Welcome to the second episode of my new series
BADASS BACKSTORIES, with your host, Apex Ashan. Today we will be covering the origins of the Star Fox Villain, Andross, If you have an idea of a character that you want to be featured on "BADASS BACKSTORIES", then leave a comment down below.
Extra Info: Andross was featured in Super Smash Bros Brawl, for Wii U and 3DS. He appeared as an assist trophy. This incarnation of him was based of his SNES design on the original Star Fox game, instead of his usual ape appearance. Andross (アンドルフ, Andorufu, Andorf), sometimes known as Dr. Andross is the main antagonist in the Star Fox series, and is the arch-nemesis of Fox McCloud. He is an evil mad scientist who is highly skilled in technology, telekinesis, and tactics. His forces have tried to take over the Lylat system many times. Exiled to the distant penal planet of Venom for his destructive and dangerous experiments with bio-technology, the mad scientist Andross has recently resurfaced as the supreme commander of a seemingly unstoppable military force. Striking without warning, his invasion fleets have overrun the minimal defenses outposts of the many planets in the Lylat system, and are even now attacking the most populous world in the system, Corneria. As a scientist on Corneria, Andross specialized in bio-technology and space warps. It is theorized that exposure to his own deadly experiments may have driven him mad. In the time since his exile, who knows how his continued experimental work may have affected him?

As far as backstories go, Andross is one of my favorites. My other favorites consist of: Albert Wesker, Dr Eggman, and Bowser.
Maybe I'll keep those in mind for next time 🤔. Damn I just realized I'm replying 4 years late 😅
Andross and Star fox as a whole are such underrated gems
Andross is Nintendo's most dangerous villain hands down. Even Ganon, as magically potent as he is, could only hope to amass planetary control at best. He was defeated by one kid with a magic sword. Andross actually mannaged to take over an entire system. It took the combined efforts of the entire system to beat him.
Given time I think Andross would have proven to be far more evil as well. His goal of taking over is not logically motive based. He isn't building a better future or undoing some past transgression. His plans are purly psychotic and his use of his intelligence has no restraint or accountability. He is perfectly content taking entire races and using them for biological weapon experiments. Not to mention he is persistent as fuck at surviving and rebuilding. Limitless technology and resources under the control of a biologically mutated super brain that cares only about dominating and experimenting. If the Venomian army had won, I have no doubt Andross would have betrayed them as well. Rendering his own loyal forces into test subjects.
It's too bad they don't treat this character with more respect in the franchise. Maybe they try not to because Andross can't be translated into a kid freindly experience like Bowser. Genocide is bad for buisness.
I think stages like Sector X really give you an insight into the truly unstable nature of Andross's psyche; You show up in a previously uninhabited sector of space, having been told that there is an enemy base there working on some secret weapon. You later find out that not only is the base gone, but that Andross's "secret weapon", a relatively advanced artificial intelligence piloting an incomplete robot, is responsible. And that's truly frightening; the fact that Andross is so intelligent that he is capable of creating intelligent artificial life and a "living" weapon powerful enough to wipe out a whole base and the hundreds of soldiers garrisoned there, so insane that he thinks nothing of letting these loyal soldiers die as fodder to test his new weapon, and so vain and egotistical that he would make such a weapon who's only thoughts at all are of meeting/worshiping his "creator", and destroying his enemies.
Then again, as for what you said about him being Nintendo's most dangerous villain... Giygas would have something to say about that.
Even staying within the same genre, I would pit Mother Brain against Andross. That would be a close battle.

He is, and when I did the "Enter Star Wolf" mission I was happy I shot him down.
In a way he's the reason why James McCloud is dead. The scumbag defected to Venom for money. Wolf on the other hand is just doing his job. Although its possible he just happened to be a childhood bully of Fox.

@@DAN007thefoxx1 Wolf has, on multiple occasions, demonstrated that is has some sense of honor. He kicked Pigma out of his team just because of how disgustingly selfish he was, and even helped out in Assault (and some endings of Command).

