The second statement is fake, BUT i think it might be a misunderstanding. The value of a coin fluctuates depending on the person who holds it, someone might accept less coins from John Wick in exchange for more resources, and more coins from a regular assassin for less resources.
The reason that the assassins wear suits is because a suit never looks out of place. Whether you're in a fast-food joint or 5 star restaurant, coffee shop or opera, unemployment line or penthouse gala, you can find someone in a suit, and they look like they belong. It's the ultimate disguise for hiding in plain sight.
I... never thought of this before... You have a point, but I don't think it works if you're bald, have a barcode on the back of your head, and if you pair a black suit with a red tie. For some reason, that combination never blends in...
09:30 Alcohol can thin the blood. However, when an appropriate amount is used in conjunction with medical treatment it is safe and helps dull the pain without loosing to much of your faculties. History shows that it has been used for pain reduction for centuries. The problems of blood thinning can occur when drinking to excess. Good on you to educate the audience on the dangers of drinking when injured. Thumbs up just for that!!!!
the big problem with drinking while hurt is you're more likely to further injure yourself, because alcohol inhibits judgement more than dedicated pain killers, so you're more likely to do things you shouldn't.
Work in an ER, recently had a guy die because he'd ruined his liver from truly excessive drinking. He started bleeding and just never stopped. Not exactly what is referred to here, but still relevant I think.
"The lack of hollywood beauty somehow makes it more beautiful." THAT RIGHT THERE. It's why I love the entire series of movies. The brutal is brutal and just so unnervingly real in it's execution.
John Wick 2 is one of the few movies to realistically display this. He uses 3 different guns in that crypt scene. Even this one too. If you count the rounds, he actually reloads when he would actually need to instead of firing 50 rounds from an 11 round magazine before roeloading
Round counting is a great skill to make use of Helps to keep track of your magazine's supply and when you might want to reload, and when you need to reload That's not to say that it's a skill that can be mastered perfectly, in a firefight, it can be a trip to easily miscount and run dry at an awkward time
what? the reloading of his guns and some of the fighting/shooting techniques are the ONLY realistic things in the movie. everything is over exaggerated "hollywood magic".
I love that viggo didnt know what the dog meant to John but instantly realizes crossing him in any way shape or form results in death, which implies that before he retired john was truly someone terrefying that if you hurt in some way your chances of living were zero, but then Viggo hears john say why the puppy meant so much to him and he realizes why John didn't care why he fought so hard
The scene where he killed the man with a knife and stared into his eyes as his soul left his body gives me goosebumps even though i watched it no less than 37 times
One of my favorite scenes is when Jimmy the Cop is at the door. He's all polite and professional, sees the body on the floor. Then he takes his hat off (not in cop mode) and asks him if he's working again? That simple motion reveals the thin line dividing the everyday world and John Wick's world.
Movie: *kills human* Audience: “Eh.” Movie: *kills dog* Audience: *war screaming* edit: the fact I still get notifications on this is bonkers. it’s been five years fellas wth
I think I remember hearing from someone that when Marcus shot the pillow next to John in the continental scene wasn’t a mistake. Marcus shot at John, not to kill him, but to warn him, get him on edge and ready for when the woman snuck into his room to attempt to kill him. Marcus wasn’t trying to kill John, he was watching over him kind of like a sniper guardian angel
A cool note to this, when they show Marcus aiming at John’s head before he looks up at Perkins, you see Marcus’ hair blow in the wind showing his shot accounting for the wind taking the round slightly to the left
@@evanpatterson7322 i guessed that, though never said, it felt like it was implied that he was an amazing sniper that never missed, and a good sniper accounts for wind, so the discrepancy between his scope view and where the shot landed just made me reasonably assume wind resistance. I love how the movie makes you think
@@dreamcatcherjulie1 Yeah, but now you're a man with nothing to lose and years of experience in a field that makes mafiosos shit themselves when they hear your name.
One detail I liked about this movie - and that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned in the video - is just how well Viggo knows John. Iosef and antagonists in the sequels all express complete shock and surprise at the lengths John will go to just to avenge a dog. Viggo isn't remotely surprised, and in fact (and this part you did mention) he knew exactly how this was going to play out the moment he heard what Iosef did. A little detail in his conversation with Iosef reveals why. He points out something that none of the other antagonists did about Daisy's death; that it happened a few days after John's wife died. John's rampage was never about the stolen Mustang or dead dog, and Viggo knew that before the rampage even started.
