    Rhinebacher is my go-to at the moment. Absolutely love the stuff it’s a steal. Would have been interesting if you included the canned rhinebacher too as despite being the same abv they are different beers, can tell as the nutritional info is a lot different. Bottled is better though.

    Can't beat Aldi for their Beers. I like that Rossini and Mapelli. Best is, they're both brewed in Italy. So sooner have the Mapelli over Morreti for that alone.

    Just found out the Steinhauser is brewed by DAB (Dortmunder Actien Brauerei). Used to love DAB beer, when Le Shuttle opened up in 1994 you could pick a slab of DAB beer (24 x 500 ml) for £7 - great days. 😂 Especially during France ‘98 World Cup. Many a good evening spent in Cite Europe in the restaurant downstairs that brewed their own beer. Than a DAB crate in the fridge for when you got home lol

    Prarmo was my go to... If... It was in stock! Everyone loved it and in Aldis wisdom, they said sales were not good, so, stopped selling it! Similar to Perlenbacher but solid, whereas Perlenbacher is hit and miss - great or water! 89p to £1.49 over a couple of years... Still... Chilled properly over a few days, it's worth it still.

    It’s interesting (and this isn’t a dig mate) but you did a video about how Rheinbacher has changed a few years ago (lowered the ABV and changed the quality) and said it wasn’t a patch on the original.
    But now you really like it again.
    Do you think the quality has increased or we have just got used to it? I’m the same - I don’t mind it now whereas when it changed there was a definite decrease in quality.
    Also, the 660 bottle is the Rossini Gran Reserva, not Rheinbacher. Rheinbacher did have a 660 for Oktoberfest last year but didn’t do it this year.

    • @Hereward47
      @Hereward47 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s because they’d rather sell fake German lager like Rheinbacher which is brewed in France at a better profit margin.
      It’s smoke and mirrors with Aldi and Lidl, I personally think you can get better bang for your buck elsewhere on genuine German or Czech beer.

    Great review video! I've tried a fair few of Aldi lagers you have in this review out of curiosity - The Rossini Gran Reserva (Not reviewed here) is the standout IHO and @ £2.49 per bottle can stand up easily to what products the mainstream supermarkets offer in their 3 for whatever offers. Must admit, I purchased a box of the 6x Steinhauser bottles via a recommendation based on one of your previous videos but, We'll have to agree to disagree - I just couldn't get on with them at all.

    Will try the Steinhäuser in the summer. The Grand Rossini was missing, though it may also have tasted too sweet compared to the crisp lagers at the time, the Grand Rossini is great. The 1897 is not good at all.

    • @ColonelForkEyes
      @ColonelForkEyes 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's most likely because it's copying the UK licensed 1664 not the OG French one. Saying that, after a visit to France a few weeks ago for the first time in about six years I was surprised to see the original 1664 has been dropped to 5.5pc ABV compared to last time I had it when it was at least 1pc higher.

    I have heard you say you are leaning toward lagers more as of recently. This is not surprising in a way. I love big heavy complex ales. But from time to time they seem to put my palate into overload and I find I just need a clean, simple, refreshing beer. A sort of palate cleansing or perhaps a palate reset. Larger is perfect for this purpose. I must confess I do like Helles and Dortmunder better than Pilsner. Cheers!!

I've been testing the Kölsch side of things with some surprising results from our usual supplier in Norfolk? Just don't tell my mates from Düsseldorf I've been on the Kölsch!

    I think you may find that just like Aldis version of Weetabix made in the same factory. Then there's every possibility that is the same with the Lagers.

    Interesting, before minimum unit pricing was introduced in Ireland the prices were far lower than what you’re quoting for the UK and for special deals a lot lower.The prices are now roughly the same.

    Simon could you review “ the tail of the whale” white ale from Sweden. I’ve just started drinking it here in Denmark. A pretty nice beer😉

    I found the cans of reinbacher terrible recently. Might of been a bad batch.
    However I do recommend you do try and review the limited edition coffee stout..I believable beer, could be better on body but a great beer

    Minimum unit pricing over here in ROI has absolutely ruined the market for these beers. They now brew the likes of galahad at 3.5%, so buying them now is rather pointless as they taste terrible. Best is the Perlenbacker at Lidi , but the price is now over 2 euro a bottle, when before they were about 1.50 euro.

    Wait a few weeks and you might get Winterbock again in Aldi Süd.. I'm just waiting for it...🤓 El Bandido is a Desperados rip off.🤔Not to be confused with Bandido beer brewed at Gran Canaria.🤓 Well, Desperados actually comes from Heineken Schiltigheim brewery in France, but claims it's mexican style...

    Love Steinhauser and always have some in the house.....However, I've found they give me the worst hangover. Tend to have one or two then swap to something else now.

    Havent watched the video yet,but why does the Rheinbacker cost £1.49 for a 50cl bottle yet the same beer in a can is sth like £3.80 for 4 x 50cl cans?

      Bottles always cost more with any beer for some reason. 4 x 300ml bottles of Budweiser in Tesco are £4.55. 4 x 440ml cans are £4.20. It's crazy.

    Rheinbacher in German Aldi it is 49 cent (before Corona and inflation it was availabkle for 29 cent for years) comming in 4.9 % abv. If i see the label design and think about the taste, it seems to be brewed by Krombacher. It is just a conspirancy but most people here swear on it like me.
