I worked in Bilston and Wolverhampton area in 1974/75 and can remember drinking Ansells bitter every night after work. I have often wondered if it is still brewed? I used to drink three or four pints then drive back into Wolverhampton without a care. Those days are long gone now and thankfully I have more sense! However I still love beer especially my own brews.

Still a great pint and a very reasonable price, I got these from asda but home bargains sell them too :)

I've been drinking banks for a few years and for a cheap pint I really don't think you can go wrong. I buy mine from Aldi and I think it's around 85p a bottle, which compared to the big brands is super cheap. At around £3.40 for for bottles you can't go wrong especially as your looking at around that price for a decent pint in most pubs these days

Too right it's a great pint at a great price, much the same as Bass and Mans, they have managed to keep the prices low unlike others who have gone double the price in the last few years. Fantastic pints all of them ones are, Cheers mate..

Tap, do you know B&M are doing beer kits now? £7.99 for 10 litres, 1.4kg of extract and comes with hops for a dry hop. There's an IPA, real ale and lager with tequila and lime. The ale and lager are 4.2 and 4.4% but the IPA says 5.6%. Don't know if you have to add extra sugar for that. Can't find any instructions online. So you'd be looking at about 50p a pint. I'd never go near a lager kit because they are universally shit, but I'd probably give the IPA a go out of curiosity.
They also do a starter brewing kit for £9.99 with fermenter, thermometer (stick on type), syphon hose and sanitiser. Might be good for a viewer to get their feet wet with. Anyone not brewing yet - believe me, you will get your feet wet.
The amber is ok but for the same price I prefer the standard Banks's. I really like the bottles and the labels just fall off dead easy in water.
