Kriegsmarine = WWII German Navy. There is a 'making of' video for this as well. This was done in conjunction with Wargaming, the ships are from World of Warships. Recommendations for more Sabaton? You've seen my personal favorite, this is it right here. Also Christmas Truce and The Last Stand. Great stories.
the line "iron and blood" (German: Blut und Eisen) is the name given to a speech made by Otto von Bismarck. they have sooo many such things in their songs/videos, and the dedication to all the dead of the battle of the Atlantic...
The singer of Sabaton, Joakim Broden, did a video and song with Nanowar of Steel some weeks ago, called Pasadena 1994. It is also telling the story of a historic event, which many Italians consider their worst defeat since WW2. Maybe you would like to look at that, too? It is really something different. :D
Enjoyed your reaction. If you like this one for it's display, just wait until you watch Christmas Truce. The cinematography in it- as well as the song itself is incredible. Spoiler alert about watching that one, listen thru the credits. You 'may' recognize a certain female singer who happens to be married to Hannes the drummer for Sabaton. Keep them coming :)
Song was released one year after last survivor of Bismarck died, the old guy in the cabin at the beggining of the video is the son of that last survivor!!! Thanks for your reaction!
Try one of their animated story videos! (Collaboration w Yarn Hub) Night Witches, Lady of The Dark, No Bullets Fly, The Red Baron... omg.they are incredible! Not just the song, you get a lesson w it! BTW, if you've noticed some familiar names...Sabaton Squad is also, largely, Nightwish Army! Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl is married to the legendary Floor Jansen from Nightwish! (There's another tie-in artist thats gonna blow your mind! We'll fill you in next Sabaton reaction!)
Luftwaffe, Wehrmacht and Kriegsmarine were the Airforce, Army and Navy of the Germans in ww2, they were not affiliated with N party at all, but each branch ofc had followers, but they still had to obey the leader of the country even if some disagreed with adolf, but they were not like the specials units like SS units, those were 100% part of N party machine.
The good thing of Sabaton...Good Music and they let u know/learn about great events in our world past (last 100 years ish) they have another channel that goes more in depth of the story in their songs! Thnx for doing this, enjoyed your reaction very much 🤘🎩🥰
The Bismarck was only around for a year because every time it left it's berth, it was such a threat to the Atlantic convoy routes they had whole naval groups hunting it down. Same with the Tirpitz.
Everyone else has already said it, but when you commented that the Bismarck was only around for 1 year... Well, the long and short of it is like this; The German Battleship Bismarck was at sea and encountered the Royal Navy battlecruiser HMS Hood. (HMS = Her Majesty's Ship) One of Bismarck's HE (High Explosive) shells penetrated the ammo storage area of the Hood and detonated it causing Hood to sink almost immediately. This upset England greatly as Hood was like the symbol of their nation. So it became the single most important goal of the Royal Navy to finding and sinking Bismarck as revenge. A funny bit to the encounter at first is that Bismarck was traveling with the German Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen. From a distance, Prinz Eugen looks similar to Bismarck. Anyways, one of the torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal got a lucky strike and disabled the Bismarck's ability to control it's direction- the rudder got jammed in a turning position. With Bismarck unable to flee, it became a slug match, but the majority of the damage as well as the winning strike was from torpedo bombers.
Hi, I enjoyed your reaction and was happy to hear you so passionate about history. Two things I can give you some inkling about are being suddenly in the Ocain as your ship sinks, I was on a large Factory Processor in the baring sea that rolled over. I still have nightmares and add to that Sometimes watching this video Seeing the men struggling to swim away from Bismarck as he was rolling over, I get choked up because one of my grandfathers served abord the KM Bismarck as an engineering Officer. It is hard to not feel that horror, to here of the cries of those dying, the oil that was so think it drowned many and the smoke and fear. I never got to meet him but did get to read his journals and see some of the few pictures he had that survived the war. His survival was pure luck as just before he went overboard, he found the ships Cat Oscar and despite being allergic he tucked the cat in to his tunic and then found a life ring to put him on. They were in a relatively oil free area of water with a couple others and the Cat was crying loudly and that's how the rescue boats found them. Anyway, Thanks for sharing. Bless and be well.
since they released this song, I´ve never listened to any of their songs...I was into Punk and Metal when i was like 16 or so, but when time went on, i became the fear of every Parents, a Goth XD. That was more than 20 years ago. Then Sabaton came along. And i felt in love, not just the fu... awesome videos, they are not taking a side, the take every side and none. My Grandfather was a Sailor of the Kriegsmarine at that time, and his order was to give escort to Bismarck.....He never had to do that, cause....we all know why. But he made it through the war....Sabaton is one of the 300 from Sprata, a roman legionary, a 16 years old one british soldiers during the battle of the Somme, or a commanding officer during the Battle of Midway. They dont care, they tell stories, not fiction. No matter which uniform you may wear while you die.....
You are spot on about kid’s learning from his my youngest son when he was 7 started listening to them he is 11 now and knows more about different things about history than his history teacher at school I was so impressed by his knowledge of napoleon at age of 10 knew all the battle dates etc

