    Thank you for the Great Video. For me this is real close to my heart. My father sailed for APL / Sealand when I was a kid. He said he would bring me along for a Pacific trip to Japan. He never got the chance to do it. He passed away. He was a third generation Merchant Marine and a Captain.
    Thanks aging for the Memories

    Thanks to these awesome vlogs, i now have that bug again lol. I miss the sea so much now. Was in the US Navy for 6 years aboard CVN-70 USS Carl Vinson from 1998 - 2004 as an Aviation Ordnanceman, and now, at 41 years old, i would give my left eye to be abaord the Montana with you as a crewmate (shipmate). I miss the smell of salt water in the air, the spray of the sea during storms, the sound of the gulls overhead close to land, the sunsets and the comradarie. Im probably too old for Maersk operations now but sure would love to be out on the sea again. Thanks for sharing your vlogs with us. Fair winds and following seas.

    I was an AB for over 40 yrs, sailing on most types of ships, container ships are the most boring for an AB, had the good
    fortune to sail on a few Maersk gas tankers in the mid 80s carrying methane worldwide, good ships withgood food
    and plenty of overtime, retired now and reside in Thailand.

      Oil on the floor would be a serious fire hazard.
      Also if there's oil on the floor, there'd be a problem, like a oil leak. It'd be extremely important to fix that.

    Thanks for getting back to me, enjoyed your tour. When I was 10, my Family was on our standard two week
    Vacation in New Hampshire. We met and became friends with a Merchant Marine officer, who was an Engineer
    On the Tanker Gulfknight. He had a cottage next to ours and we invited him on several boat trips. He was a true Sailor , born in Norway. This was back in the mid fifties, and Mr. Stenslin made a very strong impression on myself and my Family.

    Maersk Montana! Built in 2006. Love the action room/engine room. Loved the turbo on the aux engine. Think I counted 8 cylinder pots & 8 injectors to the main engine. I'm a truck mechanic by trade however I am now an exercise consultant (bachelor in sport & recreation) and naturally I loved the GYM! Here's my tip for you and it's not gonna cost you a cent. Ask the skipper/boss to invest in a Rowing Ergometer. It is the best piece of cardio & all-body strength equipment money can buy. If you want me to show you how to use it - then your boss will have to employ me. Loved the movie room! 20:29 - how romantic - the love boat...What fascinated me about your sweet vid is that I didn't see one fellow worker on board. Are you the only employee onboard? I guess nobody was working on Thanksgiving 2017...

    Great video. I appreciate the tour of the spaces that you don't normally see. Just amazing that anyone can make sense of all the pipes, valves, cables, fitting, and so forth- especially behind bulkheads or under decks. I still don't understand why there isn't a conning room or wheelhouse at the front of the ship to help put some eyes on what's ahead. I can see needing the bridge and it's wings aft during mooring but not underway, especially with containers stacked high and in heavy shipping lanes. Would be like driving a pickup truck from the rear cargo bed while trying to look around a load of appliances still in their boxes!

    Did my internship on a Maersk ship when at Cal Maritime as a first class midshipman. Not the Montana but the Lexa and the Laust back in the late 80's. Got to ride out with the pilot as well! This brings back memories...Thanks!

    My hubby works for Maersk, I won’t share his position in the company, but I’ve had an opportunity to sail with him, and this brings back memories for me!

      If you travelled with him, he's either a captain or a chief 😂 I'm a sailor too

    • @melsupalami
      @melsupalami 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Grimwiz you are correct, he is a Captain, but he holds another function within the company, so he’s not currently sailing as a captain of his own vessel

    Awesome video. I’ve always been fascinated by commercial ships and photograph them whenever I see them. The engine room was especially interesting.
