I like to think the Musical is a prequel to the animated series since it ends with Betelgeuse and Lydia being on good enough terms to become friends and with the leader of the Netherworld, Betelgeuse's mom having been eaten by the sandworm that leaves the Netherworld free to become the more lively place we see in the series instead of a glorified waiting room. Doesn't explain where Adam and Barbara went but maybe they're just offscreen in the cartoon.

This...this is good. not only did you get the good models of the animated series characters but made them feel and have the crazy feeling that the series gave off. Beetlejuice is barely standing still and always doing something, either with transformation or other effects, and acting like he would in the show. it is just a nice level of detail that only someone who is a fan of the series that loves it would get and do. and adding Baraba and Adam that look straight from the movie but in the same look as the show, makes it look like they always belonged there. everything about this is top-notch and you can tell a fan put a great amount of passion into this. 10/10
@@whyamihere6522 that always made me kinda sad tbh, them not being included in the show. i love them in the movie and the musical they're so cute seeing them here was really rad :D
I love how you drew both Adam and Barbara in this animated version. I don’t know why, but because of this video, I both see and realize that Lydia is like the daughter they’ve never had.😊
It’s kind of established further by the musical about them planning on having a baby but not being sure about it until they died. It’s a shame the Maitlands weren’t in the cartoon, cause I could see them looking like this.
@@battybuddyI agree about that. They shoulda added them in the cartoon. They would make things interesting. Plus they would also sees some backstories about both Adam and Barbara.
Not only is the staging absolutely perfect throughout, all the little details are so true to the cartoon I could just about scream. Beetlejuice’s various outfits, all the shapeshifting, Adam and Barbara getting BJ-faces when possessed, them just.. BEING there and so perfectly in the style of the show. Even “I forgot I can fly” like.. Fucking flawless. Top marks, A++++
This honestly made my day! You don’t really see anybody draw BJ and Lydia in the “original cartoon” way. They even share the same energy as in the show! You’re criminally underrated :(
I remember seeing a clip from the cartoon where BJ saw that without him in her life, Lydia was, meek, bullied and alone, because he didn't help her awaken her self-confidence. Consider adding the play-Lydia's backstory of that same girl CONSIDERING SUICIDE to be witg her birth mom, and the manipulative demon being reformed by Lydia's wit and courage into a protective friend becomes heavy and more heartwarming--he basically gave her a reason to keep living.
WOW this is the coolest animatic ever. You did a great job with capturing the animated series style. This could be part of a long lost episode or something. I hope you do more Animatics of this musical. Again, great job
Thanks very much! I admit that I am tempted to pick another song from this musical but I really need a break now and I have at least two other musicals that I want to produce animatics for first so it will be a while yet before I return to Beetlejuice!

It’s surreal to think that Beetlegeuse has three official designs (the movie, cartoon, and stage). I genuinely love when animatics uses that cartoon design since that is what they were made for. I especially love at how everyone moves like an old 80s cartoon here. Great job!
I keep coming back to this because it's my favorite animatic. I would pay to see the entire musical redone in the animated series style. This is fantastic!
I keep coming back to this animatic because it’s almost completely flawless. As a fan of the cartoon, it was a delight to watch. Your Beetlejuice feels straight out of the show as does the humor (the Titanic reference with the possessed Maitlands made me choke on my cereal laughing as much as the Beatles pun made me groan) and his multiple saying-taken-literally transformations; Lydia feels true to character too, a good blend of the movie and show version, more dryly amused by his efforts and sarcastic than I often see in animatics of this song (Lydia tends to be drawn more angry throughout, and this was a nice change.) But Beetlejuice really steals the animatic here. Always in motion, with great expressions and poses, bombastic, snarky, and in your face. So, so perfect. The little references to the show, musical, and movie also had me tickled; I loved the frame with many of the recurring monsters from the show in the bleachers, and the possessed Maitlands having BJ’s eyes and teeth. I also really got a kick out of seeing the Maitlands in the cartoon style; I can definitely see them being designed this way if they had been brought onto the show. So serious kudos; I’d love to see you animate another Beetlejuice musical song, but honestly you impressed me so much I’d be happy to consume any work you put out in the future!
Why did I not see this during the hight of my beetle (juice) mania? Alex Brightman totally wound like a cross between the live action and cartoon Beetlejuice and I looked up (what I thought) was every Beetlejuice: The Musical clip! And now I'm blessed with this one!!?? 10/10 awesome charecter models. I want to give you money for making a dream a reality!