OK, just to compare Battleship sizes, The Bismark Class was 823'6" overall in length. The North Carolina Class (first post Peace Time class) was 728'9" in length. The South Dakota Class (newer class) was 680', while smaller than its predecessor it was better protected. And the the final US Battleship class, the Iowa class was 887'3". So only the Iowa class was bigger than the Bismark Class. The Bismark's sister ship, the Tirpitz, was sunk in a Norwegian Fyord in 1944 by Royal Air Force bombers.
They did this with World of War Ships. You should also check their collaboration woth Yarn Hub. Night Witches,No Bullets Fly,Lady of the Dark, christmas Truce. KriegsMarine is the German Navy.
Another suggestion- Nightwish has a official video from their recent album put out last year. Song is called Noise. I highly recommend it th-cam.com/video/LczGSoibRe8/w-d-xo.html
Sabaton has it's own history channel. Sabaton History channel has history and behind the scenes stuff. History and metal music have always gone great together. Iron Maiden trooper, aces high, run to the hills. Then rammstien is another. My personal favorite of Sabaton is To Hell and Back. Song and story of Audey Murphy. My second pick would be No Bullets Fly. It's one thing to talk about battles, ships, units. When you get down the perils and struggles of individual soldiers. That's where the big picture gets very very small. An asking yourself if you would have it in you.
I think you'll appreciate To H*** and Back. It's about PTSD and fighting your own mental demons after coming home from war. Main character is Audie Murphy. The song title is the same as the movie about him, and part of the chorus uses poetry he wrote after WWII.
My experience is that my father was a teenager in the second world war He worked as a draughtsman designing de Havilland planes and parts during the war. He was fourteen in 1939 and after leaving school that year worked for 3 months on the ferries between Harwich and Hook van Holland but when war broke out the ferries were curtailed and he didn't have a job. My father was interested in naval history and read a lot about it and talked about it I grew up discussing war with my father and art and music with my mother. Sabaton is a band with a loooong list of history based music. Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 100 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of thepublic) . Sabaton videos are often have dedictions and/or messages at the end, jusg like you saw here, perhaps not always but, watching to the very end is frequently well worth it. The Kriegsmarine was the Nazi Navy. The current name for the German Navy is simply the Deutch Marine. However the name of the German Airforce then and now is still called the Luftwaffe. As that's literally the word for Airforce in German.
Sabaton doesn't spare no expenses coming to make music videos for sharing the history. They also care a lot about the details in the visuals. It is always very accurate to what historians have written about events they sing about. An interesting fact in this history is that the young sailor that got the compass existed in real life and was supposed to act as the older man handing them the boat. Sadly, he died short before the shooting of this video, so his son took the role instead. I can strongly recommend Sabotons own history channel on TH-cam. The episode on Vitold Pilecki, the subject for Sabotons song "Inmate 4859," is an insane and a very little known story. Otherwise, I would recommend Sabatons "No bullets fly" or "Christmas truce." Thank you for a great reaction on this one!
One of the best videos I ever seen is Christmas truce , if you give Bismarck 2 thumbs you’ll have to replace your fingers for thumbs when you want to rate Christmas Truce
Sabaton videos that aren't visualizers or lyrics videos are generally like this. They have a working partnership with the video game makers of World of Tanks and World of Warships, so whenever they do videos where those two things are of relevance they have the game company render battle footage like this for their videos. Sabaton also does movie like videos for other songs like Christmas Truce about the 1914 Christmas Truce in WWI. Check that video out. It's a tear jerker. But Sabaton also does a lot of animates videos that tell the story of the song. The video for "Bullets Don't Fly" about a Bf-109 pilot escorting a shot up B-17 back to Allied Airspace is one such video. It's also a tear jerker.
Fun fact ..the tug boat cptn is played by a relative of one of the German survivors...kriegsmarine, think "navy"...re graphics, just wait for Christmas Truce, with Floor doing the outro....Saving Private Ryan level production
Even if the stories were short, the planing, construction, deployment and demise of Bismarck and Tirpitz are incredibly entertaining and full of lessons.
Just found your channel! You guys seem to be a cool duo! Please react more to Sabaton! Try Christmas truce or Stormtroopers the animated video. Im gonna be here for the entire ride! Greetings from Sweden.
That one lucky shot from a biplane messed up the rudder and steering compartment. Left the beast swimming in circles. That let the fleet close in and pound it for hours. It still only went down because it was scuttled in the end. Allegedly.
