An MC who wants to be the villainess but with a comedic twist...I'm in but how about everyone else? See my full uncut live reactions to the episodes over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
I just watched ep 1 and 2, and I love it. I especially like the hint of mystery being dropped here and there. The Prince has a secret, who was he talking to in his room? Alicia's father is hinting that they are hiding something about Alicia. Those are the 2 question marks I am so interested in at the moment.
This show brings a unique twist because we have Alicia who wakes up excited about being the villainess. Instead of using her memories from her past life to avoid being exiled or killed, she seems to be very excited to go down in history as a villainess. Which is ironic because she's so enamored with the idea of hitting all the tropes that she's already erased what made Alicia evil in the first place (she's described as lazy and spoiled, which could mean the original Alicia just coasted on her talent where as she's giving 200% effort on everything she does...
@@achmodinivswe9500 Yeah, 5 years is nothing. Putting it into better perspective, when she is 20, he is 25, when she is 30 he will be 35. Don't look bad now does it.
Ah yes, she spreads her powerful villainy all across the lands by... (checks notes)... being compassionate and pushing for more equal rights for commoners. ... how evil. And adorable.
An MC that wants to be a villainess when all her actions point to her being a heroine, and the funny thing is that everyone thinks she is crazy for pretending to be a villainess
I agree with your review of this anime. Really good story. Unlike other villainess girls, Alicia's not trying to avoid her future demise. In fact, she welcomes it. She wants to create evil deeds so she can be branded as the most evil villain of them all. Instead she's doing a lot of good deeds for the people. She's not even aware she's helping the people. Her actions remind of Princess Mia Luna Tearmoon. Every action she makes is supposed to make her future execution disappear. Instead, she ends up having the people endear themselves to her because of what they think are selfless actions from Mia. I enjoyed watching this series. Definitely going to stick to the end.
Watchig this the way Alicia wanted to become a Vilainess rather then stray from the path she kinds channels her inner Tanya (Tanya the evil) energy. Will be interesting to see where this one will be headed, for sure.
The scenes where she has an audience with the King reminds me of Tanya the Evil brainstorming in front of her superior officers & accidentally making things so much worse for her.
2:41 😂😂😂 I am really loving this and Alicia is a fun FMC and I like the twist of her wanting to be the villianess unlike most that try to avoid it, but at the end of the day she is just a sweet girl trapped in a fantasy and not a generic evil character, I am really curious on what happens when the Heroine becomes more present in the story. Duke at the end of episode 2 🗿. Can't wait for the next episode.
I usually am not a big fan of villainous anime cuz it's all the same cut and dry stuff but thank you so much Brandon cuz this was definitely worth a look-see
I just love that she eagerly puts everybody in their place. Not afraid to be seen as the bad guy either. She is compassionate and does not do things for free. Sometimes you need to be a villain in someone else story to get things done. Take soldiers as an example. I just love that she did not make me cringe.
I watched the first episode last week and thought the series had potential and that feeling has only grown with episode 2. Alicia actually somewhat reminds me of Princess Mia from "Tearmoon Empire" a few seasons back. Both are motivated purely by selfishness (Mia to avoid a dark future, Alicia to embrace a dark future) and yet both have their motives be misinterpreted in some way. Definitely going to look forward to this one on Tuesdays.

thank you for making this video! after seeing you posted a video on it I went and watched both episodes and loved them. you're recommendations don't miss. I spent most of the watch time wondering how she defines "villainess". if her definition is "defiant aristocratic lady with Last Boss energy" she's well on the way to getting there. most other definitions she is nowhere close to... touchy subject (ableist school bullying): as far as saying "she rode the short bus", that feels very true. I also find it to be a high compliment to her character. as much as I expect people to think less of her after you mentioned that, it made me happy to hear. I've met a bunch of cool people who rode the "special" kids bus.
