@@umu I pay my New York bar dues every two years even though I practice in federal court because there is some gravitas to the NY bar license still and if any federal matter somehow leaks into state court (I practice bankruptcy law so it happens) or spawns a state court issue, I don't have to automatically refer it to another lawyer. It would be a walk in the park for an industrious atty. to file a class action on behalf of a group of duped investors....I see that happening eventually....
as someone who has done these types of lawsuits for plaintiff and defendants (got a jury verdict earlier this year) defamation lawsuits are expensive and the plaintiffs usually run when they have to turn over years of taxes and and bank statements etc. that's why you don't really see them that much. some states have anti slapp which makes it more dangerous. as someone who has won jury trials for plaintiffs this is the last case i would consider taking. just my opinion

Accusing GW of PPP fraud could be defamatory if he could prove financial damages as a result. However, doing so is extremely difficult and rarely results in a judgement. And I doubt he'd want the negative attention associated with a drawn-out legal battle. I also doubt that SCR's attacks on GW's credibility has impacted his professional reputation in the tech industry. As far as the sports card market, GW put his business credibility at stake when he advised risky investments. He's fair game in that sense.

The terms of the PPP loan program were simple and straight-forward. If you had deep pocket investors or could raise money though public markets you were EXCLUDED. In Geoff's letter to yourself he states that the reason he took the loan was: "none (of the other ways to raise money) could provide terms that were as financially responsible as the PPP loan program". Well duh, free money from the government is cheaper than your own money - but the point was that if your a deep pocket investor or the business could raise money publicly then the program WAS NOT FOR YOU! Personally, I have no issue with the first PPP loan. No one knew what the future held and there was not much real guidance from the government on the program. But by 2021, there were enough examples of "deep pocket" investors and public companies that took the money and were shamed into giving it back. So his 2nd PPP loan either he's claiming he's poor (which his letter takes great amounts of effort to ensure we know he's rich) or he's claiming..... yeah I just took the money. Money is fungible and in a "Three Five Two is a 25-year-old, mature company that has generated significant profits for decades" type company that money is just cash into Geoff's pocket in Jan 2021. Jan 2021 was very different from April 2020. Cabin fever had more than broken out and if his business was "in person" focused as Geoff claims they should have been swimming in business. The million in 2021 simply increased profits by a million. The one thing in the letter that stood out to me is that Geoff seems to be taking credit for his wife's success! He says he was a "consultant" to her. What's wrong with simply acknowledging your wife was great at building a business and leaving it at that? Nope, he's taking credit for the sale of the company. I'd say he comes across very poorly. I'd just mention that you might want to take the high road. Sophomoric comments about his wife just deflect attention away from his poor look.
Keep up the good work! Know that several real breakers love and appreciate your content. It’s great to see you not backing down and bringing all the people taking advantage of the hobby (but afraid to admit it) to light.
Any one suing in the card market is taking the hobby way too seriously. Cards are meant to collect , have fun, and not to be stressful. See this is what happens when people with more money than brains pile in and try to make this something that its not.They're spending way too much time on the internet to pump their collection and egos and its affecting their mental and emotional wellbeing they start arguing threatening suing. Collect have fun and if the internet is becoming stressful and you don't like what other people are saying just log off.

The part I don't understand is he says the new collector's the hobby stop to see his stuff first and that is the people he is marketing for but he calls himself the sports card investor. There is a big difference between collector's and investors and he sells all the subscriptions for card prices. Someone just getting into the hobby is the last person that needs to be making investment decisions on cards.
I would not do business with people who are sue happy just like i would not do business with scam happy people. The feeling you get when you get exploited by these groups is often the same. In terms of 'winning' the suit or scam, both groups look for edges or advantage plays to help further their their exploit, much like a poker player exploiting another player.
Remember... in a non-AC industry... comps are not real... Only a guide... And all apps get their information from eBay, so no need to pay for a service that is devoid of transparency with incomplete data sets

Accusing GW of PPP fraud could be defamatory if he could prove financial damages as a result. However, doing so is extremely difficult and rarely results in a judgement. And I doubt he'd want the negative attention associated with a drawn-out legal battle. I also doubt that SCR's attacks on GW's credibility has impacted his professional reputation in the tech industry. As far as the sports card market, GW put his business credibility at stake when he advised risky investments. He's fair game in that sense.

The terms of the PPP loan program were simple and straight-forward. If you had deep pocket investors or could raise money though public markets you were EXCLUDED. In Geoff's letter to yourself he states that the reason he took the loan was:
"none (of the other ways to raise money) could provide terms that were as financially responsible as the PPP loan
program". Well duh, free money from the government is cheaper than your own money - but the point was that if your a deep pocket investor or the business could raise money publicly then the program WAS NOT FOR YOU!
Personally, I have no issue with the first PPP loan. No one knew what the future held and there was not much real guidance from the government on the program. But by 2021, there were enough examples of "deep pocket" investors and public companies that took the money and were shamed into giving it back. So his 2nd PPP loan either he's claiming he's poor (which his letter takes great amounts of effort to ensure we know he's rich) or he's claiming..... yeah I just took the money.
Money is fungible and in a "Three Five Two is a 25-year-old, mature company that has generated significant profits for decades" type company that money is just cash into Geoff's pocket in Jan 2021. Jan 2021 was very different from April 2020. Cabin fever had more than broken out and if his business was "in person" focused as Geoff claims they should have been swimming in business. The million in 2021 simply increased profits by a million.
The one thing in the letter that stood out to me is that Geoff seems to be taking credit for his wife's success! He says he was a "consultant" to her. What's wrong with simply acknowledging your wife was great at building a business and leaving it at that? Nope, he's taking credit for the sale of the company.
I'd say he comes across very poorly. I'd just mention that you might want to take the high road. Sophomoric comments about his wife just deflect attention away from his poor look.
Imagine being that old and threatening with litigation. That's the most weakest way to settle something. He's weak and a 🍦

Any one suing in the card market is taking the hobby way too seriously. Cards are meant to collect , have fun, and not to be stressful. See this is what happens when people with more money than brains pile in and try to make this something that its not.They're spending way too much time on the internet to pump their collection and egos and its affecting their mental and emotional wellbeing they start arguing threatening suing. Collect have fun and if the internet is becoming stressful and you don't like what other people are saying just log off.

And I agree, as someone who has tried both MM and CL, Card Ladder is a much better piece of software. And Chris and Josh seem to be much better humans.
The part I don't understand is he says the new collector's the hobby stop to see his stuff first and that is the people he is marketing for but he calls himself the sports card investor. There is a big difference between collector's and investors and he sells all the subscriptions for card prices. Someone just getting into the hobby is the last person that needs to be making investment decisions on cards.
Remember Geoff saying that James Hardon would be a better investment than LeBron James.
I would not do business with people who are sue happy just like i would not do business with scam happy people. The feeling you get when you get exploited by these groups is often the same. In terms of 'winning' the suit or scam, both groups look for edges or advantage plays to help further their their exploit, much like a poker player exploiting another player.
