The regular Chapter 2 and the Epilogue Chapter 2 are both my favorites. Chapter 2 was a perfect start for the game, it had the best camp, probably the most western style missions, the gang was still fully together, and the main town was Valentine, which is the best. Epilogue Chapter 2 is just the perfect ending to this game, i loved how the backstory of John's ranch unfolded and also loved Charles's and Sadie's appearance and presence in that chapter.
i really like your channel, you seem to understand & genuinely enjoy art & it's nice that you treat rdr2 as such. there aren't many people on here talking about rdr2 who really know their stuff like you do. keep it up!
Fun fact: in Red Dead Redemption 2. In these chapters and epilogues are many missions. How Long to Beat says that the main story will take 50 hours to complete, the main story and side quests will take 81 hours and that a completionist run will net you 181 hours of play time.
Completely agree with your ranking, chapter 4 has always been slept on in my opinion. I feel like chapter 2 is only really enjoyed for those final missions and because Arthur hasn’t got TB until that Thomas Downes mission. I’m all for loving Arthur, but I feel like it creates a shadow over chapters with stacked missions such as chapter 4 and 6.
@@xeinem2345 I think those are great too, the ride with him for example was a welcomed change of pace for me from all the shooting, and it was amazing to learn more about what is on Arthur’s mind. It helps to have a more calmer mission among all the chaos of chapter 6. I gues the one when you steal the medicine with Captain Monroe is not that entertaining, but it is important to the story.
@@OndrejBartos-qf8jq I like when there's a change of pace and that's why I loved the ranch work in the epilogue. I just don't like Rains Fall and i find his character boring. Also when he interrupts Arthur talking about his dead son to pick up some herbs was annoying to me
@@xeinem2345 Yeah I gotta agree the epilogue is amazing and his interruptions weren’t great :D I guess it’s also preference because Rains Fall is one of my favorites so I’m probably biased towards his missions.
One death that saddened me was the death of Arturo Bullard, I loved that guys humor, I wish we could loot him for something like that boiled egg in his pocket I really wanted to but I didn’t find nor see his body anywhere.
I'm gonna nitpick a little bit, but the screams outside Shady Belle isn't Kieran, it's just ambient sound effects, probably night folk victims. You can hear them before he dissappears, and after his death.
My personal retrospective/ranking: Chapter 1- The opening tutorial chapter. It’s mainly an introduction into the gang and basic controls, kept in a manageable location so players won’t be too overwhelmed. Standout mission: Who The Hell is Leviticus Cornwall? Chapter 2- This is when the world opens up. It’s still a tutorial, but it’s more advanced. Now that you know the members and dynamics of the gang a little better, the game introduces you to its typical routine. You’re also introduced to most of the other controls and mechanics of the open world. The chapter is very laid-back, everybody seems content, and it feels like the high point. A lot of players have talked about it feeling slow, but that’s something you’ll miss later on. Standout mission: There are quite a few, but my personal favorite is A Quiet Time. Chapter 3- The training wheels are off now. This chapter I think feels like the start of a turning point. The beginning of the chapter is chill like chapter 2 when you’re fishing with Dutch and Hosea and going to town with Sadie. By the end, though, the story takes a turn and things start to get worse for the gang, such as when Arthur is kidnapped by the O’Driscolls, Sean is killed, and Jack is also kidnapped. There’s also a turning point with the storytelling and gameplay too. The tutorialing is mostly over, and now each chapter going forward takes on its own specific narrative. The cracks in the gang are also beginning to form, with Molly and Dutch arguing more and John starting to care more about his family and question Dutch’s decisions. The gang’s decisions also seem to get more foolish in this chapter. Standout mission: Again, there are a ton, but my personal favorite is Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern. Chapter 4- The turning point that began in chapter 3 is expanded here, and this chapter feels like the beginning of the end of the gang. The gang still tries to hold itself together, like during the party for Jack and the riverboat robbery, but the cracks are getting bigger. There’s more arguing between the gang members, notably Dutch with Molly and Hosea, and what started as private comments to other gang members has now turned into open questioning by Arthur right to Dutch’s face. Dutch’s mental state is also showing obvious signs of deterioration. The gang’s luck has also taken a turn for the worse, such as Tilly’s kidnapping, Kieran’s death, the O’Driscoll raid, Bronte’s betrayal, and the disastrous bank robbery. Arthur’s health also starts to worsen, and his coughing becomes more noticeable. Throughout this whole chapter is a sense of foreboding. Standout mission: Banking, The Old American Art. Chapter 5- It’s downhill from here for the gang. It’s obvious during this chapter that nothing will be the same again. Most of the chapter takes place on Guarma and it’s focused on trying to get off the island. Dutch’s sanity continues to slip and his paranoia is more obvious, which Arthur is always quick to point out. Arthur’s health also takes a more drastic turn, and he gets his diagnosis at the end