yeah, AAA game devs are too big to experiment now. its sad. but at least we have indie devs to save the day. i might try and be one in the future. i have zero experience in making a game, but there are so many game ideas i have that none of the big companies are doing and i want the void filled like how the dev for Stardew valley got sick of waiting for a more fleshed out story of seasons game, they said, f*ck it and did it themselves.
@@MonoDree tbh they are not too big to experiment by accident, it's deliberate because they want to make a billion dollar investment that makes 10 times those billions and has infinite life time of microtransactions, or if it's on a lower scope something that is safe and recognizable to not risk losing money they could have this with AAA if they set the scope lower and budgeted accordingly but companies don't want to invest a million to make 2 millions anymore, simply being profitable is not enough they have to be either permanently profitable or exceed any investment tenfold

Can't wait! I liked the old demo but thought that it didn't do much with the mechanics of the games that inspired it (Tomba, Mischief Makers, Klonoa), and now I'm relieved to see that the game is shaping up great.
Saw the name DoubleShake and in my head I heard “shake shake!”, which got me really excited. That with the visual style of Tomba and the level design of Klonoa has me really psyched for this!

I like to call this sort of game a "grapple platformer"; where the primary way of interfacing with the world is grabbing things. _Mischief Makers_ and the _Klonoa_ games are great examples of this, and it's clear this game is *reaching* for the same idea.