Please please PLEASE do more!!! I really want to see your version of "That Beautiful Sound" and "The Whole 'Being Dead' Thing"!!! It would be so awesome, I just know it!!!
I do love this. You made Beetlejuice and Lydia exactly like the cartoon, and Barbara and Adam look like their OG movie counterparts, so I'm fond of that, too. A lot of the animatics for the musical (all the ones I've seen, in fact) used the stage actors' appearances, which isn't a bad thing at all, but it's nice to see the old ones. That said. What with Barbara and Adam being ghosts, would they have been able to catch Lydia when she did that trust fall towards the end? I feel like she would fall through them. Could be wrong, though. Beetle-verse ghost rules are a weird bunch.
I think it's a matter of willpower; although Adam and Barbara are the types of ghosts that can phase through things ("Oblivion calls so we might as well walk through some walls!"), in both the movie and the musical they have no problem picking up solid objects or wearing bed sheets for haunting purposes so if they want to catch Lydia they can without there being any nasty accidents!
I have watched this one over and over. I just go to it and watch whenever I need a smile. You did such a great job of catching not just the art style but the characters' personalitities from the cartoon. Good job!
I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail and holy shit it lived up to the excitement, the cartoon beetlejuice is my favorite design for him PLUS the movie maitlands??? It's so good it feels like it's straight out of the cartoon! Fantastic job!!!
I absolutely love this, and absolutely love that someone remembers that there was an old cartoon series too (used to watch it a lot a long, long time ago). Also, love that you animated what Adam and Barbara would have looked like in the series - I've always wondered whatever happened to them (shame the movie sequel wasn't made so that we would know).
Thank you very much! I view the animated series as an alternate timeline, one where the Maitlands did end up selling their house to the Deetz' and moved away to live somewhere else. As for how Lydia and Beetlejuice met in this timeline... well, I'm sure there is fanfiction out there that has attempted to figure out the details!
Something that I find to be crazy is that aside from sounding a bit more grizzly, Alex Brightman’s Beetlejuice voice actually sounds a lot like Steven Ouimette‘s voice for the character. Not only that, but I think Alex has the right mannerisms, timing, and energy of Steven’s version of Beetlejuice. I would love it if Warner Brothers decided to make a 3D animated movie that takes inspiration from the animated series. It could take place after the events of the Broadway show and center around Beetlejuice, Lydia, the Deitz, and the Maitlands going on an adventure into the Netherworld. While they’re there, they could run into Beetlejuice’s father, who could be voiced by Micheal Keaton, and who turns out to be the film’s antagonist.
I really love the musical their relationship reminds me of the cartoon and I love that Lydia is so inteligent and she doesn't trust him even tho in this version is not so bad he's just misunderstood kind of 😂 But I love that you use the cartoon design, made me nostalgic
Damn this is awesome! I cant believe you made this song with the cartoon characters version! 😆👍 Also i love your design for the Maitlands! Thats how they would look in the show!
The humor in this video is INSPIRED! I don’t think anyone else has thought to have Beetlejuice dress as one of The Beatles during charades!

@@AnimationLife Hmmm....
Fair enough!
The amount of Love and details you put into this is amazing! :D
Thank you very much! XD
@@AnimationLife You are welcome, I wish you luck in your future endeavors :)
I have watched this one over and over. I just go to it and watch whenever I need a smile. You did such a great job of catching not just the art style but the characters' personalitities from the cartoon. Good job!
The musical is very cartoon core. Specifically the fact that Beetlejuice and Lydia are friends in both versions
I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail and holy shit it lived up to the excitement, the cartoon beetlejuice is my favorite design for him PLUS the movie maitlands??? It's so good it feels like it's straight out of the cartoon! Fantastic job!!!
3 years and it still is a giant W🔥
Infinitely better with the 80's animation forms
You did an absolutely AMAZING job on this! You made them look awesome! Not to mention that the animatic itself is freaking fantastic! Keep it up!🤘💞💞
Even the Maitlands look perfect in the original cartoon style ! Fabulous ! Everything about this is sublime !
This is so cool!!!! I love the cartoon and I was very happy to see them singing my fav song 🤩 BJ is acting like he would act in the original cartoon 💚
Thanks! I watched the cartoon closely to try and get BJ as accurate as possible!
@@AnimationLife u did a great job👍🏼😉
I really love the musical their relationship reminds me of the cartoon and I love that Lydia is so inteligent and she doesn't trust him even tho in this version is not so bad he's just misunderstood kind of 😂
But I love that you use the cartoon design, made me nostalgic