Thanks for the video! There is a thing about her "wanting to be a villainess" - it's not about doing petty things or to embody evil itself. It's more about "to be faithful to a certain archetype". Villainesses of this "sub-genre" are generally coming in two flavors - pitiful or respectable. If the first type is really the questionable ideal to strive for, you cannot say the same about the second one. The second type are usually intelligent, witty, prideful and haughty, but noble and hellbent to follow their ideals, so they often suffer mainly because they are "on the wrong side of the conflict of title". And this is the ideal Alicia is trying to embody; it's more about presentation and personality than "villainous actions".
This kinda reminds me of "I parry everything" in the sense that they just don't know what the word villainous is and just genuinely believe she's doing it well, and they are just getting by because of it.
I'm all for this series. Alicia marches to the beat of her own morals and doesn't take no for an answer. I imagine the king and prince see her as this brave, bold, and stubborn cinnamon roll.
She's a villain alright, you can see it in ep 2. She is going to butt heads with every noble in the country. To flip the script on an old saying, "One person's villain, is another person's hero," she is absolutely living up to that line right now. She straight up told the king twice already that his country is mid, and that while the nobility are really well off, many commoners are suffering. The blind guy in ep 2 is proof of that; he clearly told some noble something along those lines and lost his sight because of that. This is really starting to play out like: I'm gonna fix up the country and raise up everyone by being the voice of reason in the room and giving the finger to anyone who thinks otherwise. To every noble, she's basically going to be their worst nightmare because she has position, power, intelligence, and influence; especially with the crown prince doting over her already.
Without spoilers, there is ALOT more to "Grandpa" Will's story than that. With spoilers . . . . . . . Spoilers "Grandpa" Will (later "Uncle" Will) did not lose his eyes due to speaking poorly to a noble. He is the current king's older brother and lost his eyes after he lost his magic (the "friend" he was talking about was himself), with it his right to inherit the throne. His stepmother framed him for treason and had his eyes, which are where a nobles magic is stored torn out, and had him thrown into the impoverished village, which has a barrier around it which people with magic can pass through freely, but those without are trapped within/out. This is why Alicia can enter the village, but the villagers can't just leave for somewhere better. When this happened, there was an exodus of the next generation of talent who had supported the older brother to a neighbouring country. The king adored his older brother, just as Will adored his younger brother, but the king was led to believe his older brother was dead, which is why he is still in the impoverished village, even after the king's mother passed away. Alicia is wearing an eye patch in the opening because she gives one of her eyes to Will, so he can see again.

Just like Cid and his flashy background character techniques. Alicia and her flashy villainess speeches. I was looking forward for this show just by synopsis. Now in ep2, she’s is saying level 100 and stuff and she has dark magic, please let there be blackholes.
Having read the manga up to the latest chapter, I think you're going to enjoy the direction this series takes. I know I sure did. Otherwise, I'm calling it but that grey haired noble is going to be a pain in later episodes. (Haven't seen him reappear yet in the manga)
Yet another anime I have on my watchlist this season and it's my only Tuesday show. Alicia is the villainess that isn't and it's quite fun to watch. Her actions seem like it but in these two episodes, she's given the king some good advice; too bad she doesn't see it. A definite watch on a lackluster Tuesday when not much is worth watching.
I really loved the manga for this so I was happy to see it adapted for anime. I can't really think of any other animes with this kind of concept but there's definitely quite a few really decent mangas out there that do the "I want to be a villainess" idea. My personal favorite: "With One Day Left I'll Break All the Destruction Flags: "Serves You Right!" RTA 24 Hour Record" (yes that is the title) where she wakes up as the villainess with 24 hours to go until her punishment and has to straight up ruin everyone who is going to be involved before the deadline. It's fantastic (it's also really short so they could do the entire thing in one season.. I really want to see that one as an anime). Another great one is "An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess" which is a bit more similar to this show with the girl wanting to be a villainess but unintentionally being really nice and a little dumb (she straight up just tells the prince that they are in a game and everything she's trying to do to get him with the heroine and he's just endlessly amused by the whole thing)
I also didn't like the scene with the prince since Alicia is only 10 and the prince is at least 5 years older which is why I didn't find it romantic at all. But the rest was good
that my only issue so far. while mentally she closer to an adult am still not happy about the age difference. Particular since in the game she suppose to be a thorn for the hero at the academy. what with that huge age difference? I mean those guys should be out of school by the time both her and the heroine are freshman
There is a book series called “Empress” that is centered around the character dying and being reborn in a world where she decides to become the villain.
