Nice work. Local historians add tremendous depth and life to places. Lloyd Ultan certainly provided wonderful backgrounds to these highlights at Woodlawn.

Thank you. People have lost that desire to learn the biographies of so many great Americans that would add to
Their appreciation and gratitude and would probably be more conducive to showing their respect in visiting their resting place!

My great grandparents were friends (dancers) with Vernon and Irene Castle. They found them this gravesite near theirs. Their name was LaCoste. They were famous vaudevillians. Beautiful place. I will be there when I pass.

I'm sure that Mr. Ultan would be interested to know that Olive Thomas, wife of Jack Pickford (Mary's brother ) is there in a small mausoleum bearing the Pickford name. She was a silent screen star in her own right.

Mary Pickford, along w/ the rest of her family, are entombed at Forest Lawn Glendale Memorial Park in Glendale, Ca.

Wish Bringer: Opened in 1865, but with the President of the United States Ulysses S. Grant, coming here for Admiral David Faragut's interment in 1870, it "put us on the map." The cemetery is a National landmarks, as is Farragut's grave as well.

You need to visit the Strauss Memorial where you can see that Isador and Ida Strauss were born on the same day and yes died on Titanic on the same day. Then it's strange that directly across the way is the Bliss Memorial where this young girl was saved by an unknown aboard Titanic.....i wonder where Cameron got the idea??????

    Correction:
George M. Cohan and Irving Berlin did NOT receive the Congressional Medal Of Honor. What they DID receive was the Congressional Gold Medal. The Medal Of Honor is the highest decoration awarded to military personnel for bravery beyond exception. Usually given to next of kin posthumously.

Was wondering why the Word Catholic was left out of the elder gentleman’s great biographies?
Many of the bios talk about organizations and or decorative plaques refer to catholic trade marks ?
Also Irving Berlin’s history states that he converted to Catholicism from Judaism?
In fact this cemetery seems to be Catholic?