I like to call Sabaton "Valor Metal" If you wish to learn more about the Battle of the Atlantic, I must recommend a 1960 movie "Sink the Bismarck" free here on YT. It was one of my inspirations to enlist in US Navy in 1984. Lessons learned from the Bismarck went into the design of the USS Iowa class. All four of which served into the 1990's. They are all now museum ships. The USS New Jersey has a popular YT channel. The USS Missouri is where Japan signed the surrender ending WW2, and is moored within sight of USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. Kriegsmarine is the name for the German Navy.
This video was produced in collaboration with World of Warships, they also done a video for World of Tanks with their song Primo Victoria which is awesome and i recommend
If I were you, I would read the info on the song *after* I watched the video, so I didn't spoil it for myself :) As have been said by others, they have a history channel where they go into depth about their songs and I highly recommend it as well.
The wreck of Bismarck was discovered on 8 June 1989 by Robert Ballard, the oceanographer responsible for finding RMS Titanic. Bismarck was found to be resting on her keel at a dept of approximately 4,791 m (15,719 ft), about 650 km (400 mi) west of Brest. 48°10′N 16°12′W
I don't know if I already told this. One of our neighbors who died years ago was a survivor of the Bismarck he was pretty miserable the rest of his days. Poor soul.😢
Sabaton has their own type of telling the history…. all is true… the music is phenomenal.. ‼️🏆 By the way, the drummer of Sabaton is married with Floor (Nightwish). More Sabaton? Do the live version of „En Livstid I Krig“ but with subtitles - you have to understand the lyrics ‼️ and it’s in Swedish…
The Bismarck was a German warship in WWII and was one of two ships of the Bismarck-class. The Bismarck himself and his sister-ship the Tirpitz. H*tler had different deployment plans for the Bismarck but his generals got behind his back and sent it out. After it have been damaged and the German captain decided to flood the ship so they technically didn't fell by the hand of the enemy they tried to hide it from H*tler. He found out about it in the newspapers, I think the British ones. Imagine his fury.
The reason the CGI is so good on their videos is the have a tie in with the Computer Games World of Takns and World of Battleships When you play World of Tanks they have their own tank you can choose.
Fun fact, the Aircraft carrier who launched the biplanes is Ark Royal. Those biplanes were much slower than what the aa crew of Bismarck were expecting, which allowed them to get the torps out that disabled Bismarck's steering
Absolutely correct about the Fairey Swordfish torpedo planes. But imagins flying toward that behemoth kissing the wavetops in an open cockpit surrounded by canvas and wood to deliver your one shot in the hope of a lucky critical hit! Those pilots from the Ark Royal had massive cojones!
I can’t remember where I read it, but I read that Tom Hanks is a big fan of these guys. He’s also a big history buff. I think you can see some clips from one of the films he’s in, that was used in one of Sabatons videos.
Sabaton,Nightwish..... Welcome to european metal ! 🤘 I hope you enjoy your ride subscribed Ah, give "Sabaton - Ghost Division" (live @ woodstock) a chance
Not correct my friend, The Kriegsmarine (German pronunciation: [ˈkʁiːksmaˌʁiːnə], lit. 'War Navy') was the navy of Germany from 1935 to 1945. It superseded the Imperial German Navy of the German Empire (1871-1918) and the inter-war Reichsmarine (1919-1935) of the Weimar Republic. The Kriegsmarine was one of three official branches, along with the Heer and the Luftwaffe, of the Wehrmacht, the German armed forces from 1935 to 1945.
Sabaton has a UTube History channel called Sabaton History. It explains a lot of the history about a lot of their songs. Sabaton is not political their mantra is “ Lest We Forget.” If you want to check out No Bullets Fly Animated story video. They combined Sabaton History with a animated music video. One suggestion please play it to the end you will not regret it! Rock On Stay Safe!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I would Very much like to see you do a reaction to a song by the Romanian band Bucovina and their song Aștepta-ma dincolo de moarte (Wait for me beyond death). The band dedicated this song to a Very good friend of their, a guy named Adrian Ruginâ (1977-2015) who was in the audience attending a concert with the band Goodbye to gravity on October 30th 2015, when the venue caught fire. Adrian tragically succumbed to the flames of the burning Club Colectiv running several times back into the burning establishment trying to save other Metal heads. He was posthumously awarded the title of national hero for his deeds on that fateful evening.
about Bismarck, the crew placed explosives on the inside and blew it up to prevent the enemy from getting their hands on the german flagship. They know where the wreck are(the compass in this video is the location) and they checked every torpedo wall on the ship, not a single one had taken any damage at all, which means the allied had not even caused enough damage to reach the inner defenses of the torpedo walls....if not for the rudder damage a torpedo caused, bismarck could have sailed on and perhaps gotten backup and survived(a bit longer)
They have their own TH-cam history channel where they discuss the stories behind their songs with military historians. They go quite in depth too.
Sabaton History hosted by Indy Neidell who also does amazing week by week breakdowns of WW1 and WW2
Out of 2200 men, only 116 survived the sinking of the Bismarck. The last survivor, Bernhard Heuer, passed in 2018 at the age of 96.