@@zam023 Yeah the Empress books really focus on the fact that the MC is indeed a villainess. She isn’t trying to keep herself from being killed and she isn’t stuck in the world on a oteme game. She is pure evil through and through.
2:40 I’d love that. Tbh that’s where I thought this anime was going at first. But I’m enjoying it. The whole “villainess/Ojou-Sama” trope in anime (from the shows I’ve seen at least) seems to be more an allegory for female independence and subversion of roles anyway. So I’m all for it. But yeah, if they ever come up with a likable and 100% evil female protagonist the anime will be a 10/10 in my book.
I just saw the first 2 episodes too. I think I can say this is gold. But I think we should talk a little bit about the legend of the Saint aka the Golden Rose. The prince is the Blue Rose. The heroine aka the Saint is the Golden Rose, and, as we saw in the OP, Alicia seems to be the Black Rose. Alicia has been saying about the in-game story, where the Prince was supposed to fall for the Heroine. But after episode 2, I think the Prince has fallen for Alicia. I think this is where reality has deviated from the game's story. We have to see how much it would deviate as the story progresses. I really like Alicia. In terms of character design, she reminds me a lot of our Level 99 Villainess, Yumiella, and they both have affinity for dark magic >_
Alicia: "Actually ☝️🤓 I'm a villainess and I'm gonna be the greatest villainess in history desu wa" So basically this is opposite of Lv 99? And I can't get used to hearing Dio voicing a good king, I feel like I stepped in the wrong timeline.
I actually decided to read this one and I was really surprised. I rrally don't know how to classify this show. It can be so silly but then out of nowhere it gets as violent as Eminence in Shadow, lol
After watching the premiere episode, I knew from the jump that we are dealing with a young girl that is completely clueless as to what or how a Villainess is or is suppose to interact or even behave. Yes she's intelligent, yes she is self-aware of her surroundings, and yes she is getting the jump on acquiring knowledge, power, and experience, but is acting more like a heroine than a villainess. OUTSTANDING!! What's more funnier is that she's probably is becoming more useful the fact that everyone else around her is make more use of her naivety and building upon it that she even realizes it, due to her impatience with her progress. I'll continue to watch it for the laughs, but also the curiosity on what will happen after reality sets into her brain and understand that being a villainess is not what she would picture it to be. Looking forward to that. Until then, Enjoy!!
I think she has a wrong idea about what a villainess is. She hasn't even done anything villainous yet. She only acts a bit bratty and arrogant sometimes and that's it
Alicia is trying so hard to became a Villainess, but I feel like she will a 2nd heroine instead 🤣 Her and Katarina does share some similarities 😂 I really like the scene with the King! But Duke giving her the medicine by mouth to mouth instead using the cup 🤣 I am definitely hooked on watching this show every Tuesday! I hope it will does well on TH-cam 🙏🏻
Idk what’s with these villainess type stories but they tend to real me in more often than not and usually by the first or second episode. To me this seems like the vibe for this story is somewhere between silly and serious with how she (the MC) wants to do the right thing but also aspires to be the number one baddie. I also find it kinda funny that there’s a number of older guys into this girl and nobody or hardly anyone has said anything about that. Kinda ironic but whatever. Think i’ll watch this one, it seems interesting and unique enough and by that I mean the main character is really entertaining.
