I think a lot of people probably remember this from a demo disc. Imagine booting up a demo disc to be pressented with this with no explanation as to whats going on. i got as far as possible. It was such an unsual game but was weirdly memorable. Trying to get the most out of it. Finding weird secrets that my siblings hadnt found. Definitly going to pick this up!
i thought i had all the demo disks when i was a kid.. i never remember a demo of tomba!.. i remember one of Tomba! 2.. where was this demo u speak of??
That's exactly where I remember this from. I have nostalgia from a demo disk I played over 20 years ago lol. Also Gex. Also I think I remember something about a guy in a red shirt with a laser gun jumping on floating rocks lol
I love Tomba 1&2!! This game, was, and..is still incredible today. I remember my mom and dad taking me to circuit city (Throwback Thursday) and the cover caught my attention right off the bat! Highly recommended.
Tomba! 2 was one of my favorite games when I was little, but I unfortunately lost it and never played the original Tomba. Both of them are some of the rarest and most valuable games on the original Playstation, so these remasters are great!
My most favorite game of all time. Ahh the Memories. Originally played it as a demo on the PlayStation. It was hidden on a compilation disc that came from a gamer magazine. After I played that demo. I bought the game and it forever had a special place in my heart.
Played a demo of it many times on a PS1 demo disc, but never owned the full game until it was released on the PS3 store, then I was finally able to get by where the demo ends, but still got stuck somewhere, so the rewind could be useful for a new future playthrough. The game is really underrated, and incredibly unique as you mentioned, great review!
I collected PS1 games back in the day and remember wanting to get Tomba 2 SO bad! Another sleeper game that many haven’t played is Tobal 2. It’s a 3D fighting game with a roster of 200 characters and a quest mode. The first one came out in the US but the sequel I don’t think made it out of Japan.
This game was so much fun.. I played the demo as a kid and always wanted to conplete the real game. 20+ years later, I bought and completed it recently and had a lot of fun
I remember playing just a demo of the game and it felt huge. I never even finished the demo! I was wondering why such a game would get so mixed reviews. I have never seen anything similar ever since.
Thank you for making this video. Truly. I’m very glad you enjoyed this game (you should really play Tomba 2 if you enjoyed 1 so much, it’s worth it). This game, and more so Tomba 2, are probably one of my all time favorite older games. I would not have known about the Limited Run website/sale of this special edition set and I’m so happy you mentioned that at the beginning of the video. I bought the ps5 Whoopie edition along with the controller as well. My life is made, thank you!!!
I only remember Tomba from that viral speedrun event where one guy was so awkward and cringy throughout the whole run, while the runner was hilariously trying to stay focused on the run.
My original exposure to Tomba! was on a PlayStation demo back in the days. Did I get the original game and I played the whole thing through to a fun game. It is not frustrating.
Out of all my original PS1 games I’ve grown to love over the years (and later decades), Tomba! is THE game I revisit more than any other - more than Digimon World q, more than Crash Bandicoot 2, more than Final Fantasy VII. The charm it has blended with unique platforming makes for, as you said it, “a lively world” for this game. Though I’ve completed it multiple times, this version is DEFINITELY worth a revisit. So happy other gamers out there get to experience this game that has been deeply woven into the fabric of my 90s childhood 😊
i was a HUGE fan of this game when it came out, (yes, i'm old), u forgot to bring up that ALOT of the reason it got lost to time for awhile was because when the ps2 released, a HUGE pro for it was that it was backwards campatitable with ps1 games. but Tomba, sadly was one of the very few games that DIDNT work on the ps2...
I agree with you about the CRT filters I personally like playing the older games on modern TV's especially with HD Upscaling I grew up playing them on the older TV's they look better on modern ones but I also agree that the option should be there for us to pick from because the more alternative choices we have the better
Really fun game. I'd love to have seen this game remastered a bit with higher quality sprites and at higher resolutions. But if not, im glad to see this game is at least made available on a madern platform.
When RG3 says he loves the game you can hear how flat he says it (especially if your a regular viewer) verse him not reading a script. I'm sure he enjoyed it but always funny how different he sounds reading something he wrote vs adlib
It doesn't display 4:3 on Switch as evident in the footage here. Those big bars top and bottom covered with the background theme (thankfully can be made black in the game) aren't presents on other formats like PS5. The game should be scaling to the vertical axis but doesn't.
I have both of the Tomba games in my PS1 collection. I love them! I am looking forward to the Switch release. Just sucks how long I will have to wait for that Limited Run physical release. They really need to figure out a better formula. It will take a yesr for me to get this thing.
Once he said, limited run, I immediately clocked out because they're a horrible company who fires, people simply get excited over a video game. I love sean.I think he's a great dude. But I cannot support limited run games.
Take a shot every time Shaun mispronounces the game title
I died. RIP me. RIP Shaun's comment section. It's all the same comment.
Jokes on you, the game was called Tombi in Europe
@@raptros He would still be incorrect then 😅
@@GoldPoptartI'm more interested in the whole biting with his neck thing, Shaun must've been playing Soul Reaver or something..
TOOMBA 😂😂😂
Still waiting for a buggs bunny lost in time remaster.
Big Chungus Lost in TYME
Really hope they'll do it, such a lovely game
I miss that game so much. My cousin and I would always play that when we would spend the weekends at Grandma's.
Yesss king!
One of my favorites.

That's exactly where I remember this from. I have nostalgia from a demo disk I played over 20 years ago lol. Also Gex. Also I think I remember something about a guy in a red shirt with a laser gun jumping on floating rocks lol
I remember the demo was surprisingly long, for a while I thought they messed up and it was the full game.
@@TurleS13 blasto....
I’ve looked forward to playing this game again for over 20 years. I am sooooo excited to play it again
I emulated it a few years ago. Still fun.
@NecroBanana I emulated part 2 recently. it's ok too. but not as memorable as 1. at least in my opinion.
I thought the game pronounced as Tom-ba
It is, you are correct 😁
It is. He's dumb
Tombi
You thought right! 😂

Pecker Dupree is a legendary name.
I remember having played this on a ps1 demo disc i think the disc even had midevil
yep
I had that disc
Same. It was on the demo disc that came with the Dual Shock PS1 i got for Christmas in 98!
That demo disc was amazing! The demo for Tomba was actually kind of long too if I remember.
Oh yes It did..😢
Now if they would just remake Herc's Adventures on PS1 I would be so excited.
It’s on the store for 5.99
I would love a remake, but hey at least its on PS plus classics i think.

The original was Tombi in the uk
They need to re release musashi for ps1.
Tomba 2 next year already announced
Nice ! Glad to hear it’s coming …

Downloaded this before I passed out last night. Time to play. :)
Thought this was a weird thing to do a video about at first but it actually sounds pretty unique as well as interesting.
I absolutely love this game. Ive been playing since '97. Recently played thru on an emulator. I just got the special edition.
Somehow the writing for this is better than modern gaming
whats a toomba
Bro called him Tumba
Kinda wondering when it's coming to PS4...
This reminds me of Joe and Mack from SNES
I think there’s a 2nd game too.
I had no idea this was announced, always wanted to try this game. 19.99 is a great price too
Can it be played on the Intellivision Amico? ‡

My version on the switch crashes constantly , help ?
Sadly there are lots of reports about this. Make some noise and force LRG and MVG to fix these issues.
