Just finished bottling my Sweet Newkie Brown Wliko,s kit. Broke my hydrometer just before I checked the final specific gravity so not sure of alcoholic content. Tasted a bit watery but all the videos I’ve seen say it gets better with time and expect it will. Can’t compare it with The Northumberland Brown Ale until it’s properly ready so will update you then. Got a nice black currant wine brewing made from black currant teabags and some blackcurrants I have just grown. It’s bubbling away nicely in my demijohn. Put wine yeast and nutrient in it and 2lb sugar looks beautiful
But I expect it will take about 3 months before it will be ready. Always used to drink Black currant and lemonade when I was very young child but don’t really like black currant much now. I think this wine might change my mind.

Sounds like you have been buisy there mate. The Newkie will get a lot better over time, I save some and had one every month for 5 months and it turned into a fantastic pint. Not tried any of my wines as yet but did finish another one off today, so happy days, keep up the good work and bye for now Richard, cheers :)

If you lived near where I am, Leominster, you would of heard of them. Quite local, in all the pubs around here
Try if you can, Hobson's Brewery and if your lucky Swan Brewery

Hobson's have a nice yeast strain and you can culture it up from the bottom of some of their beers like 'Old Prickly'. It really sticks to the bottom of the bottle and has that 'cottage cheese' chunkyness like Fuller's yeast.

Butty Bach is actually Welsh language, with the ch of 'Bach' being pronounced as in Scottish 'Loch'. Bach means boy or small in Welsh, while butty is a colloquial saying for 'friend' (my butty; my pal). So, Butty Bach is 'small friend' or 'little friend'.

Bach is said like back but you're clearing your throat at the end, sort of like the composer.
Some drunk idiot broke my Wye Valley glass. I might have been the only one downstairs when it happened but I'm not ruling out foul play.
