    That really bring me back. I worked on an entertainment vessel for ten years. It was the greatest job I ever had...and the best time of my life. Nighttime, dusk and dawn were the best times overall. Once your eyes adjust to the pitch black sky, stars, planets and the entire section of the Milky Way galaxy we were able to see, became as bright and visible as a cloud would be during the daytime. Also, we saw every type of aquatic life imaginable...huge pods of dolphins, sharks, basking sunfish, breaching and/or feeding humpback whales and jellyfish by the tens of thousands at times. There really are no words to describe how peaceful and incredible it is out there on the ocean...a person would have to experience it out there themselves, in the darkness of night to really get a sense of what it's like.
    Great volg...i just subscribed~

    You've got a very interesting career. I cannot imagine the mass of information that's required in order to keep things "ship shape" as you do. It's an awesome responsibility, I know, even though I don't know the half of it. Those shots of the Gulf of Mexico are absolutely stunning. It's incredible to be out on the open seas like that.

      It does look rather appealing to be at Sea..But only if you have good Shipmates.

      I am so glad I saw your comments. I was starting to think that I must be crazy to be interested in watching someone take a bunch of temperature readings but these videos give you a great feel for what it must be like to work on a container ship. Really impressed at how clean and organized everything is.

      @@charlesreid2141 well you have to remember not everything in life is exciting I'm just taking people long as I work on a ship it's not an exciting topic but yes some people try to make everything exciting and fake in videos but I don't do that I just record and show what it's actually like working on and there's really nothing exciting about it it's a rather lonely life and hard work so I just keep it real

    I’m glad I bumped into your channel. It’s perhaps more than a coincidence that it popped up in my TH-cam feed. You see, my father was vice president and general manager of Southeastern maritime company in Savannah, Georgia years ago. It was a stevedoring company. He never talked much about what he did, except near the end of his life, he developed a maritime accounting system back in the 1930s in Cuba. It subsequently became the one that was used internationally for a long time, and may still be in use today.
    When we were kids, our family was invited to have these incredible seven-course meals with the captain and other officers. I was always fascinated by the sea and ships. And that was in the 1960s, before containers and container ships.
    I’ve always wondered what it was like to be a member of the crew on a freighter and I’m grateful that you will be the conduit.

    Some of the post talk about boring but addicted....I watched a live feed yesterday, Trucker headed across the plains of Kansas......flat highway nothing but fields far as the eye could see....he had engine issues as some device had kicked and and set his speed to 55 mph.....over 10 wheelers passing him like he was sitting still....Without you MM and the truckers.....we would be in a mess.....Thanks for all you do !

I'm so old, I remember when most tugs were steam powered with their tall funnels and huge clouds of black smoke coming out of them. But they were still strong and capable of doing their job fine without Voith Schneider propulsion and advanced electronic aids. Thank you guys, your job is an amazing job!

    This brought back memories. Back in the late 90s we bought three of these ships and converted them to RO/RO cargo ships.
    We gutted the ship aft of the focsl all the way back to the superstructure. We yanked off the the superstructure at the main deck, and extended the ship about 100 feet aft of the house to make room for a stern ramp.
    The cargo holds were fitted with hoistible decks and ramps. We also slapped on a couple sideports at midship to complete the roll on/roll off capibilty
    On the main deck we added two massive twin pedestal craines. ( we scrapped the old stores gantry) and added another stores crane aft of the house.
    The engine room and auxiliaries remained the same for the most part. We even kept the same door for shaft alley.
    We added an elevator just in front of the mane engine going all the way up to the 06 level.
    I could go on and on, but seeing that engine room sure brought back memories of many sleepless nights during sea trials. LOL

    Excellent video's. I was impressed by your dinner menu I recently did Liverpool - Baltimore on the ACL conro service as a passenger, the food was very poor with no choices. Had to go ashore at Halifax NS for 'provisions' !

      That i nice....My home town I grew up in is Baltimore. Yes the food on ships totally depends on who cooks it, lol. Hope to see you again on some other videos and thank you for watching

    Does the ship use the stabilisers? Back in the OCL days they wouldn’t use them. Fuel saving

    Man I miss being on the water, I spent 1.5 years at sea on board the USS Kitty Hawk. With the fin stabilizers the electrical motors how do you get those out of that area when the need work? Do you have a access hatch to do the job, or do you have to wrangle them up and out through the hatches you went through?

    The stabilizers to minimize roll due upper deck container height?

  • @Oakleaf700
    @Oakleaf700 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You'd not want to be suffering claustrophobia going down those Stabiliser Hatches 11:14 and after.
    Rolling can be really nauseating {Only experienced it on small Cross Channel Ferries as a passenger}
