I'm actually playing through the first right now and this is announced...absolutely unreal. I've waited so long for Tomba to make a return. Hopefully Tomba 2 will be rereleased as well!

Agreed! I hope if they rerelease 2 they get it's framerate running smoother. I love the game (actually had a physical copy as a kid) but the fully 3D world and characters totally stressed the poor PS1.

@@mr.coffeeguy2853I wouldn't hold me breath for it, but Tomba 3 is one of the more realistic things to come from old semi forgotten retro games. After all one of the original creators is still in the games industry in some capacity and the game license isn't in license hell, so it's not completely impossible that there could at some point be a Tomba 3.
But I'm not going to start festering any hopes yet, I don't want to be disappointed.

The BEST news!!!! I played the demo disk that we got in a breakfast packet a hundred times when I was a kid before finally getting the full version on PS4 in 2013. Now I can revisit this legend on PS5. Thank you!!!!
Wow... Spyro, Crash, Klonoa and now Tomba. The return of the platformer and classic action adventure games. Now Konami just needs to remaster Mystical Ninja 64, Enix release Michief Makers, Hudson Bomberman Hero and someone brings back Banjo Kazooie and I will be one of the happiest gamers on planet earth.

@koruoshouji9960 Yeap, but I believe it was Enix that has the IP rights to that game. I gotta recheck that cause that's a mid 1990's game.
Honestly a remake of Mischief Makers either in a hand drawn style or a 2.5D style is needed. As for Banjo, Microsoft should get Vicarious Visions to remake Banjo after their great work with their Crash remakes. Now that they own Activision, the time is perfect for it and considering Rare talks about how they don’t like treading old ground a lot (Perfect Dark is the exception, but it’s their words not mine), someone has to take the helm.
A Gex Trilogy remaster also got announced.

It's been more than 20 years since i finished Tomba 2 and I've always thought about a Tomba 3 or 4... imagine if they'd push this... Also upgrading to todays graphics for the Tomba 3+ I'd genuinely start a Fund for this as I'm 1000% sure people would Hop on it... it's too much Nostalgia and the Fun i had to replay Tomba 2 was unreal...
In Tomba 2 there are many "Land Areas" that seem to be explorable but there's no content there, if they'd remake it, would they add in extra content that wasn't there? it'd be sooo cool to have NEW stuff that you'd need to explore or get Hints on... it'd genuinely feel as if u'd be playing it for the first time again!! Can't wait for the release to see what they do with Tomba!
Exactly, the water temple feels incomplete, as does the Kujara ranch, Donglin forest and the mine, all those areas leave you wanting to explore more, hopefully one day someone will at least make a mod that adds more things and events
@@Blackberry155probably the remake will create a patch that will be able to make it aplicable for DLCs and stuff. Every stage can be amplified to have at least 50% more content. That game can be a goldmine. It’s just so good
Tomba was the first time as a kid I learned that video games on CD-ROM could have fully animated cutscenes and it blew my tiny mind. Great to see my boy Tomba coming back.

Absolutely awesome to see Tomba come back! I hope we can get an Xbox version and Tomba 2 in the future! Also if it's possible, it would be great to have the original soundtrack as an option as well. Really excited for more info on this!

Apparently that change was made because the word "Tomba" means essentially "Grave" or "Tomb" in Italian, so the Pal Regions know the series as "Tombi" because it's just meaningless but still cute.
I made a Tomba art print last year and I was astounded at how few people remembered this game. My absolute favorite! I could cry right now

Never had the chance to play Tomba or Tomba 2 as I never got either of them for the PS one and they cost an absolute fortune now a days.

I played the demo for this game over and over and over as a kid. It was just so charming and the world was so well realised and full of character. Excited to see it getting a rerelease, I was literally thinking about the other day!
I love this, and would love the sequel get ported as well.
I still hopw that at some point it gets a full remake treatment.

Tomba actually fit pretty well in current indie space, not as a retro game for nostalga but as a legit metroid-adjecent unique adventure game, it's really good.

I literally cannot believe that this game is getting a re-release. It's so amazing that people are going to be able to experience this in a way more accessible way now. Still to this day I don't think I've ever played anything quite like Tomba, it's a real hidden gem and I'm glad it's getting a proper second chance on modern systems!
I wonder why they couldn't use the original soundtrack though? They're working with the original composer to re-create it all which is amazing but I do wonder what happened behind the scenes there. The original soundtrack is pretty iconic but I'm looking forward to hearing a new take on it in this new version!

for the first game, a remake instead of a port would be fine. Because starting from the fiery location, it becomes clear that the game was unfinished and began to be assembled from what was available: the cutscene with rain in the fiery caves is a vivid example of this.
