As a oboist I am finally happy to see the oboe in the thumbnail. It is such a unknown instrument but very distinct in certain ensembles due to it's unique sound.
Idk I've always thought the lost woods theme sounds kind of dark and mysterious. It has the feel of being lost in the woods forever and being swayed by the fae.
I love how true to the original this is and at the same time it adds a lot of depth with the original instruments. I think the bassoon especially gives it a nice dynamic range. I would prefer if it didn't loop so many times, or had a bit of a narrative arc to it. I love how restrained the sound is, like every sound is intentional. I think that serves the arrangement very well.
Luke, you really are remarkable, taking on all of these challenges with all of these instruments. The oboe is harder to play well than people realize, and if it comes easy to some, they’re just lucky. Many can sound the instrument but few actually have the ability to make it sing, which is what it is intended to do , not shriek, which many do. You have my respect. And yes, I play oboe.
I was astonished the first time I heard oboe played well. Such a beautiful sound! Unfortunately the oboist thought I meant they were bad when I said this to a friend and looked daggers at me. I avoided them for the rest of the weekend in embarrassment 😳
@@InstrumentManiac love the cover but i would of loved if the part was played with a Clarinet and the recorder in opinion I think it would of sounded a lot better but that's just me being biased towards the clarinet but respect for the oboe because it is hard to play and I'm already happy with my clarinet and flute.