A lot of information is incorrect, and would likely cause any new starfox gamers to absorb false information, I've already found multiple cases where he didn't properly do research

Not 100% incorrect, but a lot of details were left out
1. Falco being the leader of how own gang of pilots.
2. Dinosaur planet was still in the Lylat system, it was only near the edge of it.
And 3. The Krozoa spirits where only HALF of the reason Dinosaur planet was falling apart, it was also due to the planet's core being unstable since the core stones were removed.
You still made a really good video, I do really like it, despite my making a fuss. Good job, keep up the good work.
That sounds like the opening text crawl from the intro of StarFox 64
What I like about his character is that hes a genius and knows what he wants and how to do it. He was once a good person but overtime he saw the crazy power in his experiments and it drove him insane as all he saw in his work was destruction that could help corneria but he was doing it on the planet itself and its sad as its stated or hinted that him and General Pepper were best friends at one point even a brotherly like bond. Which is why Andross is obsessed with killing Pepper for hiring Star Fox to kill him for good.

I’m not sure if someone’s brain can count as their true form because wouldn’t it just be the brain of their “true form?” or was the rest of Andross’s head also artificial? Like maybe skin grafted onto a frame surrounding his brain.
He destroyed his entire being, aside from his brain, so when you destroy his face, you are just destroying a shell, causing the only real part of himself to appear.
Andross brain could still attack and talk to fox so i think you could consider it was his true form

+Gray_FoxRJ Since that Comic was based off the original SNES Star Fox and Star Fox 64 was a Reboot/Reimagining of the SNES one it could of been out of canon since. Now I'm making Excuse Plots even more complex...
I'm happy to report that it wasn't rendered non-canon. Zero is more of a remake than a reboot. the overall story is the same, even though everything else is different.

Falco dropped out of the Academy, that does not mean he was a bad pilot. Falco hates structured environments and he would have been forced to work for the Corneryean Army. When Fox left, he followed knowing that Fox would need help during the war. After the Lylat wars he went off on his own as a mercenary until the Aperoid Invasion 8 years later when he reunited with Star Fox to finish off the dredges of Andross's army.

So wait, Andross actually turned himself into a giant brain? Inside some sort of biomechanical head? I always thought the head was some sort of hallucination/holographic projection.
No he conducted deadly experiments on himself so he turned into a giant floating monkey head on crack with big mechanical hands
In *_Star Fox 64_** [3D] (1997; 2011),* there are two difficulty routes that span through 7 missions out of 15 to get to Venom. Though they look similar in the map of the Lylat System in-game, the levels themselves are completely different.
The *"Normal Mode" Route* has the player fight the *"Golemech,"* and then Andross, but it's only a robotic double of himself. After both the fight and the end credits, you'll hear Andross's laughter and see his head onscreen, meaning that you didn't defeat *the **_real_** Andross.*
The *"Hard Mode" Route,* however, has you fight against the *Star Wolf Team* -- a rival mercenary team led by *Wolf O'Donnell* -- before facing off against Andross. This time, however, when his skin cover is destroyed, Andross's *_"true_** form,"* as Fox puts it, is revealed -- a large floating disembodied brain and two floating laser eyes attached to it via strands of electrical energy with squid-like tentacles (likely the *nervous system)* underneath. He even makes a pun about it, saying this now-infamous line: *"Only I have the brains to rule Lylat!"*
After killing Andross, escaping from the crumbling base -- like something from the *"Second Death Star" scene* in the Steven Spielberg movie *_Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi_** (1983)* -- with James' supposed "ghost" guiding the way *_and_* the end credits, the screen will simply say *"The End,"* meaning you defeated Andross once and for all.

All I remembered at the time of when I was younger was a Fox with a magical staff in a Dinosaur Plant. This video was helpful in better understanding Star Fox Adventures has a story.

Why is he a floating head
As a Starfox fan I came up with the theory that might explain why were Andross went mad. And just had to work hard to be the scientist he was, but he was insanely jealous at James McCloud because James had everything, especially a beautiful wife named Vixy that Andross lusted over. So Andross thought up a plan about planting a bomb on James Car. But when the car exploded and Andross went over to see if he killed James, he founded devastating shocked that he killed Vixy instead. It killed the woman he loved dearly so that might be a reason why he went insane. And why Fox has no mother.

Yeah I don't think Andross is dead either. I mean he "died" in Starfox 64 yet in Adventures he is back yet again. He also came back in that Titania Incident comic. If he is somehow revived in Starfox Zero it really wouldn't come off as a surprise. I just think the whole Assault side story with Andrew was just to give you the feeling that even without Andross people still remain loyal to him so you in a way still feel his overall influence even though he is not in the game. Also Ganon has died in Twilight Princess yet in a game in the same timeline Four Swords Adventures which is AFTER Twilight Princess Ganon returns acting behind the scenes as the true enemy of the game manipulating both Dark Link and Vaati.
Andross died in Star Fox 64, but his spirit merged the Krozoa Spirits to make a new body to revive himself. Also, Ganon wasn't resurrected in Four Swords Adventures, he was reincarnated.