AND THEN HE USED IT TO AGGRAVATE HIM BEFORE HE "STRANGLES" HIM.. the whole god took your wife because you don't deserve a good life, and he has an infectious curse to anyone who gets close, he was twisting the knife!!!!!!
Man Lil “I’m your Mafia boss, and my son just killed John Wick’s dog. I’m going to give up my son’s location, and continue to antagonize John Wick. If you have cut rate insurance, you could be paying for this whole mess with your life. So, it’s time to switch to Allstate to be protected from mayhem, like me.”
Yeah, the whole movie feels like people continually escalating and escalating when they REALLY should cut their losses and let it go. ...Unfortunately, the matter is personal to them, so neither of them can let it go. Killing John's sniper buddy was a REALLY dumb move, but at that point, Viggo's just lost his son and it's that guys fault, so...I don't blame him for escalating further, even if it was a dumb move.
Besides, with all the damage John has done to his mafia empire (burning all his money and blackmail material, and killing SO MANY of his men), even if he did survive the whole thing, he's not returning to his past life. He's too smart to not know that a mafia leader with no money, no bargaining chips, and no goons is basically a dead man walking. Since he's fucked anyway, might as well drag a few more people down to hell with him.
The whole franchise is based on the premise of people who really should know better going out of their way to piss off the most dangerous man on earth.
It's believable. He's in grief over losing his son (in that scene with Marcus he blames him for that death) and does it despite knowing it would turn Wick's wrath back on him. He then hopes the woman whose name I forget will keep him busy enough to escape, but the Continental steps in to execute her and let slip to Wick where Viggo was running to.
I am so happy you recognised the fact that Daisy the Beagle crawled to John to be next to him, it broke me so hard when I realised that fact and so many of my friends never realise it before I point it out...
@@NikolaosKC nah, if you watch closely, aside from being a trail of blood (from Daisy dragging herself) you can make out some lines of the walking with the paws. If they had put the dog in front of him, there wouldn't be such a wide trail of blood or even any trail at all.
There is no emotion in any of John's eyes except for the explanation. He holds a "thousand yard stare" for every kill. He is purely focused on the task at hand.
What makes Keanu so perfect imho is how perfeclty his quiet understated demeanor fits the character of John Wick. He does not quip or drop one liners. He doesnt do silly things to be flashy, he does not go out of his way to be a masculine power fantasy. He uses extreme brutality, but does so in a dignified, stoic, elegant fashion. Its rough, but beautiful. "Sad Keanu" with his subtle expressions and timeless looks is a fantastic fit. The fact that he was also willing and proved capable to do all the required action is of course the second half to this masterpiece.
Not ALL stunts. But most. The falling of the railing scene, was taken in cuts. And was done by a stunt double. But still pretty impressive how far Keanu goes for his movie's.
Coming back here after watching Chapter 4 First of all, Rest in Power Lance Reddick. My Commander in Destiny, and the Concierge here in the Wick Cinematic Universe Second, John really shows the difference between Friends and Goons. Throughout the series, John and his Friends are always throwing wrenches into the faces of goons and their bosses. Marcus in 1, not as much in 2, Sofia, Winston, and Charon in 3, and his friends in 4. Also John may lose some fights, but he still he keeps going. Truly a force of sheer *fuckin’* will. Also also that his “you can die screaming along side him” speech is still the most he’s spoken in this entire series
John Wick eliminated the Russian mafia after they killed his pet dog, Daisy Doomguy eliminated the demons of hell after they killed his pet rabbit, Daisy Coincidence? I think not
Not true; movie adaptations of popular media (such as comic book movies, movies based on books) can have a built-in fandom that has a fairly good grasp on the material. Watching a movie that you know literally nothing about and is actually good is an amazing experience. Recommend it to everyone.
@@KidaMilo89 disagreements are good :) makes one rethink his opinion or at least argue about it. I think the point of John Wick is to show that full immersion into the violence. More specifically the difference between a professional killer/veteran and a run of the mill gangster. In wars we have seen this statistic, a few very well trained people do most of the killing the rest are just there for statistics ... I am guessing that in a gang war situation it is the same.
The moment where he watches the guy in his eyes with "death stare" is actually not a death stare but he is confirming his death. When pupils are large it means person's brain is no longer functioning. Always the professional, Jardani, eh? p.s. I know pupils can get larger for numbers of reasons, but considering he just put a knife in his throat and the man's pupils are probably small cause he was aware, John is simply waiting for them to become enlarged
I had to pause this and post a comment, your quote "Someone complains about the dragon burning stuff in his cave, you just say "Have a good night, thanks for not burning me and the rest of the city" is fucking awesome! That is a master analogy ha ha .
