    Don't sell yourself short Xin. I think you did an excellent, meticulous job of pruning. You were precise in all that you did to the juniper. Not only did you do a great job, but, you also explained what you did for the novice to learn. Excellent!

      Thanks for the encouragement Tom, I just hope the tree grows well, last time I pruned there were some brown needles

    I like the color on these junipers the most but there is very little content available for growing/ training them as bonsai compared to other junipers. Thanks for the great video!

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and this particular is currently dying, something went wrong during over wintering, the tree just did not come back

    • @anicetomaldonado
      @anicetomaldonado 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I couldn't find too many Blue Star videos myself. So I made one. Lack of a tripod kept me from filming the trimming and wiring. But I do include what I did with the trimmings.

    From a bush to a tree, nice job Xin 👍 As for the little maples, I wouldn't think a rabbit would get up there, I'm guessing a mouse.

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea someone else also has suggested a mouse. I am going to keep the pot on the table from now on. Too many pests!!

    Nice work on the Juniper Xin! I would guess a mouse ate your Maples, they seem to love them.

    • @OddBonsai

      @@MaybeBonsai Mice are able to climb walls. Keep this in mind when you select a new location for them. If it were only rabbits you could use some kind of mesh around the pot to prevent them from reaching the seedlings. Mice would just climb over the mesh...

    Bonsai needs really regular attention. My jade 2as neglected and thus couldn't survive. Case of overwatering 😂. New Sub gardening friend here.

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sure does, specially in the summer, watering everyday to twice a day. The jades are more forgiving since they can tolerate draught more. Although I have burnt some leaves on my jades in the spring haha

    Nice work on the juniper Xin!
    I think a rabbit would have snipped those seedlings completely off. Should be something smaller like a mouse maybe. I don't know of any birds of insects that could do this but who knows...
    If the cambium was not chewed off all around the trunk there is still hope for them. I hope they make it. 🤞

    You should let one of the unused branches at the apex grow as a sacrefice branche. Remove all side branches from it and Just let it grow long for a year or 2 atleast.

    • @MaybeBonsai
      @MaybeBonsai  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that’s a good idea, There are small branches at the apex, but really small right now. I will let one of them grow next year as a sacrifice branch to thicken up the trunk, thanks 👍
