures
Think I've watched this video like 12 times. I was 17 when this game came out. Still playing it today awesome
I forgot about the cards! This video is great I'll surely be putting in some time with this. This and '95 are my favorite maddens.
My buddy just bought an OG Xbox and found this game at his moms house. We’ve been playing this game for days and it’s so much fun. Played the mini camp mode for like 4 hours the other night. Great memories man. It’s honestly kinda depressing though. Madden 23 doesn’t compare…
I love 2K5, but man this game’s franchise mode is hard to beat. Plus there’s just something about the soundtrack and the Tony Bruno Show that make this game on par with 2K5’s presentation in my opinion
The difficulty is a good thing tho
two timing touch and broken bones!
John Wiggins By hard to beat I mean in terms of being the best, not difficulty, lol
@@PlayThenReview oh shit mb true
The fact you're playing this on the GameCube takes me back because I also had it on the same system 🎉
I'm playing it now on GC with the Detroit Lions in Franchise Mode
@dameinmontgomery7623 it's a classic
Back to the glory days.... Micro transactions killed everything....
The exclusive license killed it
@@Anytyme06 no cause we got 06-12 which were great and then became good but after microtransactions came in to the gaming world madden died
Another great video. Cheers mate
On top of all the amazing things about Madden 2005, it was also fun to play.
Bought this game and some other maddens again cause of this channel you wont regret if you like playing football games that are actually good
me and my friends we played madden first then we got 2k and didnt look back..
Thank You! I still play 05 Franchise Mode to this day.
My favorite part of the game! Challenging and rewarding.
I still play madden 05 on GameCube. It’s better than madden 20
coming from someone who grew up mainly on the PS2, I think the best part of this game is the soundtrack. Green Day, The Hives, Franz Ferdinand, even Chevelle.
2k5 outsold Madden on ps2/xbox. Madden 2005 sold more overall due to being released on multiple platforms back in 2004.
2k5 was $20 back then so....
@@GymRat202 We all know that rat bastard
2k5 only outsold Madden on the Xbox, it was scaled down on the PS2, and in turn sold less
@@NickVanHalen Wrong
@@andrewmoore7927 no, 2k5 only sold better on the Xbox, you can look that up, it's fact
Madden 05 is my favorite Madden of all time. My Dad and I would play years of Franchise. It was basic arcade style play, the more they try to put into Madden the more the experience was watered down for my Dad and I. I have good memories with my Dad that sadly will never be recaptured.
"Exclusive licensing" should fall under the same rules as a monopoly.
Such a great vid man thanks for reminding us of the golden age of sports games
I hope I'm not the only one here still playing Madden on Ps2 ^^
I just played this game a little while ago and this game is great! Love the golden era of Madden. From 04-08 it was the greatest
Loved it. My favorite maddens were '05, '06, and '08. After that they started to suck.
06? barf
This was my jam. I played the sh*t outta this game and loved every second.
you didn't mention the europe league teams
I was in college when madden 05 dropped, we had 5 of us who rushed our frat rented a two story house together and one guy had a 70 inch TV, back then it was the MASSIVE box tv's lol. We had an xbox and started a franchise mode where we all had a team (I was the steelers) and would sit around drinking, smoking, playing guitar and watching each guy play their games. Good times.
You weren't kidding when you said soon
FYI: the 1986 NFL # 1 draft pick was Bo Jackson by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He elected to play baseball for the K.C. Royals however due to an unscrupulous move by the Bucs owner at that time & vowed to never play for the team...
What's up my favorite youtuber of all time
I like how the graphics on Madden and ncaa 05 were mixed between-before 05 games and after 05 games
Imagine 05 with superstar mode, supersim, and the truck stick. Would there even be a question about whether it was better then 2k5?
I think it was already better
patrick holt ik but there would probably be no more conversation.
DUDE i didn't remember the newspaper. After every week I really liked to see if my team made a good impression, nostalgia hit me hard
Softdrinksports make a video about the history of the football sports games, like from the first game to now, it's a suggestion
More realistic idea - History or Madden. Features as they came in and as they left, etc.
This game has always been my favourite of all the Madden game I have played. Franchise more was fantastic.
