Hi everyone! It's Amon & Christina! We're so happy that we were able to share our story with CNBC! We had a great time. We hope that it inspires more people to pursue financial independence and to retire early!❤️❤️❤️
I have savings that I want to invest but I don't know how to, I need a professional guide on all these things left for me I will just be saving till I see something profitable to put my money in.
Lately, I've been contemplating retirement, uncertain whether my 401(k) and IRA will ensure a secure future. I've also invested $800K in the stock market, experiencing fluctuations without substantial gains.
Using a 401(k) or IRA is a valuable strategy for retirement planning, providing potential savings growth and tax advantages. While the stock market is promising, expert guidance is essential for effective portfOlio management
Opting for an invest-ment advisr is currently the optimal approach for navigating the stock market, particularly for those nearing retirement. I've been consulting with a coach for a while, and my portfOlio has surged by 45% since Q2.

Of course they worked hard and deserve it all, but let's not forget they bought many homes in the early 2000s in the bay area before the tech boom. Nobody making 90k/70k a year living in the bay area are buying multiple homes today.
Especially if some of those homes were bought around the 2008/2009 crash... They likely had some liquidity from previous sells (where they took advantage of the growing tech industry) and managed to really cash out selling and renting those homes out later.
@@korhonenemilia1816 Yeah exactly. There is noway anyone today in that salary range could ever do what they did. But kudos to them. Right place, right time.
@@rikachiu Yeah. The fact that they got lucky doesn't take away from all the hard work they put in before. Had they not saved up enough for those homes, they couldn't have taken advantage of the circumstances.
I really liked this episode! This family pursues a great goal - to spend time together with their children as much as possible. It took them some time and lots of effort but that was worth it. I personally reckon they’re a great example for all of us! I totally share their values. Work is not the thing people were created to give it all the time and energy. But the question is HOW to work less? It’s obvious that the less you spend the less you must work to make money. The fact is, an obsession with possessions distracts us from the very things that matter most in life-the things that money cannot buy. Children suffer when their parents don’t spend enough time with them. They don’t feel they are loved. That can even have long-term negative effects on their adult life. On the contrary, how much better it is when all family members just have meals together, have fun and communicate. Money cannot buy family happiness and unity. That only comes from spending time with your family and giving them adequate love and attention. I couldn’t agree more with this saying from the Bible: «Better to eat vegetables with people you love than to eat the finest meat where there is hate» - Proverbs 15:17. I find lots of practical advice from this wise timeless book. Where can you find how living by Bible standards can make you happy? It was awesome to see you on CNBC Make It. I've been following you for many years. Your videos are always inspirational! I've been semi-retired for the past 10 years and can't wait to be fully retired. I didn't focus on retirement when I was younger and wish I had made that a priority sooner. I always loved the businesses I created, so it never felt like work. But now that I'm older I don't want to waste any more time on things that aren't truly important to me.
I feel this is the wealth that I would want rather than having a billion dollars. Spending time with family, no worries about retirement and being young enough to enjoy traveling and other experiences.
Agreed, I think it's important to know how much you need and understand your numbers well instead of just always wanting more. Then you get to actually enjoy the freedom you've created for yourself!
How exciting to see you guys featured! Well deserved. I just discovered you a couple of weeks ago, and my husband and I have put together our FIRE plan. 😊 We're on track to retire early in 16ish years at this moment, but we're planning to speed things up once our son is in school and I'm working full time again.
So happy to see “our rich journey” featured! They’re both lucky to have each other to accomplish their goals with❤️. I hope to find a partner one day that embodies similar qualities as Amon.
"Our employer, when we lived in Spain and Japan, paid our housing cost." 70K and 98K salaries. Fully paid health care insurance. Of course, they made the right moves, but things like that help, a LOT.
@Dodd Frank Yep, I almost turned this off as soon as I heard "Working for the government." In a community where I used to live, near a lot of Federal Govt. and military facilities about half of the people there had retired in their 50s, and ALL of the people who retired in their 50s were govt. employees. The other people in the same community were private sector and were doing well, but practically none had plans to retire before their mid 60s.
I’ve been following you since 2021, and I feel a strong connection with your family. Like yours, I have two daughters, and I also dream of early retirement. Our mindsets seem so similar, which is why I love keeping up with everything your family does. God bless you all!

Kudos to you guys there aren’t many married couples with children making this happen on a regular salary. You guys rock. Congratulations on your success.
I like how he says that they wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them working together. I am by myself and I constantly feel like I just need a companion to make it happen, what I do alone is okay but not full force because it is just a little too much to handle on my own.
I heard about FIRE when I was in my 20s and dismissed it. Wish I started back then. I revisited the concept 3 months ago and not doing too bad but probably could have shaved off a few years before I retire early. It's worth it!
Find the number you feel you need every month, get into trading make the amount you need and then get out. Put the money in a high interest account and your safe if something should happen for emergency money. If you have some money to get started try and ask your family if you can move back home for a year to study and start making enough so you can rent somwhere the second year you will either be done or need one more year.

