- A statehood demand which is more than a hundred years old is still in the hearts of the Indian Gorkhas. For a long time, Indian Gorkhas have felt left out by the different governments ruling them. Despite repetitive demands, memorandums, bills, protests, and violence, statehood is still a dream for the Indian Gorkhas. They have experienced a lot of racial discrimination, and identity crises throughout the nation and even abroad, which makes this statehood demand- a demand for identity.
What exactly is this demand? How did it come into existence? Why do the Indian Gorkhas feel left out?

I still remember the day when a man with gun shot wound was brought to our local hospital.He died.Like him so many other men lost their lives for the cause.Sadly Gorkhaland stills remains a dream for the people of Darjeeling.

There are still many incidents and happenings that are yet to be highlighted. All such incidents are confined within the memories of people of Darjeeling as nightmares. It is yet to be unveiled and I personally fear that those terrifying incidents will just remain in words, minds of people but it will never be written down in a proper manner and our history will be just passed down verbally. There are books and journals in the Gorkhaland agitation but it's mostly from the perspective of third person but only the ones who actually faced it that is underprivileged people and communities of Darjeeling knows the really suffering.

2007 Gorkhaland Agitation was drama to kick Subhash Ghisingh from DGHC. Only mistake Ghisingh made was he should have included left out 11 Sub Gorkha Caste first and then passed Sixth Schedule Bill.

Lepcha (Rongkup) and Yakthung (limboo/Tsong) are original inhabitant of these lands. They speak Lepcha and Yakthung languages, and have their own distinct Script, cultures, traditions, and ethnicity and religions. They follow their Matriarchal religions and worship nature and believe female sovereign gods. They are not Gorkha or ethnic nepali, thus why they are demanding gorkhaland, it has no historical aspects. They must ask in the name of something that related to Lepcha and Yakthung and other indigenous tribes. And related to Lho-Men-Tsong sum as previously these land were part of Sikkim.
People need very deep critical research there.

And where did you learn that they were the original inhabitants? I know many mangars who have lived in Darjeeling for a long long time. Tell me what is the major ethnic group in Darjeeling? By your logic then Palestine/ Israela should never exist. Neither the USA nor Australia and more countries. How can you be so sure that those Lepchas/Limbus never migrated to Darjeeling? How can they be the original inhabitants?