+CL Chaos Is it bad? There was a lot of background noises I had to edit out, and this was my second attempt at recording already.
I wouldnt say it's bad it just sounds like you back away from your mic or u get muffled I can still hear what your saying but half way in the quality drops happens on the 2nd video as well.
I'm recording with my iPhone, and if anyone comes into my room, I would have to stop recording... :P This may sometimes lead me to forgetting exactly where I held my hand when recording, which I think may be the cause.

Star Fox 64 was awesome
If Nintendo followed the story line from the Nintendo Power comic, it would've been far more successful, easier to continue the plot for sequels, darker story telling, deeper history, and more interesting characters. I can see Fara would be a more interesting love interest than Krystal for Fox. Krystal was thrown in so fast at the last second that even Krystal forgot why she was involved in any of it after her intro plot.

Well, yes, but actually no, their games have a Linear Story, yet it kinda got Rebooted 1 or 2 times kinda, on the SNES we have the first Game, then we got a trilogie of Starfox 64, Starfox Adventures and Starfox Assault, then everything has been put back to 0 somehow with Starfox Zero - no Pun intended

It was the best place of information that had it all piled up accordingly. I looked at other sources of information and they all pretty much covered the same things.

I wrote out a script on word and read from that, but I guess I never noticed how much stayed the same. The story was already in a perfect format so I couldn't change much.

I mean the character *Lena "Tracer" Oxton* (voiced by *Cara Theobold* in English versions) from the Blizzard Entertainment video game series *_Overwatch_** (2016-present)!*
In her backstory (from my knwoledge), she was an ace pilot -- and the youngest, at that, as she was *18* at the time (now *27* as of *_Overwatch 2_* since October 4th, 2022) -- who was hand picked to be the test candidate for the experimental teleporting fighter jet named the *_Slipstream_* one day in early 2068.
Unfortunately, during her maiden test flight, the aircraft's onboard *teleportation matrix somehow malfunctioned,* catapulting both the _Slipstream_ and Tracer -- who was still trapped inside, unable to eject -- into some sort of *time warp,* resulting in her being declared *M.I.A. ("Missing in Action")* and later *"Presumed Dead"* by now-former Overwatch Strike Cmdr. *Jack "Soldier: 76" Morrison.*
A few months later, however, Tracer was found alive, but had a tragically *different look.* When her accident with the _Slipstream_ happened, it severely *desyncronized her molecular structure from the constant flow of time,* causing her to *disappear for hours, days, if not weeks at a time* before randomly *reappearing like a ghost,* rendering her unable to maintain her physical form.
The doctors who saved her -- including *Angela "Mercy" Ziegler* (voiced by *Lucie Pohl)* -- couldn't figure out how to treat this newfound disease, one they had now dubbed *"Chronal Dissociation Disorder."* It seemed that Lena would eventually die from this disease within a matter of hours, if not days, or just simply be lost in time.
That was, until *Winston* -- a genetically enhanced gorilla who currently serves as a part-time scientist and field agent, as well as a good friend -- came up with a way to at least stabilize Tracer's condition. Over the course of a few days, Winston developed a device now called the *Chronal Accelerator,* which not only helped anchor Tracer to the present time flow, but also give her control of her own time.
She was even given new abilities related to time (although I'm sure it took some getting used to at first). With these abilities, she could speed up time or slow it down at will, giving her an edge in speed, maneuverability and agility, *even in combat.* Some time later, she became a field operative for Overwatch, as well as the Tracer we know today.
After that... *we know the rest.*

+Carlos Ruiz (InfamousCLR) Yea I kind of did that by accident. I used a bunch of sources but arwingpedia was the main one. I guess I didn't "Summarize" as much as I thought I did. I was reviewing what I said and realized most of it was just said the way it's written, I was kind of bummed out to be honest because I put a lot of effort compiling everything I needed to say, I have no idea how it ended up like that. I guess I didn't pay enough attention? It's not too big of a deal though because I originally intended "Badass Backstories" to be a show that's literally read of the Wiki of a character, however I decided to not do that anymore after making the first episode with Master Hand. I know most of everything (Except the ending of Part 2 I guess) was read off the website, but I couldn't really think of a better way of explaining the events of Andross' backstory. Everything happened chronologically and all the details were already said, there really wasn't much to alter to begin with. I did my cite my sources however with the link in the description so there's that. :P ...Man I wrote a lot...