of the chapter. The mission Fleeting Joy is actually the perfect term for the whole chapter, because every little moment of happiness or calm is quickly interrupted by the storm, the soldiers, and the Pinkertons. The gang is now firmly on the decline. Standout mission: Fleeting Joy Chapter 6- The gang is doomed, and so is Arthur. The gang is now deteriorating rapidly, and so is Arthur’s health. It’s obvious in this chapter there’s no going back. Dutch’s sanity is gone and he’s openly betraying gang members, paranoid they’re doing the same to him. Micah is fanning the flames and worming his way in. Arthur’s questioning has now turned to outright dissent, such as saving John, kicking out Strauss, and encouraging members to leave. Lines have been drawn in the sand and the gang has split between those loyal to Dutch and those not. Some characters have completely turned themselves around, such as Arthur, John, Swanson, and Karen (her for the worse). The whole chapter is depressing and it’s one long ending with the deaths of Colm O’Driscoll, Cornwall, Agent Milton, and ultimately Arthur. Standout mission: Red Dead Redemption Epilogue Part 1: This feels reminiscent of chapter 1 but more hopeful in nature. John is settling down and turning a new leaf, and laying down the foundation for his future. He’s learning the skills necessary to become a rancher, and making plans to get a place of his own. The chapter is slow and laid-back, but it doesn’t feel like a calm before the storm. It’s just calm. Standout mission: Jim Milton Rides, Again? Epilogue part 2: The end of the line, and everything comes down to this. This chapter is the payoff for everything that’s happened, and it’s incredibly satisfying. John builds his ranch, his family returns, he finally gets revenge against Micah, and ends up rich with the Blackwater money. Standout mission: American Venom. Now after that essay, my ranking (from best to worst) Chapter 3 Chapter 2 Chapter 4 Chapter 6 Epilogue 2 Epilogue 1 Chapter 1 Chapter 5
I got an idea for a video. Making different outfits made by the subscribers. Think it could be a fun video. Great work man. Love watching your content. It really has made my month better because it's been hell.
Awesome video once again keep up the great work 👍. (Video idea: Go through the evolution of the different companies like Appleseed timber and central union rail road co. Also like buildings/bridges being built And how they change as the story progresses.)
I enjoy your videos, they're well thought out and entertaining. It would be cool to see you rank each state/area in this game, as well as the weapons and horses.
Chapter 3 is underrated, it is the last chapter where things seem to be going smoothly, has some really good and memorable missions, and Arthur being a lawman is fucking sick.
Talking of Chapter 1. I still think it would've been better if John got his scars from the Epilogue bear attack. Would've kept the mystery of his scars for the majority of the game. Every time Arthur and John leave camp, would THIS be the moment he gets his iconic look? Rather than it happen straight away.
I feel like Arthur and John’s reaction to Bronte’s death was a justified reaction. I don’t think they reacted that way because of the brutality, well ofc that was one reason, but I think the main reason was because, at the time, Dutch didn’t do that type of thing, he didn’t kill like that. It seems that Dutch didn’t have his “morals” anymore
Just about to pick up my first play through, I’m half way thru chapter 6 and this video was perfect but I didn’t watch it all bc spoilers but just for a recap My favourite chapter is chapter 6 so far, the redemption, the story arc, the side missions, but you get what you put into it. You need to be high honour etc
I had no idea there even was an epilogue until I was almost finished Arthurs story and it really made me sad everytime I played it just seeing how bad it went for the gang
Personally i dont love chapter 2 as much as most people. Not a very common opinion ik. And chapter 3 is my favorite chapter. Also an extremely unpopular opinion. Great video btw!
My favorite secondary chatacter is Rev. Swanson. Why would a robbery gang need a Preacher? Fish out of water. A preacher finding himself in a gang would tear at his soul, weak as it might have been. Hence, the heroin & booze, but with him seeing how he has fallen. He met Br. Dorkins in St. Denis, and introduced him to Arthur. Dorkins introduced Arthur to Sister, so we can assume Swanson met Sister, too. Sister would have turned Swanson's heart back to G-d, just as she turned Arthur's heart back to the Good. Swanson leaves the gang, to a church in NY. He found redemption, too.
My favourite chapters: 8. Chapter V, Guarma - it's Guarma. I mean why do we have 4% of it? 7. Chapter II, Valentine - I mean it feels vboring to me, it's still a fantastic thing in this game, but the intenseness and story of the later chapters buy me 6. Epilogue, Part II - of course, the last mission is absolutely astonishing, one of the best in the game, but apart from that and "A New Jerusalem" I don't remember any moments that felt fun to me 5. Epilogue, Part I - I played it the same night when I finished the main story. I was crying and then I saw Jim Milton get a job at Pronghorn etc, it was just so fitting 4. Chapter III, Rhodes - I like the blood feud and the postbellum South setting 3. Chapter I, Colter - sure it is a tutorial but it's hell of a tutorial 2. Chapter IV, Saint Denis - Henry said what has to be said 1. Chapter VI, Beaver Hollow - Wow. From the train robbing to the native Americans and hot air baloons, this chapter is got everything I need.