Alicia is such a smart idiot😂 Like seriously she thinks that everything she says and does shows just how villainess and evil she is. When all it does is just show hard working and honest child she is most of the time. Especially as the most villainess thing she has done. Is expressing how she would rather have the kingdom by a meritocracy than a kingdom rule by nobility. I liked how those exercises she did in episode 1 as that reminds me a bit of the Satiama exercises and no wonder that she becomes OP because of those then lol. This might not be my favorite villainess show. But I do love the concept of a protagonist trying to be a villainess even if they suck at it lol
there are some previous villainess serries which i would highly reccomand if it gets a season 2 which unfortunatly isn't likely cause its a yuri and yuri rarely if ever get 2nd seasons so still reccomand the light novel of im in love with the villainess its only 5 volumes in total well 8 if you count the side stories
Give this one a chance. She will be the villainess. Just not in the way she intends. Or what one could define as a 'villain'. Just wait until the heroine appears.
I read this one as a manga, it is a pretty fun and engaging read. Sometimes you wonder whether other people have any cognitive function at all compare to the MC.
Since I'm here so early, I'll use this opportunity to ask if you're watching "Kabushikigaisha Magi-Lumière". It's an interesting take on the Mahou Shoujo genre, where being a magical girls is a full-time job (license required).
To be fair I feel all the good things she is doing are actually considered evil as of now by nobles I mean she already made one of the 5 great families mad at her for her ideas. I do like this unique take on a villian
You can't deny, Alicia has a very charming personality. You just wanna keep following her just to see how her shenaningans will turn out. *Also, yeah, I would've Falcon Punched the Prince for basically kissing an underage girl.* 😑 That's some red flag attitude that homeboy demonstrated, yet it sucks that the story is probably never gonna adress it like that.
This Anime gives me a lot of Level 99 Villainess Vibes, like, the art style was the same and the power settings are similar. Except for the lack of CGI Monsters at this point. Both Characters Yumiella and Alicia have a book smart intelligence but lack social scills to read the room. Yumiella is more aware and mature yet unexperienced with people. More than once I got the point she was behaving like the 36 years old woman she is in the body of a teenager. I would say Alicia is not that booksmart because she should get why her father forbids her a swords exam, craving all the knowledge and history of the world yet still doesn't get it that a 10 years old girl waving swords at master level could rise international affairs. But maybe Alicia died much younger and is probably mid 20 years old. The kiss at the end though. Yikes.
Honetly, I tried to watch the show and it is kind of idiotic; she doesn't have a real goal beyond "be the villainess" but her actions doesn't reflect it at all, one may arguee that it is because she is a kid and doesn't really understand what she wants, but she has the memories of her previous life so her mental age is at leats around 16; plus the fact that a bunch of pervs of 15+ years are trying to date a kid of 10 years is way to sick. I was intrested in this because it looks different, but at the end it is the same sh*t with another name.
The ending of episode two made me yell out, that's wrong. I really enjoyed the first episode but the end of the second episode made me feel grossed out by what the Prince did. My brain started yelling **Pedophile alert.** I know they have different sets of morals but that's wrong no matter how you see it. She's just a 10 year old child and he's definitely 15 or more. From now on, whenever I see the Prince, my brain is going to associate him with pedophiles. I hope you keep making these videos for TH-cam because some of us are poor and can't afford Patreon.

yeah tuesdays are light so it's a good show to fill the spot with
More please, I really like when you review the shows that are interesting, very similar taste.
meanwhile her brothers are like "hey um prince buddy...do you mind not hitting on my sister everytime you come for tea"
She wants to be a villainess but keeps doing good things. Interesting way to go about it.
You will rob heroes of good things by doing those good things yourself.
Villain gotta be smart!
I'm a sucker for villainess stuff, so I'm definitely here to stay this season.
I'll be honest, this is my favorite new series... and it isn't close.
Tearmoon Empire goes the opposite, from being a villain to being a Saint, because she wants to avoid getting her head chopped off again >_
@@zam023 Yeah the Empress books really focus on the fact that the MC is indeed a villainess. She isn’t trying to keep herself from being killed and she isn’t stuck in the world on a oteme game. She is pure evil through and through.
I really like this anime.
