I just love this depiction of Beetlejuice. The more traditional one comes across less like a demon and more like a ghost, looking corpse-y as he does. This one is way more reminiscent of an actual DEMON, who makes deals and tricks people into giving him power over them. And when you spell out his name the right way, Betelgeuse, like the star and mythologically etymologized name it sounds more like an old demon with a "b" name, liike Belial, Beelzebub, Baal or Baphomet.
This Beetlejuice feels like the modern incarnation of the animated Beetlejuice show on Nickelodeon that I watched religiously as a kid, down to the constant shape-shifting. I L O V E him.
I don't know why, but that last shot of her jumping off because she knows that she could do exactly what she needs as a ghost instead of just doing it to end her life is so aesthetically pleasing

I must say--I'm a retired film editor and frustrated animator (I can barely draw a stick figure) but I did, at least, do sound editing on one cartoon, the Mickey Mouse featurette THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER--but I've looked at several of these animatics on this song, and yours is the most creative and TRULY using the animated art form to enhance and propel the story. You use great poses, and WONDERFUL transitions and gags that really add enormously to the song and the whole spirit of the scene. You should really be hired by somebody!!! I hope and pray Disney and others will return to 2D hand-drawn animation and God, you're good!!
I love that when she climbs on the parapet the first time (when Beetlejuice first approaches her), OC!Lydia wobbles and takes some time to stabilize herself; but the second time (when she has ditched Beetlejuice and has a plan), she gets up without losing equilibrium and oozing confidece. Nice detail :3
In the movie it’s hinted that those that kill themselves become public servants, helping the dead through the afterlife. Beetlejuice used to be one of those peoples… intern? Helper? So it’s possible that he killed himself (the green tint on him and how gross he looks make people theorize that he drowned) and he really didn’t want Lydia to have to become a civil servant. After all, he actually knows the true value of life (why he wants to be alive).

This is definitely an animatic that shows a level of skill I'd like to see in professional full productions. These characters look better than a lot of shows I've seen in the last decade.

This is by far the best animation I've seen for this song so far, not just because of how smooth animation looks, but because of small things like having Beetlejuice excessively shape-shift (unlike many other versions) and great expressions on people's faces. My particularly favorite part is the little skull in Lydia's eyes when she says "What do I need you for?" Wonderfully done.

One of my favorite part it's at 2:12 when Caln is looking down at Wayne with a smug. Like he is saying "you are so cute". Love that kind of thing. Yaoi have successfully corrupted me am afraid.
My favorite part starts in 3:24 when Elizabeth signals the slaughter part as in cut the head off, except the colors change, she has exes in her eyes and her throat got slit by her hand, after that the colors return to normal, but for a split second the colors change again and her eyes still have the exes and her throat has a bleeding cut.
Lydia/the OC in this video says this as in taking his offer is worse than suicide, like his offer would be a last resort. (I'm sorry if this doesn't explain what I mean very well.)

This is by far the best animation I've seen for this song so far, not just because of how smooth animation looks, but because of small things like having Beetlejuice excessively shape-shift (unlike many other versions) and great expressions on people's faces. My particularly favorite part is the little skull in Lydia's eyes when she says "What do I need you for?" Wonderfully done.

@@chrisradek6693 not your fault really, kinda hard to disassociate them because of the song, my favorite part is how he would always show more of his demonic side when she isn't looking.
One of my favorite part it's at 2:12 when Caln is looking down at Wayne with a smug. Like he is saying "you are so cute". Love that kind of thing. Yaoi have successfully corrupted me am afraid.
My favorite part starts in 3:24 when Elizabeth signals the slaughter part as in cut the head off, except the colors change, she has exes in her eyes and her throat got slit by her hand, after that the colors return to normal, but for a split second the colors change again and her eyes still have the exes and her throat has a bleeding cut.

I love how flawlessly and quickly every character transitions between intimidating, hot, and just plain goofy.
I don’t know if you’ll ever see this but if you do, I just wanted you to know; 3 years ago when this was first posted I was obsessed. I watched it over and over and over again and I learned all the lyrics to the song and got my friend obsessed with the song and then we discovered it was from a musical. For three years we’ve been obsessing over this musical we’ve never seen but just a few days ago it finally came to where I live and we both got to see that amazing musical in person. I know this sounds all sappy and over dramatic but honest to god, you’re the reason I’m even into musicals in the first place and I wanted to thank you sooooo much for that!!!
