Hi, Mongolian here!
Throat singing is mostly about praising of the eternal blue sky, water goddesses and the Altai mountains. So there is no heavy emotions involved expect for praising the nature. Mongols don’t have a god figure but pray to the eternal blue sky 🙂

@@user-qg1wj7wh8i Oh so Tenger is not a personal god but the sky itself has some divinity if i understood correctly. In Turkish there is a meaning shift in word Tengri. We call it Gök Tengri, i think you call it Kokh Tenger. So apperantly it was meant to be like:
Gök/Kokh = Blue
Tengri/Tenger = Sky
but meaning of the words have changed in modern Turkish so it became:
Gök/Kokh = Sky
Tengri/Tenger = God
So that is why i got confused.
Hungarian here! Although we live in central europe, we originally came from an area neighboring Mongolia, and some of these words carried over into our language as well. As far as I understand, a central point in Tengri is that everything in our world is a reflection of the world of gods. Of course, special attention is always given to the blue sky: when you look down, the thing which serves as the reflection to the eternal blue skies (Tengri) is the sea itself. And thus, the hungarian word for sea became "tenger".
Despite the fact that Hungarians travelled to the other end of the Eurasian continent and took up Christianity in the 10th century, this word survived, which I think is pretty amazing.
As a Mongolian person, I assure you he is proud singing his country side, steppes and its beautiful nature. Almost like he is imaging the images in his head. 🙃

That's such a good question. I think, as is the case with truly profound music from anywhere in the world (especially including Sufi singing), the answer is probably "yes," as someone who truly understands life knows that it is bittersweet by nature.

The lyrics have a very spiritual meaning, its about praising the mountains and worshipping the sky.

Greetings from Mongolia! I've just found this channel, watched every single video and instantly loved these beautiful tribal people. They're so genuine and passionate about new things. And I really love these passions. This traditional Mongolian art piece is called "Huumii or Hoomii" in Mongolian. Actually, there are very rare people professionalized this art and rest of the Mongolians usually do admire this piece of art. Throat singing usually contains positive meanings and express further good will to everyone. It is very ancient heritage that the most of urban people couldn't understand the lyrics word by word, because it is heavy accented. I was so grateful and happy to see them enjoying our traditional thing. I would be so glad to let them know that whole world is watching you beautiful people and even the far east region, Mongolian people do watch them as well.

I loved the way the split-screen effect showed everybody sat there slightly stunned/in awe of the singing except Muharam who was just grooving away at the top! Perhaps they could watch some opera or ballet for a future video?

One of the things to listen for with throat singing is the sort of whistling noise going on above the main voice. It’s a human making two pitches at once.

Awesome, Mongolian music has long been my favorite music, and Batzorig among them. The tribespeople were all very openminded and considerate and it was nice when the instrument he mentioned was shown to us so that we could compare. This is one of the better try channels. I would love to hear the stars of this channel making a little music, if they feel comfortable doing so. I hope the little child gets water to go with their snack.

i really really like how open minded these people are... i tried to make some people i know listen to mongolian throat singing (and other kind of "ethnic" music like indonesian gamalan) and they just laugh AT the musicians call them stupid and mock them, just being judgmental like most western people are while these people that are exposed to less or have less access to different things are much more openminded and while they sometimes laugh it is not a mean spirited judgmental laugh AT the people but just a WOW surprised kind of laugh

I tried getting my family listen to Chinese Bus Chenyu's music 'Nunchucks' and the Korean pop singer/dancers BlackPink... They're just not interested.
I think sometimes people fall into subcultures and develop this group identity over the silliest things. "Oh, I'm a _listens to pop music_ person. I don't listen to _this."_ Cue lots of stupid, pointless meanness and bickering.
Honestly, probably one of the biggest things I miss about my childhood is how blissfully unaware I was about toxic fandoms -- I could just like what I liked without feeling self-conscious about whatever "fandom" I was getting lumped in with, and I didn't feel like having different tastes from someone else was somehow putting them down. We just liked different things, and if they were going to be weird about it then that was their problem.
At the heart all people are simple and loving. The society and many times We ourselves condition ourselves.
I really liked the old man Abdul. He is very broad minded. Simplicity of the others is too, very charming.

I’m honestly really enjoying how intrigued and curious everyone of them are when they were listening to Batzorig. Abdul seems to be the most curious, since I’ve noticed he leans forward to listen intently. What a bunch of wholesome individuals. I think it would be fun to see how they react to Powwow Regalia dance contest and Drum Circles. The Indigenous peoples of Canada and the U.S. have very interesting cultures and gather to sing and dance and share their culture. These gatherings are called Pow Wow.