This show is actually really good. We are truly enjoying this series.
Alicia: "Actually ☝️🤓 I'm a villainess and I'm gonna be the greatest villainess in history desu wa"
So basically this is opposite of Lv 99? And I can't get used to hearing Dio voicing a good king, I feel like I stepped in the wrong timeline.
I actually decided to read this one and I was really surprised. I rrally don't know how to classify this show. It can be so silly but then out of nowhere it gets as violent as Eminence in Shadow, lol
After watching the premiere episode, I knew from the jump that we are dealing with a
young girl that is completely clueless as to what or how a Villainess is or is suppose to
interact or even behave.
Yes she's intelligent, yes she is self-aware of her surroundings, and yes she is getting
the jump on acquiring knowledge, power, and experience, but is acting more like a
heroine than a villainess.
OUTSTANDING!!
What's more funnier is that she's probably is becoming more useful the fact that everyone
else around her is make more use of her naivety and building upon it that she even realizes it,
due to her impatience with her progress.
I'll continue to watch it for the laughs, but also the curiosity on what will happen after reality sets
into her brain and understand that being a villainess is not what she would picture it to be.
Looking forward to that.
Until then,
Enjoy!!
This one reminds me of The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen series but in reverse.
I think she has a wrong idea about what a villainess is. She hasn't even done anything villainous yet. She only acts a bit bratty and arrogant sometimes and that's it
Alicia is trying so hard to became a Villainess, but I feel like she will a 2nd heroine instead 🤣
Her and Katarina does share some similarities 😂
I really like the scene with the King!
But Duke giving her the medicine by mouth to mouth instead using the cup 🤣
I am definitely hooked on watching this show every Tuesday!
Alicia is such a smart idiot😂
Like seriously she thinks that everything she says and does shows just how villainess and evil she is.
But I do love the concept of a protagonist trying to be a villainess even if they suck at it lol
i'm afraid the Prince is gonna claim she bewitched him.
I just loves villainess animes
i seem to like them every other season lmao
I’ve read the webnovel this show is based on and it only gets funnier and more ridiculous as she gets older. 😂
Duke, BRUH! SHE'S TEN!!!
started watching this one today, seems interesting
You should check Orb: On the movements of the Earth
Under the Radar, Dark Horse of the season.
I'm planning on it
This will be my thrash anime this season.
Her promary issues is that the heroine has ni self disapline she never had to work for anyting
I was actually curious if you’re watching this anime this season. Started reading the manga after the first episode, and I’m really enjoying it so far
there are some previous villainess serries which i would highly reccomand if it gets a season 2 which unfortunatly isn't likely cause its a yuri and yuri rarely if ever get 2nd seasons so still reccomand the light novel of im in love with the villainess its only 5 volumes in total well 8 if you count the side stories
Fine Brandon.... Ill watch the first 2 episodes now.
It’s an interesting watch so far
The kiss made me want to call the police! I will continue to watch though. 😭😭😭😭😭
I've read few 'villainess can't larp right' novels and this one looks slightly above average
I'm still on the fence with this. May drop it next week. A few other villianesses show seemed better after 2 episodes.
Give this one a chance.
She will be the villainess. Just not in the way she intends. Or what one could define as a 'villain'.
Just wait until the heroine appears.
ill watch it
Its a rather good series so far.
The most evil thing get the commoners on her side for the villainess revolution down with the noblity 😂
Haven't yet
Villeness animes are always great
To be fair I feel all the good things she is doing are actually considered evil as of now by nobles I mean she already made one of the 5 great families mad at her for her ideas.
I do like this unique take on a villian
The king loves her. She is progressive but to dumb rich people they think that's evil
I've been liking the show. Better than most of these kinds of shows. DESUWA.
Maybe you'll like HAIGAKURA
The manga is good. But that ending scene of episode 2 is so cringe.
What happened here
I think this anime is good but it is not for me
This one ain't doing it for me. She's not a villainess at all, way too good hearted.
that's every villainess anime
