      E are Indian Gorkhas not Nepali the author cannot present us as Nepalibhasi that is agains our Identity . So I am not buying the book or recommending to others unless mr Bhatacharya Ames the Nepali tag away . Would he accept it if we call him and his language by Bangladeshi name? So we must not forget ourselves

    • @ManiKumar-ht1cf
      @ManiKumar-ht1cf ปีที่แล้ว

      Is mr anirbanBhattacharyavavBangladeshi and the name of his language is Bangladeshi? If not he should not call the Indian Gorkha and their language Nepali. Our language is Gorkhabhasa another the term Nepali is likePakistani meaning citizenship of Nepal

    • @nischalbhujel6457
      @nischalbhujel6457 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ManiKumar-ht1cf here it is again. Is Nepali a recognized language of India or is it Gorkha bhasa? This statement that the language is gorkha bhasa created a whole lot of problems. You should read o darjeeling by Mahendra P. Lama. Chapter 11.

    • @ManiKumar-ht1cf
      @ManiKumar-ht1cf ปีที่แล้ว

      Buying a book is a great habit bur the way Mr bhattacharya opined about the term Nepali that makes it anti Gorkha cencrption therefore I found not worth recommending unless the removes the ambiguity with the term Nepali.language is not an option but a v import source of our identity

    Well narated by the author about Gorkhas. Language we speak is Nepali Dosent mean that we are from Nepal...Similarly Benali language is also spoken In Benglades that dosent mean that all Bengalis are from Bengladesh Similarly the Tamil language is spoken in Sri Lanka also tthat dosent mean all tamils are from sri Lanka.

    Mr Bhattacharya , I am Nepali from Nepal Born in Darjeeling where my mother was born and grew up. I studied at Darjeeling and grew up there i am now 55 years old i remember When i was in class 1 in himalayan nursery school i going on the procession saying "Nepali bhasa la manyata paunai parchha" (Nepali language should be recognized ) I remember Subash Ghising speech at Gitange dada with khukuri in his hand. who was so convicing !
    Point of agitation now i come to conclusion is that Nepals territory extended till guwahati since age imorriable days say at the time of ram, and krishna , Nepali then called kirati sided with krishna against Duryadhan you can find it in mahabarat for your conformation .
    There were many wars in ages and followed Nepali lands were lost regained and lost many times, so naturally nepali peoples have been living there from ages, you find sores of nepali even now say in sikkimes, Bhutan, Dorse siliguri Darjeeling and everywhere.
    The problem now is that Indians call them outsiders migrants that which breaks their hearts.
    What is there fault Darjeeling was ennexted in india by Britishers after Sugauli shandi who call the government of nepal while leaving india to get our land back then the Ranas who was in power ignored the call to save ther regime they thought that if they get back the lands then theri regime will be short termed .
    Noe the nepalees or Gurkhas of Darjeeling are in that state of life because of ranas.
    And the other way round indian are afraid if the Gorkhali get strong then one day they may annex Darjeeling with Nepal that is the conclusion i have made as Sugauli sandhi if dissolved then it can be so.
    Thanks for the book, which will read someday.
    Jay Nepal Jai Gorkhali.

      Main problem is open india nepal border. Nepali from nepal can get citizenship in india but indian nepali cannot in nepal. In Darjeeling, kalimpong, dooars der are gorkha/ nepali who had been living der since 1900 or before but der are many who migrated after 70,80s fr better future nd still getting settled in Siliguri nd hills not only in wb but all over india. The same in case with bengali, lots of refugees migrated to Siliguri, Kolkata, assam, tripura, mizoram, meghalaya etc after 1947,1971, till date. We should also know dat apart from nepali der are lepcha, bhutia, tibetan, dukpa, behari, marwari , behari muslim , etc in d hills who always supported the cause but lots of corruption, fight fr d chair is going in d hills. In sikkim also majority is nepali population bt dey hv nothing to do wd Darjeeling nd kpg, dey can get settled in wb bt others can't get settled over der. So now Darjeeling, kpg, Siliguri has bcm general dibba where anyone can come , get settled nd do politics by d name of race nd land😂. No good infrastructure, no good roads, healthcare, education, water supply,just this politicians make chutia to local ppl. Only emotions nothing more dan dat

    The issue of Darjeeling can't be compared to the surgency of other northeastern states. States like Mizoram and Nagaland wanted to be given separation from India, whereas, we protested to be recognised as Indians. Our protest was for a separate state, a separate INDIAN State . Gorkhas have never gone against the nation, definitely died for motherland instead. Our protest can never be compared to tettor protests of other Northeastern states .

