  • Most of the N20 Turbo parts finally show up! Still waiting on the actual turbo but I can at least get a few things mocked up for now. I got some schedule 40 stainless for the manifold piping, the BOV and EWG are in, as well as some new head bolts and boost controller. This is the idea I came up with for the turbo kit, let me know what you think, it's not the best looking but according to the guys that run the rear mounted turbos this setup should work perfect. They run a good couple feet after the collector to their turbos so one or two up top should be fine.
    If you have any questions about the build or parts check out the Project Random site, i'll do my best to keep it updated with the latest info. www.projectran... check out the projects section!

    love the build its rare to see someone build a motor on these

    N20 is capable of a lot on stock internals regardless of what people say. Can not wait to see the final product.

      100% is low end torque that kills these motors. A nice low torque high hp tune and your golden. I know plenty of people pushing close to 400 wheel full e85 and big turbo and are running that for tens of thousands of miles

    hey man, just wanted to say nice job! really respect the way you are doing and improvising stuff. i have '14 328i and almost thinking of going crazy the same way you doing. however in my country getting parts and stuff is really tough, I'll be here watching your build and learn from it for when my turn comes.

      Thanks for watching! Even if I had all the money, I would still build my own stuff. It makes it unique and a lot more fun!

      @@projectrandomCO totally agree, I'm bored of seeing people just adding bolt-ons and calling it a "build". really excited to see how the turbo comes out.

      That means a lot man I appreciate it, I hope it works out too haha. Just ordered my turbo! All I need is to weld up the kit and get the tune and we are back up and running.

      @rellderrick3682 I have a big ass turbo in the mail (7875). Once I get my kit done I'll start with 500-600 and see what breaks, if it holds ill probably ride that for a little while and then turn it up. Car is fully built.

    I phantasized about the Vband flanged turbo and you’re out there just doing it. Much respect bro, I wish you all the best. Would you mind telling me what turbo you’re planning to run? I guess like a GTX28 or something?

      @projectrandomCO  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, I went with a big turbo from aeroflow performance. 7875, 9 blade t4. Supposed to spool well with a 2.0, going for efficiency Soni don't have to over rev a smaller turbo. I am upping the max rpm by 400-600 to help with spool. We will see

      Sweet, I have no guarantee if any of this will hold up but that what I am here for. I plan on breaking a few things and rebuilding a lot to help everyone with the N20 try and figure out how to push this and how far. I had every bolt on for a few months minus a bigger turbo, definitely fast on the low end but falls off at 5-6k rpm and past 60mph. A built block or at least pistons is a must for anything over 300-350. A full list of mods and how I did it all is on the website if you haven't checked it out yet!

      @@projectrandomCO no I haven’t seen it, so I’m going to take a look at it. I saw another company that’s building the car but it’s a Darton sleeves block and it’s on meth with nitrous and I’m like yea I don’t have that type of moneh

    • @projectrandomCO
      @projectrandomCO  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Datgrey.niteF30 I probably won't go nitrous but will get a meth/water kit just to keep temps down. You can get an injection kit with one or two nozzles, most aftermarket intakes have the ports on them already. Kit is $500 ish and can be set up to inject by boost so you aren't squirting when just cruisin around. The juice is pre mixed and really inexpensive, $60 or so for 4 gallons.

      @@projectrandomCOnot true it’s low end torque that kills these. Plenty of people on stock everything pushing 380-400 wheel reliability and safe.

    • @projectrandomCO
      @projectrandomCO  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Alpine_N20 I'm not saying you are wrong, but I'd like to see a dyno with a 400hp n20 that hasn't had to be rebuilt and runs reliably. Even my own car had a popped piston when I bought it, definitely pre detonated but that happens with any setup, the stock cast pistons are weak. Ran into the same issue with my STI, cast pistons won't hold up unless your tune and setup is absolutely perfect. One misfire and you are bending/stretching a rod or blowing a piston.

    Really looking forward to this build bro! I was curious if once your done with the kit and everything is running solid if you would fabricate another kit and I would buy it from you for my 320i that has the same n20. So sad to see that nobody sells a top mount big turbo kit for this car that can handle more power than some WRX.

    • @projectrandomCO
      @projectrandomCO  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh man lol, I don't think this kit is going to be anything anyone would want to buy, but maybe in the future. I just want to see if this all works first, then I'll see if I can put something more reliable together.
