i'm 45 and just retired 3 weeks ago. best thing i ever did. my heart rate is down, acid reflux almost gone, heart palpitations gone. i used to sleep 2-3 hours a night, and now i get at least 7. my memory is back. i feel amazing and never want to go back to the stress i had before. i started all the things i had always wanted to do like learn a language, take up hobbies, etc. in fact, i've lost 10 pounds just from reduced stress and more sleep. this is incredible.
I agree 100%! I also have sleep issues. But at least I can go back to sleep if I was awake during the night and not have to stress that the alarm is going to go off soon! 😁
Great update! Love how you described being immersed in a book and that feeling that you don't have to put it down. Looking forward to that! Two years for me!
I am also 56. Planning to retire early, but thinking I will work another year or two. Numbers say I could retire now, but I think it will be less stressful to have a little more cushion and also daughter closer to graduating. Does this make sense? Looking forward to more time to read and more time on fittness, outdoor activities, and with family... also hoping to sleep better after retirement. Your statement of "our days are numbered" is too true. Will be interested to hear if your sleep improves after a few more months.
I retired at the end of October at 57 and I love it! I feel the same. I am the happiest I have been in many years.

Glade you are enjoying it, I last worked mid 55 and 57 now and still wake up with a smile on my face - so happy 🙂

I'm 55 and was let go and decided to retire just over a year ago. I agree, haven't been this happy in a long time.
I am glad you are loving your retirement! Thanks for your comment!