Im so thankful and glad to know that atleast you came out and took initiative aur else hamarey ghoos khor neta ne ajtak sirf ullu hi banaya hai , gali gali mein bhi pata hai ki kaun kya hai ......gorkhaland mein sirf nepali bhi nahi bihari marwari bengali sab jaat ka yaha pe milke rehtey hai. .aur agar unlog ko puchogey toh woh log bhi gorkhaland ko samartan kartey hai. Kyunki agar aap siliguri jaw toh 60 70 % local log nepali ko bahut izzat dete hai ...jo baki 30 percent hai woh tmc or cpm ke log hotey hai. Ek baar aap jakey survey karlo. Proponents of Gorkhaland argue for the establishment of a separate state in India's Darjeeling Hills and its surrounding areas, inhabited predominantly by the Gorkha community. Advocates contend that creating Gorkhaland would address the unique socio-cultural and political aspirations of the Gorkhas, who have long sought recognition and representation within the Indian federal structure. They argue that a distinct state would provide greater autonomy and self-governance, enabling the preservation of Gorkha language, culture, and heritage. Pro-Gorkhaland supporters assert that it would facilitate targeted regional development, enhancing economic growth, employment opportunities, and infrastructural advancements in the region. They stress that Gorkhaland's formation would foster a stronger sense of identity and empowerment among the Gorkha people, contributing to a more inclusive and pluralistic Indian society.

    if the Gorkhaland state is formed then a new movement of Kamtapur of Rajbanshi will happen in the foothills of Darjeeling. that's why govt want to balance the issue. one simple solution is that make North Bengal a UT.

    Land of Darjeeling/Kalimpong was not part of India. This land was taken over by East India Compampany in 1835 A D n 1865 AD.
    Actually, Sikkim got this land from Nepal by Sugauli Trety 1816. thorough East India Company in 1817 under Titalla Sandi.
    So, do not make such wrong statement that Gorkha people came from Nepal. Earlier Gorkhaland was a part of Nepal before Sugauli treaty of 1816. Later on, this area was handed over by East India Company to Sikkim Raja under Titalla Sandi.
    In 1835, East India Company acquired the Darjeeling land by way of lease agreement.
    So the Gorkha people came then British-India with its land. Darjeeling is the land of Gorkha. If Gorkha is treated as immigrant in their own land the same area is to be treated as foreign by India also.

    Lepcha (Rongkup) and Yakthung (limboo/Tsong) are original inhabitant of these lands. They speak Lepcha and Yakthung languages, and have their own distinct Script, cultures, traditions, and ethnicity and religions. They follow their Matriarchal religions and worship nature and believe female sovereign gods. They are not Gorkha or ethnic nepali, thus why they are demanding gorkhaland, it has no historical aspects. They must ask in the name of something that related to Lepcha and Yakthung and other indigenous tribes. And related to Lho-Men-Tsong sum as previously these land were part of Sikkim.
    People need very deep critical research there.
    Hope indigenous tribes get their historical rights 🥰❤😇

    The narrative is simple. While the erstwhile independent kingdom of sikkim existed so did the kingdom of Limbuwan.
    Limbuwan was an autonomous region that paid a tax of one horse per year to the Hindu King of Nepal and was promised help in case of war and had to promise to help the Hindupati in case of war with men and weapons.
    Sikkim had its own issues with Limbuwan and one day war broke out betweed the two kingdoms . True to the agreement the Hindu king helped with money and men and Silkim was faced with defeat so they turned to the East India Company for help and East India Company helped Sikkim win the war. The terrorities of Limbuwan was annexed and the British leased the land from the Sikkim Raja to grow tea n build a place to recoup n recover.
    Later when India got her independence Sikkim stayed silent about the territories they had leased out .
    When the State Reorganizatiin Committee (in 1953/7) was comissioned to make the map of India the same tract of land was deemed as "tribal land" and it was merged with the state of Bengal "FOR ADMINISTRATIVE PURPOSES".
    Then the Govt of India also forgot about this bit ofvland as the young nation had other pressing matters in hand.
    The indegenous people who lived in those tracts of land fell victim to harrasment and exploitation by the Bengal Govt who basically excluded them from almost everything including fudging the population census that shows even today that the people didnt exist. Denied basic human rights on their own land and denied their iwn history the people were subjected to racism and excluded from self governance. To make their claims stronger the West Bengal Govt cleverly used the word "Nepali" to mean that the people came from Nepal hence they were forigeners.
    The people were forced to give up their ethnic name and re name themselves as " Indian Gorkhas " a title that the fortunate citizens of Nepal condemmn the people of Darrjeeling to have "stolen" from them ....not even trying to understand how or why the people here had to face to come to that situation where we were outcasts .
    In Nepal we were called Darjilingays and Dhotis meaningbwe were looked down for our Indian nationality. In India we were "Nepalis" or forigeners ...... Kehata ha na Hindi mei... Dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghat ka.
    Imagine such treatment being borne in silence for years and years. Finally in 1986 Shri Subash Ghishing lead the movement for Gorkhaland because we needed an identity and basic human rights.
    Bengal Govt fought back and politicised the movement with 99 percent of Bengalis not having the faintest idea of the history of the land. Politicans kept the narrative Bengal was not to be divided again and all that political retoric. Imagine claiming ownership of a land that has names of villages and hills and townships in the tribal dialect and not even "Nepali language" that is the common link language of a group of people with our own languages and culture.
    The tibetian refugees that were settled here is another angle altogether.
    So here we are strangers on our own land being asked to prove our loyalty to our Nation and being asked to go back to Nepal. while our neighbours and brothers n sisters of Nepal call us Thieves for "STEALING" the GORKHA title.
    The Government of Bengal insisting a piece of land that has names like Mirik and Kalimpong n Kharsang and Libang Sitrabung Pulungdung Lahring n Seering and Singringtam and manaebhyanjang as a part of Bengal when i am pretty sure they dont even know in which language these places have been named and yes these places existed before n during the East India Company. The British unfortunately rechristened a few teastates so we have a Bannokburn and Marylbone and Magrets hope as well but we can tell its the Brits who christened the place.
    The Tibetian refugees who settled here under the blessings of the Congress have caused enough damage to the ethnic fabric along with being aided by the Govt to help them have control over most of the Govt jobs so that the Govt population census or anything related to us written down as record cannot be trusted.... Glaring example of the number of "official numbers "of death according to the Bengal Govt during the 1986 Agitation for Gorkhaland to the real figures put up by families that lost their dear ones.
    Lallantop is welcome to walk into the govt offices to check this claim .just any independent reporter is welcome to walk into the govt run places and see the numbers of Gorkha officials and the numbers of non Gorkha officials holding top posts here in Darjeeling and then we can have a discussion on fair representation.
    During the struggle for Independence the right to self rule was a birthright but in a democratic India asking for the same right as a citizen of this Nation has landen a huge number of our people in jail and faced with trumped up charges in 2017.
    We still wait for justice from our Motherland.
    Jai Bharat Jai Gorkha Jai Gorkhaland. 🙏🙏🙏
    PS please copy paste this before it gets reported abd deleted because TH-cam generally cant handle the truth.