Thank you two for being an amazing example and achieving FIRE. The cliche is that “youth is wasted on the young” but you certainly squashed this with discipline, a vision, and a great attitude. Thanks for this, it was renewed my sense to continue my journey towards freedom. Keep it up and would love to get an update from you in a few years. God bless.
The life chemistry they sustain is incredible. Just look at the way how they both look at each other when their partner talks. So adorable!
What a gorgeous family! Amon and Christina’s partnership is solid. The way they set everything up for their future and that of their family is something to aspire to. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us! 🙌🙌🙌
Amon and Christina you and your children are a beautiful family. I love that you guys support each other, it shows how mature you are.
Amon and Christina are the definition of financial freedom goals but more importantly, their family aura is just the epitome of what a family that is loving, kind and works together.... can be. Just watch their YT channel (Our Rich Journey) and you will see what I mean! Love them to pieces!
Yes! I love how they blend everything, such an inspirational couple and channel!
98k+70k= 168k isn't bad dude especially In the early 2000's .see iam in no. Way saying that they didn't hard-work but . They said you don't need a 6 figure salary to reach fire but in this case does seem you need especially where they Lived California ain't cheap

The way they look at each other when one is talking shows their love and respect for each other. Beautiful.
We experienced the pinnacle of our era, but it is now gone. Like what happened to Rome, the corrupt administration will bring this nation to an end. My condolences go out to anyone who is close to retiring and may be worried about whether their pension will be enough to pay the rising cost of living. Insane fiscal policy, poor regulatory policy, poor energy policy, and poor foreign policy
50 and early retirement. I'm very worried about the future and where we're all heading, especially in terms of money and how to get by. I'm considering making my first investment in the stock market, but how can I do so given that the market has been in a mess for the majority of the year?
It's a wonderful moment to invest because equities are cheap, but I advise hiring a coach or an expert to help you.
@@bernardallen55 I can personally connect to that. I started working with Julie Anne Hoover, a fiduciary financial counselor, and my profits were assured. In such circumstances, I would always advise hiring a professional to help you through choppy markets and only give you indicators and strategies for figuring out when to enter and exit the market.
@@raynoldgrey Please tell me how I can think I have such skills. My funds are being murdered by inflation, therefore I'm looking for a more profitable investing strategy to put them to work.

Heyy
This is definitely one of my favorite money couples. They are absolutely incredible!
guys, it so good to see you on CNBC... you guys are an inspiration that shows that people with regular jobs can become financial independent if they believe in themselves and stick to the path. I hit FI this year but will work a couple more years (by choice) but i'm also very passionate about this topic and love all the information you provide on your channel. Keep up the good work!
They were my entry to the FIRE path. They were my inspiration 3 years back. I lost my way for sometime but again, they were the ones to bring me back to the path to FIRE. While I probably wont retire early coz I love my work and my colleagues and the company treats us quite well, I am more than halfway through to FIRE because of Amon and Christina. Love you guys and best wishes to your whole family
Amazing couple and lovely kids. They provide very powerful lessons in frugality while living quality life.
Finally CNBC. They are goals. Been following for 2 years. 💕
Talk about a couple with FIRE POWER! I was wondering when CNBC would pick them up! Gotta love the FIRE movement! 🔥
The girls will treasure the memories. Congratulations!

Of course they worked hard and deserve it all, but let's not forget they bought many homes in the early 2000s in the bay area before the tech boom. Nobody making 90k/70k a year living in the bay area are buying multiple homes today.
I have same question. The salary level is quite good but is it possible to buy 6 houses in the bay area?
And before the 08/09 crash. Time for a time machine!
I couldn’t agree more with this saying from the Bible:
«Better to eat vegetables with people you love than to eat the finest meat where there is hate» - Proverbs 15:17. I find lots of practical advice from this wise timeless book.
Yay!! It's so nice to see you both on here! Congrats on being featured, Amon and Christina
When you find that special person. Have that conversation of goals & a future. If it fits go for it while you young. ❣
Rather have a billion and spend time with my family and take them anywhere they want
exactly so true- we are aiming toward this life as well!
i am different i would have multimillion or billion and run a company in the engineering and medical sector and keep my brain busy till i die

This is life! Not working for so many years to retire old and sometimes not being able to enjoy the fruits of the hard work you put in for years.
Now these two are the couple goals! I love watching them!
Wow, this is such a great story! It’s so awesome to see that they where able to retire while their kids are still in grade school. Great video!

Ditto on the partner thought, how incredible to find someone with the same goals a mindset.

I love this family so much. What an awesome partnership. My husband and I have followed this couple for years now trying to learn from them. In that time we have become debt-free except for our mortgage and we hope to get to a place as well where we can retire early.
I love the Our Rich Journey family! Proud subscriber of their YT channel 💛
I heard about FIRE when I was in my 20s and dismissed it. Wish I started back then. I revisited the concept 3 months ago and not doing too bad but probably could have shaved off a few years before I retire early. It's worth it!
Better late than never. Good luck!
Don't look back. Just imagine how far you'll go from here!
