I found Forsythe’s performance to be quite moving, and her vocal range was strikingly beautiful. She seemed to really capture the essence of the aria, and her interpretive choices were truly inspired. Thank you, Amanda, for this exceptional musical performance.
I like that Amanda Forsythe does not merely SING the song, she PERFORMS it. (And I admire the way she stands up straight and tall.. If my posture were as good as Amanda's I would be a good 2"--3" taller.)
One of the best rendition of this masterpiece. Her italian dicion is properly delivered as well as the frequent nuances in vowels. An absolute to listen to... and to watch!

I live in Germany, which was one of the most important centers and place of employment for musicians during the Baroque, not to mention others, of course, but I must say that for a long time American musicians are the ones that have brought baroque music, especially singing, to new hights, no more boring Emma Kirkbyes or James Bowmanses, thank you for bringing baroque music back to the place it deserves and taking it out of the coffin of boredom!
The Baroque music of Handel is very different from that of, say, the Renaissance music of Palestrina and Monteverdi from about a century earlier. The singing styles, likewise, are very different. There is a very clear distinction between the two eras, both have their virtues, but I can very much understand your preference for the later Baroque style that this performance exemplifies. I agree with you about American performers but I think it is unfair to include Emma Kirkby and James Bowman in your comparison - it is like a musical 'Apples and Oranges' comparison.
I thought the same. It is absolutely impossible to dislike this. I suspect jealousy and other dark things which cannot reflect on this masterpiece of performance.
