    A follow up, long-term review with the Calibrated Power / Duramax Tuner DT44 Stealth Turbo. I cannot give their turbo charger enough praise. This is by far the best 2.8 LWN turbocharger on the market. The DT44 offers transient response and top end power not found with any of its competition. Whether you're simply replacing a stock failed turbo charger, or looking to get more out of the truck than tune-only on the stock turbocharger provides, this is the turbo for you.

    I will be getting one of these if and when the stock turbo gives up the ghost. I have also noticed quite a bit of S&B noise on my truck as well. Thanks for the good video.

    I had my DT44 installed in Wyoming. I then drove to New Mexico thru the Colorado Rockies loaded with tools & oilfield gear on Motorops tune 3. Elevations up to 10,000 feet and it absolutely screamed my wife commented I was passing everything on the road.

    Nice report.
    Big bonus, the DT44 has thicker vanes on the intake side, so they won't bend like the stock ones can in cold climates. Per DT, the stock turbo vanes are the thinnest they have ever seen, and the 44 can run on the stock tune if one does not want to tune. The DT44 upgrade is a no brainer if the OEM turbo gets damaged.

    • @HunterSkiff
      @HunterSkiff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bingo! If I was stuck with a failed stock turbo I would definitely NOT replace it with another stock unit, especially if you think you’ll want more power in the future

    • @HunterSkiff
      @HunterSkiff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct, this turbo charger works with the factory emissions equipment. It will work with a totally factory truck. Of course the real benefit comes from having the truck tuned. Nothing is needed on the trans side other than your regular general maintenance.

    • @HunterSkiff
      @HunterSkiff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PHLTHS agreed. The Dt44 is better balanced in terms of having a matching upgraded turbine and larger vane assembly to lower drive pressure at high load. The powermax has neither. Dt44 has higher peak power potential too. The DT44 also doesn't have an issue with surge, regardless of what tune you're running, be it factory OEM file, stock turbo tune, DT44 specific tune etc

    I've had mine for almost a year now but I'm wondering if you noticed or if other people noticed that the tuning is smoky.. I'm pretty sure I had the same tuning as you. like full throttle tune 2-3 it's a bit more than a haze and when it shifts it's black.. I always had good tuning before that truck and none of my other truck smoked so I don't like that.. I did check for boost leaks and at this point I can't find any but the gauge is still going down slowly.. I think it's normal ? anyway other people with dt44 is it smoking?

    • @HunterSkiff
      @HunterSkiff  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      has it always been smokey, or has it gotten progressively worse over time? We don't have the same tuner, my files are smokeless

    • @n1d0n
      @n1d0n 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HunterSkiff thanks for the reply, :-) yeah I saw below in the comments and we do have the same tuner... it's less smokey now as I did have 1 leak at the beginning. like I said if I did a boost leak test I can't hear any air anymore but I can feel the air coming out of my pcv.. the only other weird thing I have is I still have my stock downpipe - I just removed the DPF - but again other people did that and they don't seem to have issues and if it would be an issue I don't think that smoke would be the problem.
