I can't believe you missed the question "are you working John" being asked by different people and each time its asked for completely different reasons. giving depth to the same line is always a win.
One of my favorite moments from this movie was the moment I realized his fight with Cassian outside the hotel had no soundtrack. You could hear cars in the distance, you heard each grunt and thud. It didn't have music to make you feel like it was heroic or tragic. It was grounded, real, and dangerous.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video and I'm only just now noticing that when John says "You wanted me back... I'm back," the screen behind him changes from John's trademark teal to a fiery red when he says "I'm back," symbolizing his acceptance of his return to his old self! I have to say that's another win for JW2!
You were correct about the "doing her one last favor" they said a few times they felt people misunderstood the scene, as the script reads something like "John kills her to save her soul"
Eggactly. He even holds her hand and you can tell that these two know one another well enough from previous in universe interactions, that him shooting her in the end is exactly how they both wanted it to go down.
gotta appreciate keanu reeves determination for this role, cause he was actively training 5 gun for this and it really paid off. those gun scenes are all ledgit.love it
As a gun guy, i really like how you pointed out some gun facts. Was something that most wouldn't have done, but at the same time helps explain some things and add to them with the addition of those facts.
Precisely, There are the details I notice whenever watching a film that has guns, theres so many films that could have been miles better if only they knew how guns worked, granted John Wick films definitely have a few things I would nit pick, they are definitely exceptions to the rule.
One of my favorite things is how they said they know the way John holds guns isn't proper but just done for an extra layer of flair without pulling an equilibrium
i never hold a gun in my life nor i know how them work..but i know that gun only have 5-20 ish bullet in it..but most of the movie ive seen like gun have infinite ammo😂😂.. even a drum megazine can hold 100+ bullet i presume😂
John wick chapter 2 was done by the way every video game sequel should be made. Keep what makes it unique, capitalize on what makes it good and expand on it, giving your client more and bigger.
@Nybbl er I'm so damn stupid. I thought it was just the belarusian way of saying his name... Kinda like John would be "Jean" in French. It does make sense though. Well...Except maybe that he speaks perfect English, but he may have been born in New-York after all.
@@aleflippy1997 dude have you never heard his accent? Idk if it's Keanu himself but John Wick has a very distinct accent. He's clearly not a native American from the first movie.
@@Ten_Thousand_Locusts I don't know...He sounds like Keanu to me. Never thought he faked any accent. Maybe he sounds "off" to you, but that may be from the fact that he's Canadian. Most people think aikido is mostly defensive but it works by breaking joints and taking your opponents weapon off them....often while using it on them. Surprisingly brutal and very Wickian
I remember reading somewhere that the Subway scene had so many oblivious people in order to show how immersed people are in their phones that they couldn’t even notice a gun fight happening right around them.
About that gunfight scene in the subway (with silencer), it is possible that their guns would be quiet enough to not be heard (with all the noise around them). A very good suppressor with subsonic ammo is very quiet, people may think it's just a nail gun or a hammer
John wick is kind of like the fight club for this generation. All the dude bros love it for the badass aspects while also appealing to the film nerds for all its depth and symbolism.
I'm not sure it appeals to the "dudebros", Keanu Reeves as John Wick isn't the stereotypical "alpha male" action hero (think Arnie in Predator or Terminator, or anything Fast & Furious). He just wants to be left the fuck alone and live normal, boringly routine life, but he won't take shit when push comes to shove. And while it's a bit over the top at times, it's also strikingly more realistic than the run-off-the-mill spectacular action movies that will do retarded shit just to be more cinematic, and ends up being a lot classier for it When it comes to action movies, John Wick is basically the M-B AMG C63 S coupé to F&F's Chevy Camaro
Your use of Neon Noir was actually great timing cause I was recently reflecting on the Blade Runners and Altered Carbon and used "Neon Noir" to describe the genre (also probably my favorite).
The subway scene might have been possible with sub-sonic rounds and a decent silencer. This accounts for the lack of the quick snap of a projectile going supersonic. Accounting for the general din of a subway station and apathy of strangers, its not that unrealistic.
I remember the director saying they put that scene in because people are so apathetic on the NY Subway that you could get shot and die, but people would just look the other way and step around you. The implication is that while people would notice a shootout on the Subway, nobody would react to it. It was basically very subtle satire.

It's wonderful that he had an ally look after his dog named Charon. Especially when someone said that Keanu Reeves and Kylie Minogue looked like Hades and Persephone once.
Speaking of CQC he switchs to the M4-better suited for close quarters combat-which John anticipated bc he knew the catacombs would be the best location for an ambush. Another win!!!

@@yikesvikes He called them silencers, not supressors.
Norbert Klar he does say silencer, but he also specifies that they do not work like they do in the movie. So your point is moot. His terminology is iffy but his understanding of them is clear

At the very least a guy that did proper gun research.

Wow you didn't even include where Fishburne says, "SOMEBODY PLEASE GET THIS MAN A GUN."
If you look very closely in all of Laurence Fishburne's scenes, you can actually see the teethmarks on the scenery

@Nybbl er I'm so damn stupid. I thought it was just the belarusian way of saying his name... Kinda like John would be "Jean" in French.
It does make sense though. Well...Except maybe that he speaks perfect English, but he may have been born in New-York after all.
He’s technically a JoJo. Take the Jo from John and the Jo from his last name.
Maybe he sounds "off" to you, but that may be from the fact that he's Canadian.

aleflippy1997 I think it’s implied he’s an orphan adopted in NY by the Belarusians. And I’m assuming they don’t import all the kids from Belarus. So he wouldn’t necessarily have a Belarusian accent...

And while it's a bit over the top at times, it's also strikingly more realistic than the run-off-the-mill spectacular action movies that will do retarded shit just to be more cinematic, and ends up being a lot classier for it
When it comes to action movies, John Wick is basically the M-B AMG C63 S coupé to F&F's Chevy Camaro

Dude, I lost you after might have been possible
I remember the director saying they put that scene in because people are so apathetic on the NY Subway that you could get shot and die, but people would just look the other way and step around you.
The implication is that while people would notice a shootout on the Subway, nobody would react to it. It was basically very subtle satire.
Pistols are sub-sonic rounds anyway.