Something I really like about cinema wins compared to other reviewers, not necessarily movie reviewers, is that he shows a lot of respect to other reviewers that he took inspiration from. Not to mention how humble he is. It's very refreshing to see in such a cut-throat medium
Actually according to the directors, the Continental and the cops have an agreement, in fact they have this story where even the cops are sort of assassins and they do not want to go to war with the Continental and vice versa
Wasn't the story about a pencil used a few years earlier in the movie :"A History of Violence?" Starring Viggo Mor ... can't remember his last name. The King in Lord of the Rings.
I love the strong eye contact with Viggo's son while he executes the one henchman. It sends a message, no one needs that message explained and it wasn't even mentioned as a win in the video.
I'm pretty sure John Wick isn't an anti-hero like for example The Punisher. I would say he is more of a villain ,or past villain, who tried to be a normal guy but starts to kill people who are just as bad as he is or worse for revenge. He doesn't have a hero quality unlike The Punisher who kill criminals because they are criminals.
Yeah but John wick isn't doing anything heroic like The Punisher or Deadpool or many others at the end of the day they are saving someone they're just not doing it like Captain America or Superman John Wick isn't saving anyone he's avenging someone so he's not an anti-hero he's a man out for Revenge there's nothing heroic about that
7:23 Also like to point out that the guy is also the SMARTEST guy in the whole movie. He knows John has the drop on him and that he's no match for him. So he doesn't try to provoke him. And when John offers him a way out, and a chance to live, he's smart enough to TAKE IT! Smart move.
I can't be sure about this, not being trained in anything, but shooting to the body will at least incapacitate someone, even if they are wearing body armor, giving him time to properly line up the head shot. But I don't know much.
@@MDMoore6 It takes a badass to walk away from a bullet like it was nothing . But i meant that they say he waste bullets but then in cinema wins they admire how he shoots at the body than shoots a headshot
most places teach 1-2 center of mass, 2nd or 3rd should be a headshot. You see Wick do that a LOT. 1 or 2 in the chest to stop the guy then the kill shot with the head. Sometimes 2 to the head if the first wasn't a clean shot. It really is pretty accurate.
Cinema sins is about nitpicking and overblowing things they don't like for the sake of humour rather than review. Cinema wins is about squeeing about everything they do like while pointing out the bits the movie does right that might be overlooked. Technically they aren't even the same genre.
One of my favorite moments in the film was before going into the nightclub, John talks with the bouncer/guard outside who just doing his job and gives him the opportunity to just walk away.
SolBlade_Megiddo you know I always believed that it was because John recognized that the guy may have a family. I mean, if you’re always in the business of killing people you only see a target, an enemy. After John got out he probably saw what some people had in the other side: families, loved ones, and friends. After losing his wife he probably knew that those same people will go through what he did and wanted the guy to just go home and leave like he did to enjoy that side of his life more. Obviously John knew him personally, so that probably helped too.
Alternate Endgame ending: John Wick: (steps through portal) Did someone call? Doctor Strange: Thanos killed your dog. (Years later) Tony Stark: I saw John Wick kill Thanos with a pencil! A f***ing pencil!
Yep, i did forget those things, i think i also forgot a shirt, a pillow, feathers, a bottle, a fork, sharpener, wire, fan blade, glasses... *ten centuries later* Paper, chicken, fish, gravity, and a lot of other things that i am sure i forgot P.S: i’m gonna edit this comment so it’s a tad funnier, so i would suggest editing your comments 😁👍🏻
Legit the line " ...and your son took that from me... stole that from me.... *KILLED THAT FROM ME* " gives me chills every time I see it, its so fcking emotional and just so well acted from keanu. Idk. I think its the best scene in the whole movie, just because u can really imagine what hes going thru just with those few words.
Yeah. After that beginning scene I’m just in the theater laughing my ass off thinking “holy shit, John Wick is a badass! Who made this” then I comes to that scene. I don’t think there’s a better action movie out there. It’s one of my all time favorites.
5:18 I think you're wrong on the mag drop part, I'm pretty sure it was john's own mag that he dropped, in order to bait the goon into thinking he's empty so he'll feel more confident in checking that corner, thus allowing john to counter-attack
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents." That quote comes to mind when Iosef says he's not afraid of the Boogeyman.
