Schecter has been making pickups since 1976, when they opened shop. It's one of the things that put them on the map. The pickup in that guitar is called Apocalypse, as well. I bought 2 of them from the custom shop, as the texture of the gain from these pickups is one of my favorite things.
They do have their own EQ, but after you dial them in roll the volume back to a 9 or so and marvel how good they sound. Plus you can always push back up to 10 for the grittier brutal sections.

I mainly use EMG 81 pups but the Apocalypse pups might be my favorite ever. I can dial an amp to all 12 o clock and get the sound I’m looking for with hi gain. I still regret not buying that guitar!

Same here. I'd never tried a Schecter, wasn't interested with the whole "metal motif" or whatever you want to call it - it seems silly - anyway, I went and tried a bunch of guitars around this price point yesterday, had no intention of trying a Schecter, but decided to try this one just to compare it to some others and wow, I was blown away!!! I ended up trying every Schecter hardtail in the store and most of them were way better than anything else I tried. Don't sleep on Schecter. I'm buying one of these and I'd never even played a seven before. This guitar is good at everything and is loaded with premium features.

And I was actually interested in the banshee mach with the evertune so it was nice to see a demo on that. If you can acquire some OD guitars to try out and test for another video, would be great to have your input. They have unique craftsmanship and beautiful finishes, come in 6 string and 7 strings variants. They can however be quite expensive because of the craftsmanship and other custom details you can demand of them. That said, knowing if they sound good and perform well would really help out someone looking to purchase a unique and potentially custom spec guitar from OD guitars. For the guitar models; Venus(6 string) and Asteria(7string).

Also, the are a bunch of videos on the OD Facebook page. From what I've heard, the tones are very diverse. You can play just about anything on them. And very well built. The luthier, Omer, is in Israel. He's a really good dude. He used to make a single cut model called Dahlia that I absolutely loved the look of. The price to quality ratio is really high with schecter. I got an Omen Extreame as a project guitar about five years ago and it's turned into my number 1 passive guitar. It has a jb/59 combo with a three way toggle for each humbucker to select inner coil, humbucker or outer coil. But I gotta ad the stock pickups were not bad in the slightest(I can't remember who made them but it was like two letters like G & L but ofcourse not G & L maybe I'll go look and update this in a minute). I kept them for another project in the future cause they sounded just fine. But when I started using the omen ext. as my main passive guitar I decided to put in the jb/59's.
Also my 7 Ltd has fishman fluence moderns and for heavier gauges drop tuned there's absolutely no other pickup I would ever consider using. The fishmans can sound like any genre even in a drop tuning with slightly heavier gauges.

Thanks for playing, I would have appreciated more dialogue about the differences between them. Take the Apocalypse for example. Isn't the Apocalypse more suited to lead or solos and the Evil-Twin more for Rhythm or Chords? I would have liked to have heard a lead part or with a track for each of them as well. At least an equally in depth solo or lead part for each. You played well, I'm sure you could do lead parts for comparison. I appreciate the video and the comparison though. I can't decide between the Evil-Twin and the Apocalypse. I'd get the Floyd Rose and Sustainiac on both. What about a Hellraiser C-1 FR S? I think the Rhythm sounds better on the Evil-Twin but I think lead, solos, classical, and expression is better on the Apocalypse. Would you agree or disagree with any of that?

It doesnt free your hand up at all. The sustain system vibrates the strings which creates the sustain sound and in order for all of your strings to not vibrate causing a massive sound mess you have to hold your palm against them. If you use a string damper however you can achieve the same effect without tying your right hand up or left whichever you play. Also, I highly recommend getting a 9 volt recharge kit and 2 batteries. If you leave your cable plugged in it will continue to drain your battery even if your volume is all the way off. Just a tip after 5 years of using one.

In Schecter's catalog there are a lot of nice guitars very fairly priced. I however have some reserve now with the brand due to personal experience: I once bought a KM6 MKII and it had all sorts of cosmetic issues (flaws in the headstock paint, chipped fretboard bindings, poorly routed pickup cavities) and most importantly a broken truss rod. Guitar Center and Schecter were kind enough to let me return that guitar and get a new one: which still had a lot of small cosmetic blemishes and a badly worn out truss rod nut. I eventually returned that guitar and just got my money back. And I really hope I'm a very unfortunate case because there are a few models I'd really dig (Keith Merrow's recent models and Nick Johnston's Strat-style models as well).

I used to be a person who would not go along with whatever the trend or gimmick of that time was and find an alternative. But these Fishman Fluence modern pickups have everything u need: multiple voicing, very high ranking metal tones, and I believe good cleans.
Also, I used want to hate EMGs, but I noticedif u put them in a nice guitar through a tube amp that can handle metal tones, and all of the sudden those EMGs 81/(85-60) scream and sing. There is a reason why most metal acts swear by the EMGs and Fishman Fluence pups.
