Definitely watch BEFORE you buy a New Tundra! - Honest Review after 10k miles

  • The 2022 Tundra was one of the most exciting trucks to be released last year, especially if you've been a lifelong Toyota fan. But after we all got our hands on it and owners started to put their trucks to use I'm sure many of us identified problems with the Tundra as well as highlighted areas where the Tundra exceled. After 8 months of ownership and over Ten thousand miles I have been able to use the new tundra in many different environments and situations and I feel confident that my honest review is accurate and that many owners will have to agree with my findings. This video is definitely a must watch for anyone interested in buying the #2022tundra or #2023Tundra

    Love your build on this truck Maxx! I have a '21 Tundra and previously a '15. Both of them took forever to switch in and out of 4 wheel drive, so it's good to hear Toyota has remedied that in the new model.

    Great honest review. I got the 1794 TRD off road a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. So far the only complaint that I have is under normal city and highway driving I have averaged about 13.6 MPG, and I only have 300 miles on the truck. Hopefully this will improve later as the engine breaks in.

    Tundra owner here - Assuming your phones are new(ish), they should have wireless charging capabilities. If you opted for the wireless charger or even just plugging your phone into the port in the center console, it connects you to wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto so you don’t have to pay for navigation.
    It also puts your navigation on the MID cluster.

    I appreciate the effort put into this video. I’m more curious than anything else. Had a Gen 2 Raptor now I’m in a TRX. So I kinda screwed myself because I can’t ever downgrade from where I’m at and accustomed to lol. I will agree a Gen 2 Raptor is a great value for what it is with all these modern trucks. My Gen 2 Raptor fully equipped had more features than my current level 2 TRX. Put 85k miles on my raptor and drove it from PA to FL at least a dozen times. Held up decent. Had to do cam phasers twice and some other power train issues and sun roof tracking broke twice. TRX is good so far but something about Ford and the Raptors they are just dialed in suspension wise..

  • @jayhunter59
    @jayhunter59 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is what I wanted to see as a Toyota fanboy. An honest review of the breakout year model for a new generation Tundra. I really wanted to see you grow into liking the Tundra after a bit of personalization but anticipated your mileage if that wasn't the case. I like hearing the gripes but I also question myself what/how something could have been improved to live up to your comparison. i.e. What is it that Des doesn't like about the seats specifically and who does it better, etc? I know the basis for comparison was in large part the Raptor, so the similarities are super helpful to someone in the market for a new truck. As always, thanks for doing what you do, constantly informing and inspiring! Glad you all are feeling better. BTW that azz shot at 20:30 is sexxxxxy!
    P.S. Still bitter about the sale of the crawler. I bought a 2000 (in 05) when I turned 16 (34 now) and daily drove it for 16 years until my single cab wasn't conducive for the advent of a second child. I seem to remember in my earlier years those weren't what I would consider "all highway miles" either. I would drive it to high school still covered in mud from the night prior. I would never sell it and now after years, it becomes my dedicated play toy. I loved seeing you with yours having fun snow wheeling. I guess I just have another channel to follow now.

      Yeah but the thing is this sr5 should not be compared to a ford raptor being the highest trim level of the f-150 until the raptor R comes out soon but still it shouldn’t even be comparable. At least the trd pro would be better since it is the highest trim right now for the tundra until the trail hunter comes and that would be even more comparable but that’s more of an overlanding trim and neither trim is intended to be a performance super truck like the raptor or trx. I know he’s just comparing what he owns now compared to what he owned before and he even said the raptor spoiled him and he’s basically saying he knows they really aren’t supposed to be compared but I personally like the trd pro tundra more and would choose it over the raptor having owned both myself. Currently own the trd pro, traded in my raptor and haven’t regretted it at all. I tried to do something outside of Toyota but I realize that I just feel at home in a toyota and everything about them just works for me personally. Also own a 5th gen 2018 built up 4runner which is my baby and wouldn’t trade that for anything. The 2022 trd pro tundra is amazing tho and feels very refined and has a ton of power, looks kinda awkward with stock 33’s but upgrading to 35’s sets it off perfectly and the stands is perfect now and matches the rest of the design of the truck, and only looks better with 37’s from what I’ve seen of people putting 37’s on the new tundras but I’m perfectly happy with 35s right now.

I have a 2011 4Runner, and a 1997 T-100 that’s gone through 4 teenagers and only thing that broke down was the clutch. Trust me my kid drove that truck for 3 years and did not even changed or fills the oil. It starts up every time. That’s when I knew I had to get the new tundra.

    Rented one for a road trip, many positives including great low end torque and soft ride but limited visibility. I’ll wait for the 2024 Nissan Titan before buying.

    Over on the website of Washington. Run the logging roads all year with my 09 silverado. Transmission is starting to slip at 220k miles. Have a appointment at foothills toyota to test drive a tundra. Still not sure if I will go with the tundra or silverado. I use my truck as a truck!

    You should never have to settle for anything. Something growing on you at $70,000 plus is your first mistake. After seeing your ten things you hate about the New Tundra I’ve definitely going to keep my 2016 Tundra Limited which has no negatives.👍 Funny you are the first to say the New Tundra has good Turning Radies.😂

      I recently made a deal on a 23 red limited that hasn’t been built yet. I purposely stayed away from the 22 model after the early reviews. I didn’t pay any dealer markup but I didn’t get a discount. Right now I’m not planning any mods.

    ive been offroading in my 4runner off road with a sun roof for 5 years and never one flex. All trucks should be body on frame so flexing should be very minimal

    I seen your 10 hates and now this video. I think you might have been much happier with a Ford Tremor or Raptor (Gen3). You really liked your Gen 2 Raptor but the new Gen 3 Raptor is way better! Even the Tremor is nicer than the Gen 2 (not suspension wise but everything else). Your Tundra looks great though!

    2019 Tacoma Sport, after Nitro gears, was acceptable. Almost bought the Tundra instead, but held off until this July and traded the Tacoma for a Platinum Tundra. Call me a fanboy, I just don’t care, but the power that sleeps until you punch it sealed my purchase deal. Like max said, lift it and throw meaty tires on it and it still has no issue putting you back in your seat!

    WOW Washington to Florida and back with no oil changes and the raptor blew up! Lol! What was that like 7k miles. I could never recommend someone to buy things that can't go a few extra miles between changes.

    if you live where I do in Northern ontario in Canada, ....where in the winter the truck basically has to be in 4H all the time, be prepared for sub 10MPG! I kid you not. I'm mostly city driving and I love my 2023 Platinum Hybrid and previous for 5 months a 2022 TRD PRO but 4H, in town....consistently and you're looking at like 9mpg. :D at least Navigation is free in Canada!

    • @Maxx.Powell
      @Maxx.Powell  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sucks. Even with a hybrid model! Jealous you got free navigation haha

    • @OSkyFireO
      @OSkyFireO ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Maxx.Powell - It's really weird. My 2022 TRD PRO came with running boards and a bunch of other features the American one didn't but didn't feature the digital rear view mirror....navigation was also included with that one along with 5 years of the app subscription...I think you guys only get one year. I traded the PRO in for my Platinum since It's a better overall family vehicle and it had towing mirrors plus, let's be fair....I'm not running the Baja anytime soon and I prefer more creature comforts....either way, Like you I'm delighted. Love my truck....the gas mileage sucks though, but then, if that's what I was aiming for I'da bought a prius right? haha
