Just got this game for my ps2, even upgraded the system with the hdd to unlock video replays for half-time/post-game, what a game. It definitely captures the feeling of GameDay. It also feels more like I'm making football logic decisions to succeed rather than video game logic decisions.
Not even gonna lie… I didn’t know you could do all this with the controls. Explains why I find it such a challenge trying to play it with the simplicity of Madden. I’ve been sleepin!
I brought this game when it came out for 20 bucks. I didn't even play football games since Madden 99 😅😅. Im just now learning how to play in 2023 and yes its the goat of Football games. 2k5 and All Pro Football 2008. I should have gotten into football more in the PS and PS2 era.

The nfl saw that 2K was lowering the price of their games for consumers as a business and competition strategy, and of course the NFL didn't really want future madden and 2k titles to drop down in price, so they offered EA an exclusive license to keep future nfl titles priced at the minimum of $49.99 The nfl saw 2K's strategy as devaluing its brand. in an alternate universe, life is good.
kiam- 48hour records played this as a kid and just got it last week and it’s sooo much better then I remember as a kid I didn’t realize how great this game is. I can play this like it was made in 2020

Something not mentioned in the offensive controls is that you can flip the play using rt/r2 after pressing the audible button. You can also flip the side a run play is going by pressing rs/r3 after pressing the audible button. Basically the same function as the "playmaker" pre snap controls in madden.

It’s crazy how much you can do and this was made 2004, madden graphics but this game play and in-depth franchise mode with player scouting before games added madden 08 superstar mode all in one game , I pay 200 for That game they would never have to make another game just only to upgrade the graphics but that’s it
Electro Duck ok so basically the right stick controls the d-line and all adjustments(down-pinch)(up-spread)(left-slide left)(right-side right) so what I do is either slide to the side the running back isn't on or where I'm thinking the run will go. Pinching is good when you are trying to contain a run up the gut and spread is good when blitzing or pass situations or if you think they are running outside like a toss or stretch and I find spreading the line has better pass rush and I believe L2 is linebacker adjustments and they adjust the same exact way as the line I personally always spread them in passing situations and pinch/ slide to the side I think they are running. I believe R2 is secondary adjustments and I personally guess a lot so for example if I'm playing man I will always flick the right stick left so my corners won't get beat inside and vice versa with coverage and there's other adjustments but those are the main ones
Learn what each defensive formation consist of and what it’s strengths and weakness are and how to adapt, like you probably don’t want to call a dime defense on 3rd and short
What bs did you notice if you could explain? This game is not trash but there is a lot pros and cons about it for a game that came out in 2004 its one of the best games ever
@@Showoffduty presentation wise yes it’s one of the best, gameplay wise not really. The freedom really isn’t there for player movement. It feels like you’re playing a coded football game idk how else to explain it fr. The plays are so bare minimum, and idk it’s fun for the first 2 hours of having it but after playing everything it’s already boring.
@@dj-yf5cl Explain to me how the routes are good routes? And I don't even like madden, I'm just pointing out the obvious. Sometimes the oline is just as bad as madden, and they'll instant sack you, and other times receivers take 5 seconds to go over 20 yards.

It flows organically and feels responsive, whereas Madden gameplay feels rigid.

How do you double team a receiver? Pulling the left trigger or bumper doesn’t bring up their receiver icons! Wtf??
Once you press the icon of the defender then the icons will appear on the offense so you can double team the player you want.
Why didn't the PS two version have these tutorials, or were they in a place I never thought to check?

I like this game but the controls are so convoluted. Mainstream the controls and this game is better than any Madden.
