I loved this games style and atmosphere as well as Aegis herself.

Very cool review! I liked the focus on what makes Steelrising unique - It actually helped me decide to check this out! Thanks! 😁

I mean before the Soulslike Genre was a Thing, many forgot that Games like Ninja Gaiden were before that Area and made a Milestone on it's own. But nevertheless Great Review! For someone who wants to know something of the Game I came to the Right Channel! :)

Nice! Glad you liked it! And I agree, it's not like Souls‐likes have a monopoly on depth or challenge!

@@adamscottgames Btw. Lies of Pi has a Similar Setting with the Steampunk Setting. Is this the only thing you can compare the 2 Games beside the "soulslike" Aspect?

      Code Vein! That's super underrated!

@@gamingguru1137 Code vein while good and the first soulslike I played where I actually liked the combat (fromsoft combat has always felt boring and "hard" to me because it is outdated ps2 era combat) I prefer Nioh 2. Code vein is easily in my top five though along with the latest lords of the fallen, out of those two I have no idea what I would slot as my second favorite as both are so different and trade spots at number two based on the combat I feel at the time.
While I have 160 hours in elden ring it is not even in my top five as the combat versus main story bosses was so boring and bad that while really enjoying the open world and non story bosses the combat and story bosses just killed the enjoyment for me to the point that I am unsure if I will even get the DLC as I am worried that instead of making challenging story bosses they are just going to do the auto tracking AoE spams of the main game story bosses.
Top five (in no order) Nioh 2, code vein, lords of the fallen (new one), remnant 2 (my personal GOTY last year, since cyberpunk 2077 PL is an expansion and not a new game so can not pick that.....by my own reasoning) and not sure if I would go remnant from the ashes or wo long (the combat is simplistic like fromsoft but I enjoyed the boss fights).

@Victorgramatron Haven't played Lies of P yet but really dug both Surge games. They were the first non Fromsoftware soulslikes to do something a bit different.

@@Wintersoldier73 Funny thing! I actually JUST started playing that game and I can definitely see what you’re talking about so far. I keep hitting circle when I mean to dodge and that camera is rough. Though, I feel like once I can get a good feel for the controls, I’ll have a good time with it. It’s definitely the type of game that I tend to dig.

My only issue with this game was that it made me sick, and this is the only game that I had this issue with. I had to play with the graphics setting/tracking distance, etc. Outside of that, it was good & I had no clue those difficulty settings were available.

@adamscottgames I think it was my monitor. I had mentioned in one of your videos a while back that my PS5 had died on me. When I picked up my replacement, I decided to go with my TV & I haven't had any issues since.

To be brutally honest, all i see when i cast my view upon a difficulty slider or something like this game has is wasted developer resources (if theyre extensively tested and balanced around each mode) that could have been used to improve the core gameplay, in this case improvement of crappy animations and optimization of performance on all platforms. Being able to adjust the settings on the fly is very convincing evidence to me that the game was in no way balanced around any combination of them and is literally just activating cheats to make it easier. Theres enough easy aaa slop out there to please the masses, please let me experience some high quality harder games. Not that i find Souls likes to be particularly hard though. Horizon Zero dawn is not known for being very hard because its a normie game that they dont touch ever again after having started it on default once but it has like 6? different difficulties, one of them is even labeled as being intended for new game plus if i remember correctly. I started on the second hardest and the game is harder than any Souls like out there just because of the completely out of whack balancing and not in a fun way in a lot of cases. I never tried the hardest one but i can only imagine how terrible that one must be. At least in that case it warns you that it wasnt meant to be played like that. I dont think these modes were heavily tested or put care into, they literally just pushed up a slider to make numbers go big.

You’re a good example of the sliding scale for difficulty. Soulslikes are generally assumed to be hard. So a “balanced” game for you likely feels very different from a “balanced” game for someone else.

@@adamscottgames TLDR: Not every game has and should not try to appeal to everyone in my opinion, its a waste of resources.
I play tons of games which arent hard even though i really like hard games and usually start every game blind on the hardest difficulty there is. I would be glad i we could finally outlaw 30fps on consoles but i would never want Nintendo to patch in a hard mode in their games just to appease me. They usually have a relatively organic difficulty which ramps up in the game itself and is fine.
      Long part you didnt read:
When i write unbalanced im talking about the balance in whatever game that difficulty all of a sudden renders half your equipment or skills completely useless because they were simply not created for them. Its called game design and its simply thrown out of the window in a lot of the games that try to appeal to everybody with 5 different modes. The games are usually designed around the default difficulty where your heal items are capable of actually healing you because you can survive more than two random hits and your new fancy skills can help with dealing damage to make fights shorter but you still have to learn patterns and cant just ignore every mechanic in the game. Now look at these exact same games and on the easy modes all of a sudden everything you skill is completely irrelevant because you can just plow through the whole game by spamming one single skill our autoattack or whatever and mash a heal every now and then until the credits roll. On the other hand these same games hardmodes render heals useless because youre always out of them anyways if you dont learn how do dominate the mechanics of the game and most of the time you dont use 75%+ of your skills because theyre just locking you into animations and get you killed because the mobs dont die fast enough. Both extremes are just awful and even though i like playing nonsense like the Master mode in Breath of the Wild i would never call that mode balanced or well designed. Its extremely hard, full of nonsense and just straight up unfair pretty much the whole time. The enemies regen health from nothing to 100% if you leave a mob alone for a few seconds for example which is just absolutely dumb, especially while you have to deal with 5 other enemies who legit oneshot you all day and your weapon breaks after 2-3 enemies even in the best case scenario. Theres just straight up trashmobs in the game even in the very first area which you simply cant kill without farming tons of weapons or advancing further into the game to get loot which at that point has become completely pointless because its the easy mode stuff which you were supposed to have 30 minutes ago. You cant even kill the first two mobs in the ..tutorial.. with your weapons you usually have at that point because they break before the Moblins are dead. In short, they made numbers go big, and the game became a badly balanced joke which only masochists should touch. Master mode is a completely different game besides the visuals and not in a very good way, just a hard one.

Dark souls save prepared to die because the game developers specifically made the game to be extremely difficult and frustrating players into not playing it on purpose so he said in his own interview. Now everything is soulslike because of millennials
copycat compare culture born from lack of experience. I mean they were birthed into the world after all the awesome video game innovation had already happened and they just are sitting in the world of rewards so they don't know any better so everything to them is like everything else.😅 Souls like has become so annoying to hear people say tbf imo it's like saying Brah dawg fleek jiggy fresh bling bling or bout It bout It 🤦🏾‍♂️ awkward tryhard odd duck label applied to forehead lol