Yes, they are going to do a show on a boat, about a boat under attack from other boats in an epic boat battle xD love this song and video! :D
The singer of Sabaton, Joakim Broden, did a video and song with Nanowar of Steel some weeks ago, called Pasadena 1994. It's simply brilliant 😂
He did a great one with Grailknights too.
@@richardgoddard37 he has a great sense of humour. :D
At 6:40. When he says bound by iron and blood, its a reference to “The Iron Blood” which is the Imperial German Navy.
Enjoyed your reaction. If you like this one for it's display, just wait until you watch Christmas Truce. The cinematography in it- as well as the song itself is incredible. Please check out Christmas truce by Sabaton also! Read up on the story behind it before, one of their best songs in my opinion.
The ship scenes are made with the creator of World of Warships called Wargaming, They also do the scenes to Sabatons Primo Victoria song. 😎

The CGI for the naval battle looks so amazing
The Bismarck was only around for a year because every time it left it's berth, it was such a threat to the Atlantic convoy routes they had whole naval groups hunting it down. Same with the Tirpitz.
The tirpitz sad mostly only in harbour and got repeadiatly bombed by brits if im Not mistaken
Everyone else has already said it, but when you commented that the Bismarck was only around for 1 year... Well, the long and short of it is like this;

With Bismarck unable to flee, it became a slug match, but the majority of the damage as well as the winning strike was from torpedo bombers.
Not HE shell, it's AP shell. HE shells can't penetrate Hood's belt into the the ammo storage.
To add to the chorus - Sabaton’s Christmas Truce. If you want history & production value…it doesn’t get any better than that.
Just recorded the reaction to Christmas truce and it will be out later today! Thank you
Here's the Sabaton History Channel: www.youtube.com/@SabatonHistory
I recomment the "no bullets fly" music video. Has a nice story behind it. Greetings from Germany :)
Also, since you were asking about production, Sabaton just released a “making of” for 1916. Definitely worth a watch even if you don’t react to it.

I concur for Christmas Truce.
No Bullets fly or Night witches would be a great next Sabaton reaction. 🔥🔥
Sabaton’s drummer, Hannes Van Dahl is married to Nightwish’s Floor Jansen.
People who saw the bismark in the 40s must have been like
"AH shit, we dead"
OK, just to compare Battleship sizes,
The Bismark Class was 823'6" overall in length.

Christmas Truce set in first year of WWI is another good story told of a one-off event. Also suggests how crazy war is.