    The fact is that Darjeeling was never a Indian Terriotry. It was an independent territory which was once merged with Sikkim and Nepal in its history. Besides that Darjeeling was never a part of India. It was neither a part of West Bengal nor any other states right from its birth. People with Nepalese roots are residing there from ages.Because of Treaty of Sugauli between Nepal and East India Company, Nepal had to return its one third territory to East India Company (Not today's India) After the British left India, the Treaty of Sugauli too got perished as one of the parties signing the agreement of Sugauli had extinct. So, the things have arrived exactly at the point where the Treaty of Sugauli had happened. So, Its completely a Nepalese Territory. The ethnicity, The people's Roots, The People's Castes & Creeds, The peoples' Language, The peoples' Festivals, The Peoples' Literature, The peoples; History, The peoples' Religion everything exactly matches with Nepal and not with West Bengal. It is the evidence that Darjeeling was forcefully merged with West Bengal because West Bengal didn't have Touristic Destinations and cooler place in its territory.

      @@ManiKumar-ht1cf Who are Gorkhas?? Who are Gorkhalis? Who are Gurkhas?? All these get converged into Gorkha district of Nepal where from the unification of today's modern Nepal initiated by the then Prithivi Narayan Shaha with help of Brave and courageous People of Gorkha District. They are the original Gorkhalis, Gorkhas or Gurkhas. After the unification of Nepal, Nepal started expanding its terriotry towards Indian regions specially towards the East (Sikkim, Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri) and towards the west (Uttarakhand, Kumaon, Gadhwal, Deharadun, Nainitaal,) and towards the sountern plains (Bihar and UP) When Nepal had reached these Indian territories people from Nepal started shifting there for several reasons. That is how People with Nepalese roots and ethnicity are found living in Darjeeling and Sikkim and several other districts of India. Therefore, Gorkhas from Nepal are the original Gorkhas. Gorkhas may shift to anywhere but wherever they go they are the Nepalese and not Indian. Therefore, Darjeeling was never an Indian land because India was born only on 1947. Earlier than that Pakistan and Bangladesh and India all were a singular nation. Nepal returned its territories to East India Company as they had signed an agreement with East India company but they never did treaty with India. After 1947, the treaty has turned into void. Hence Darjeeling is sovereign territory of Nepal and not India.

    The Gorkhas of India have lost their land of inhabitants though they still live on those regions yet the people have not been treated as Indians. That is the reason why the Indian Gorkhas are demanding their own State within the Indian Union NOT AS PART OF ANOTHER ETHNICITY WHICH HAVE TAKEN THE LAND BUT HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH THE GORKHAS. It is not their ancestors came or migrated from Nepal. Gorkhas are honored only as martyrs. The Gorkhali land of Darjeeling Kurseong Silgadi Dooars before being disintegrated by Bhutan. in 1707 and by the British in 1835 + 1860 belonged to Sikkim and since 1975 Sikkim has been made the 22nd State of India but have not been REUNIFIED with the original mainland SIKKIM from which were disintegrated during the course of the history.