Count the number of rounds in each gun, if you're a gun nut and you know mag sizes and everything else you'll notice they usually use the correct amount of bullets before reloading Olschool military training taught to put two bullets in the chest and 1 in the head to be sure they stay dead. There's a part of me that thinks John's dad was in the military and trained his son how to kill people in case it "came in handy"
If you have watched John Wick 2, that is a point there as well. At the museum scene, John Wick's gun has 7 bullets. He fires exactly 7 shots before grabbing a gun from a corpse. And that repeats, he doesn't have his own weapons he is bringing, he has to "eat what he kills" as it were. And I think that the realistic action scenes, and the ammo counting compared to the "John Woo specials" is what sets Wick both 1 and 2, and 3 next month, apart from other action movies.
I thought that he had too many bullets per mag, then I realised that he was using an extended mag😑. Quick question: is that a compensator on his other pistols.
I’m commenting this even though I haven’t reached the end of the video, but at 7:40, I read somewhere online that the reason why John is staring deep into that guy’s eyes is because he’s actually waiting for the pupils to dilate or constrict to see when he’s actually dead. I don’t quite remember which one of the two it is, but that’s just the amazing attention to detail this movie puts in.
part of what I like about John wick is that guns are not a bottmless pit of bullets. They will eventually run out and will need to be reloaded. Part of why Wick is so badass is that he can not only shoot well like all the other action heroes, but he can reload as well.
correction: plays the entire lifetime of John Wick (Keanu Reeves) We probably can't see the whole video because he lives like eternally. Please reply to me of who all the meme gods are. Edit: I'm begging y'all. I want to know how many gods there are in this meme universe.

If only Disney hadn't sent it out to die a miserable death, just to prove that 2D animated films no longer made money, so they could justify a switch over to an almost totally 3D-Oriented Feature lineup in the early 2000s. ...Man, I'd love to see Disney use some of their "We Own Everything Except Harry Potter and DC" Money to make a traditional 2D film. Even if they just used Flash, like Dofus, or the new My Little Pony series. I'll bet their artists could do something truly awe-inspiring.
5:19 Funnily enough, that isn't the goons magazine dropping to the floor, that's John's. He catches his while reloading, THEN drops it to bait out the assassins.
2:24 Something that keeps coming up in the sequel, that I only just realised (when it was pointed out to me) was that John is often briefly shown with wings behind him or a circle above or behind his head, building up the imagery of him genuinely being the angel of death to the criminal underworld.
12:23 something interesting is how John jumped a little showing that even though he skilled he is still fallible and mayhem legitimately got him off guard and if he got even a little bit luckier with that shot HE could have been the one to kill the boogeyman
Thanos: You should have gone for the- John Wick: Oh I did, while you were talking I tore off your limbs, chopped off your head and destroyed your entire army. I must say, that almost made me break a sweat. Oh wait, why do you have 6 of my gall stones in a glove?
5:57 that's a recurring move I've noticed throughout the movies, where John has a knife against someone's throat and has to smack it to get it past their block. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I see it as a representation for why Jonathan is the best. He's not the strongest, he's the most relentless.
As a martial artist, I loved this film. I kept seeing the fight screens and going, "Hey, I know how to do that!" Combine real martial arts with realistic no holding back with nut shots, biting, and hair pulling makes the entire movie feel real.

I freaking love this movie. The dialogue, the action scenes, the score!
Wick doesn't have unlimited ammo, he just has enough ammo
John Wick 2 is one of the few movies to realistically display this. He uses 3 different guns in that crypt scene. Even this one too. If you count the rounds, he actually reloads when he would actually need to instead of firing 50 rounds from an 11 round magazine before roeloading
aim for the head .
Elder Bolton exactly. A thing i absolutely like about that film
This is a perfect explanation for infinite ammo in movies
Round counting is a great skill to make use of
Helps to keep track of your magazine's supply and when you might want to reload, and when you need to reload
That's not to say that it's a skill that can be mastered perfectly, in a firefight, it can be a trip to easily miscount and run dry at an awkward time
"The lack of 'Hollywood magic' somehow makes it all the more beautiful", nailed the genius of John Wick there.
Beauty * I figure it’s a rough translation
what? the reloading of his guns and some of the fighting/shooting techniques are the ONLY realistic things in the movie. everything is over exaggerated "hollywood magic".

Isn't this obvious?
A cool note to this, when they show Marcus aiming at John’s head before he looks up at Perkins, you see Marcus’ hair blow in the wind showing his shot accounting for the wind taking the round slightly to the left
@@evanpatterson7322 i guessed that, though never said, it felt like it was implied that he was an amazing sniper that never missed, and a good sniper accounts for wind, so the discrepancy between his scope view and where the shot landed just made me reasonably assume wind resistance.