Otherwise, I would recommend Sabatons "No bullets fly" or "Christmas truce."
Thank you for a great reaction on this one!
The animated story videos are collaborations with the history channel "Yarnhub.
Never heard of this band until I started watching Dan Vasc videos. I love this band! Love your reactions!
Fun fact ..the tug boat cptn is played by a relative of one of the German survivors...kriegsmarine, think "navy"...re graphics, just wait for Christmas Truce, with Floor doing the outro....Saving Private Ryan level production
It's the son of the survivor and in the compass the coordinates are stamped of the place where the Bismarck sank.
@@moniquevanaken2638 (:
Even if the stories were short, the planing, construction, deployment and demise of Bismarck and Tirpitz are incredibly entertaining and full of lessons.
How can you not love a band that says ‘we couldn’t fit it into an album so we said f it let’s make it anyway and release it on its own’
Just found your channel! You guys seem to be a cool duo! Please react more to Sabaton! Try Christmas truce or Stormtroopers the animated video. Im gonna be here for the entire ride!
Greetings from Sweden.
Nightwish army California checking in , glad you are checking out Sabaton!! Sabaton has a History chanel.
That one lucky shot from a biplane messed up the rudder and steering compartment. Left the beast swimming in circles. That let the fleet close in and pound it for hours. It still only went down because it was scuttled in the end. Allegedly.
Sabaton History on utube is even more awesome. They give a good history of what there songs are about and a little about the song itself
I like to call Sabaton "Valor Metal"
If you wish to learn more about the Battle of the Atlantic, I must recommend a 1960 movie "Sink the Bismarck" free here on YT.
If I were you, I would read the info on the song *after* I watched the video, so I didn't spoil it for myself :)
As have been said by others, they have a history channel where they go into depth about their songs and I highly recommend it as well.
The guitar solo after 'his guns have gone silent at last' is like a requiem for the Bismarck.😢
Sabaton Seven Pillars of Wisdom
Kriegsmarine was the German Navy
As many I also recommanded christmas truce and dont stop till the end ❤greetings from the netherlands
Sabaton legit my favorite band since Metallica
The wreck of Bismarck was discovered on 8 June 1989 by Robert Ballard, the oceanographer responsible for finding RMS Titanic. Bismarck was found to be resting on her keel at a dept of approximately 4,791 m (15,719 ft), about 650 km (400 mi) west of Brest. 48°10′N 16°12′W
One of our neighbors who died years ago was a survivor of the Bismarck he was pretty miserable the rest of his days. Poor soul.😢
Sabaton, making history nerds of us all😊
As a side note here, the name they gave the boat at 2:59 is taken from an older song by the band, from the older setup of the band.

Sabaton History www.youtube.com/@SabatonHistory
I don't know if I already told this. One of our neighbors who died years ago was a survivor of the Bismarck he was pretty miserable the rest of his days. Poor soul.😢
Sabaton has their own type of telling the history…. all is true… the music is phenomenal.. ‼️🏆 By the way, the drummer of Sabaton is married with Floor (Nightwish). More Sabaton? Do the live version of „En Livstid I Krig“ but with subtitles - you have to understand the lyrics ‼️ and it’s in Swedish…
7:33 The gaming studio that does the "World of" series of games (World of Warships, World of Tanks, etc) did the cinematics for this video
The Bismarck was a German battleship in WWII. He was one of two ships of the Bismarck-class. The Bismarck himself and his sister ship the Tirpitz.
agreed on some of my fore-commenters, Sabaton - History is great.
The Bismarck was a German warship in WWII and was one of two battleships of the Bismarck-class. The Bismarck himself and his sister ship the Tirpitz.
The reason the CGI is so good on their videos is the have a tie in with the Computer Games World of Takns and World of Battleships
When you play World of Tanks they have their own tank you can choose.
Am i the only one who wants to fire a 12 inch cannon from a battleship after listening to this song?
The captain of the boat is the actual son of the survivor portrayed in the video.
Old school history channel meets old school mtv? Bro i would be so down for that lol
In the end, Wohlfarth and the U-556 were unable to provide any desired assistance to the Bismarck.
Sabaton,Nightwish.....
Welcome to european metal ! 🤘
I hope you enjoy your ride

Ah, give "Sabaton - Ghost Division" (live @ woodstock) a chance

Easter Egg: Pocket Watch.
My son have learn and been so much interesting in history after he started lysstening Sabaton. He is 16 .
At that time the Bismarck was the biggest warship ever seen.
Hello from Russia. eternal memory to the sailors of the cruiser Hood!!!.
In that video they didn´t show how Bismarck sunk HMS Hood and damaged HMS Prince of Wales, yet still great job.
sabaton has a history channel
Kriegsmarine means warships. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
This music video Sabaton made in cooperation with Wargaming (the company that made World of Waships and World of Tanks games)
Im so Jealous… u have so much to looking forward for ❤many many songs and videos
The kriegsmarine is the name of the German navy it translates to war navy
You'll see the word Krieg/Krig in a lot of european militaries. It means War or warrior in most languages.
about Bismarck, the crew placed explosives on the inside and blew it up to prevent the enemy from getting their hands on the german flagship.
Sabaton, modern day bards.
The Bismark got hit by a tiny torpedo by a bi plane that hit and damaged its rudder so it could only go in circles
Makes me wanna go into battle.
Follow the Watch from start to end🤘you willl unterstand.🤟
You have to react Sabaton - no bullets fly animated version!.
they filmed this with the makers of the world of warships game
Seriously, you just have to do a reaction of their videos Christmas Truce and Soldier of Heaven! You won't be disappointed!
Kriegsmarine is what the German navy was known as from 1935 to 1945