RD2 was the first video game I really ever played. I had just bought an Xbox and played a few here and there games, but this was the first game that really got the hook in me. Originally I was skeptical about getting a historically based game, as most historical based games get more wrong than they get right. I was pleasantly surprised with RD2, as they do get a ton of stuff right. I love that they picked era between the end of western expansion, and the Great War. The United States was starting to hit her stride as a nation, rebuilding herself after the rebellion of the slave states, burgeoning prominence after the SpanAm war, rampant greed of capitalism, and the militant pre 1919 extreme left. The game tackles a raft of various themes such as colonialism, sexism, racism, addiction, environmentalism, and left/right economics in a way that isn’t too preachy or too on the nose. They did all of this in an extremely fun to play game.
I think Guarma is goated because when I play rdr2 I dont want to spend time doing chores and basic things. Every single mission in guarma is a shootout and a fine one as well.
The rdr2 developers after all the blood sweat and tears of making Guarma detailed and beautiful only for rockstar to have you there for 3 minutes, and be the most forgettable part of the game : 👁️👄👁️
I honestly believe Guarma was mostly just there as a test run for Cuba in GTA 6. Otherwise Guarma was just a waste of assets which I really can't see Rockstar justifying the development time for.
When feeding him to the gator, I think it was horrifying because 1, just watching a man, an actual person, even if they were dead or a bad person, just get brutalized and purely disrespected like that, is a bit terrifying. Also, doesn't it take 15 minutes for your brain to fully die due to oxygen deprivation? If that's true at all, forgive me if it's not, Bronte would very much have been alive, just passed out and unable to breathe back in due to being underwater, which makes him as good as dead but not... fully, actually, absolutely dead for just a few minutes(even if he were pulled back up, I'm sure he'd have some brain damage), leaving him still alive when the gator got him.
After now doing 7-8 play throughs. My worst to best chapters are. #8 Epilogue Part 1, #7 Chapter 5:Guarma, #6 Chapter 1, #5 Epilogue Part 2, #4 Chapter 6, #3 Chapter 2, #2 Chapter 3, and really it’s a tie for first but #1 Chapter 4
On the point of “who cares if Bronte got fed to an alligator”, the Van Der Linde gang had done equally awful things as Bronte. It’s an act of hypocrisy because the gang are killers, Bronte is a killer, but our gang takes a lot of pride in giving the members proper burials. Sadie says they robbed Hosea and Lenny’s bodies to give them a good rest. Bronte has people that care for him the same, hence the shootout in San Denis in the epilogue. Dutch could’ve just drowned him and dumped his body somewhere for his men to find so they could bury him proper. So Arthur and John’s reaction is justified in that they wouldn’t want a member of the gang, let alone themselves, be fed to a gator upon death
I enjoy your seemingly unscripted delivery tho, it’s nice to have a video be one’s natural thoughts compared to harrowing months of making sure every detail of what they say is correct. Enjoyable video for sure
I use the voice thing because most of the time I’m playing red dead redemption one and I’m too focused to type in a comment and I did a southern voice so that he is actually supposed to be you
@@mackenzieblair8135 again I know, what I said in the video is that the turn of the century era of the Italian mafia is one not explored often. Gangs of New York isn’t about the mafia nor is it set during the gilded age that’s all I’m sayin. Gangs of New York is awesome but too early
Why did you rank Chapter 2 over Chapter 3? I feel like especially on a replay Chapter 2 is kind of a sludge to get through which is maybe on purpose so you get yourself used to the exploration but still it's a lot less interesting than Chapter 3 imo.
Babe wake up Henry Films posted another high quality video

the brown fringed shotgun chaps. I think you can only purchase chaps in general stores during the epilogue unfortunately, but I could be wrong.

I use the voice thing because most of the time I’m playing red dead redemption one and I’m too focused to type in a comment and I did a southern voice so that he is actually supposed to be you
Song name?
Gangs of New York is a movie about 19th century gangs.
It’s not about the mafia and it’s set during the 1860s which would be during the Wild West
@@filmsbyhen it takes place in a very industrialized New York City. The 1860s weren’t the Stone Age.
@@mackenzieblair8135 again I know, what I said in the video is that the turn of the century era of the Italian mafia is one not explored often. Gangs of New York isn’t about the mafia nor is it set during the gilded age that’s all I’m sayin. Gangs of New York is awesome but too early
Chapter 4 and Chapter 2 are the best chapters. I’m gonna try not change my mind because I am a very inconsistent and slightly mangled brained person.
Why did you rank Chapter 2 over Chapter 3? I feel like especially on a replay Chapter 2 is kind of a sludge to get through which is maybe on purpose so you get yourself used to the exploration but still it's a lot less interesting than Chapter 3 imo.
Hundredth like !!!
Jack was the rat.
No mention of any spoiler alerts.
Bro this is literally a video recapping the story why would you watch this if you care about spoilers
@@filmsbyhen No worries! I gave you a thumb up regardless :)
On my replays, i start at chp 2
Guarma should've been a DLC.
This is probably my most viewed TH-cam video I've seen it like 20 times
damn what is so interesting about this video
@@Wertyber I don't really know
Chapter two is best because of Mickey
First comment
Micah couldn't of been the R
Ain't no way chapter 3 is worse than any part of the epilogue. Gotta disagree on that one.
Not worse. Just not as much my favorite