John Wick: Calmly and efficiently annihilates entire Russian Mafia.
Sleep safe pupper
No, the Dog's not dead, you heard the guy.
"for legal reasons that's a joke"
That's how mafia works
John Wick: One of the few people to take "I'm about to end this man's whole career" literal.
What I get most from John Wick is the Stupidity of killing John Wick's Sniper buddy just after he unleashed a storm over killing his Pet Dog.
I love how the myth of John Wick is mostly established by the people who know him even before the first action sequence
Its brilliant

Coming back here after watching Chapter 4
First of all, Rest in Power Lance Reddick. My Commander in Destiny, and the Concierge here in the Wick Cinematic Universe
Second, John really shows the difference between Friends and Goons.

@@KidaMilo89 disagreements are good :) makes one rethink his opinion or at least argue about it. I think the point of John Wick is to show that full immersion into the violence. CinemaSins : John wick is bullet waster
CinemaWins : Its crazy how he shoots 3 shots then gives the headshot

Count the number of rounds in each gun, if you're a gun nut and you know mag sizes and everything else you'll notice they usually use the correct amount of bullets before reloading
Olschool military training taught to put two bullets in the chest and 1 in the head to be sure they stay dead.
Tom Miller I think John’s former life may have been in the military, hence, the Marine tattoos

I thought that he had too many bullets per mag, then I realised that he was using an extended mag😑. Quick question: is that a compensator on his other pistols.
@@daddy_.rome0 Yes he uses a compensator to reduce recoil per shot
I’m commenting this even though I haven’t reached the end of the video, but at 7:40, I read somewhere online that the reason why John is staring deep into that guy’s eyes is because he’s actually waiting for the pupils to dilate or constrict to see when he’s actually dead.
The reason Yosef steals the mustangs is because it’s a 1969 boss 429. Only 800 were made
The more u know....
Yosef is still a fucking bastard when he killed the dog he deserved a fucking Iron Maiden or some shit
Ashantar Taran iron maidens never existed they were made up
Wyatt Crosby I know that buddy and we all know it’s fictional use to kill slowly
Wyatt Crosby but then again one was found in Germany during the 1800s
@@wyattcrosby9558 Objection! Teenage Dirtbag clearly references Iron Maiden.
I wasn’t into action movies, but John Wick and Equalizer changed my mind
12:23 something interesting is how John jumped a little showing that even though he skilled he is still fallible and mayhem legitimately got him off guard and if he got even a little bit luckier with that shot HE could have been the one to kill the boogeyman
8:14 The red shirts scene was actually an homage to Star Trek, per the DVD commentary.... Double Win for Each Red Shirt Kill!!!
Thanos: You should have gone for the-
John Wick: Oh I did, while you were talking I tore off your limbs, chopped off your head and destroyed your entire army. I must say, that almost made me break a sweat. Oh wait, why do you have 6 of my gall stones in a glove?
HAHAHAHAHA MADE MY DAY
John Wick doesn't tea bag. He potato sacks.
How Avengers: Endgame will conclude - they tell John that his dog was dusted in the Snap
sick theory
But then endgame wouldnt really be a movie more like a TV episode.
Antonio Carniero more like an advert
Naah mate. They tell ultra instinct shaggy that scooby dissapeared.
@@davidj3841 nahh he can do it with less than his base form
5:57 that's a recurring move I've noticed throughout the movies, where John has a knife against someone's throat and has to smack it to get it past their block.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I see it as a representation for why Jonathan is the best. He's not the strongest, he's the most relentless.
BIG TEXT ON SCREEN SAY SKIP TO 0:00, SO ME DO THAT AND IT TELL ME DO AGAIN SO ME DO! LITTLE WEIRD BUT OVERALL 10/10 VIDEO!
gamemonkey13 WHY ARE YOU YELLING?
Yggdrasil42 he’s not yelling he’s just typing in caps
I chuckled. This was actually funny :D
@@ToxicSkull0 typing in caps means yelling
WHY USE MORE WORD WHEN FEW WORD DO TRICK?
Everything *great* about John Wick.
We'll be here for a while
FINALLY! Now do John Wick 2, and *INTERSTELLAR* PLEASE
Interstellar! Now! Gah!
TheStevenofSuburbia it’s not possible.
heintz256 no, it's necessary.
Omg has Interstellar not been done yet? Man, it needs to be!
As a martial artist, I loved this film. I kept seeing the fight screens and going, "Hey, I know how to do that!" Combine real martial arts with realistic no holding back with nut shots, biting, and hair pulling makes the entire movie feel real.
