Yeah hopefully gta 6 will be just as good as rdr2 and detailed as rdr2 and the story will be just as good but it’s sooo hard too rdr2 it’s a complete masterpiece through and through #1 game of all time in my book and hopefully rdr3 will be just as good I want a younger arurther and Dutch and Hosea and how the gang came together for rdr3 more Wild West like in the middle of Wild West not the end of it
I'm 38 and can say that I feel basically the same, just nearly. The previous Red Dead Redemption made me feel similarly, but after playing this one it truly pales in comparison, but only for natural and obvious reasons. Playing Baldur's Gate 1 and Fallout 1 when I was 12 years old were my moments of recognizing artistic genius for the first time at an elevated level, and I've revisited those games numerous times over the years awaiting anything that could even remotely compare. A few have come around, but Red Dead 2 is the greatest game ever made and that is a conclusion I've come to over and over again, multiple times. It just excels in nearly every major regard that matters, but especially the open world and the way it is designed to give an impression of absolute frontier style freedom that over time is revealed to be an ever-diminishing quality. Roaming around a staggeringly realistic realization of a period none of us are old enough to even vaguely recall is an opportunity hitherto unknown, not to the extent this game offers. The constant bombardment of gorgeous cinematography, remarkable music, ingeniously established characters and their highs and low delivered through a novelesque narrative the player gets to determine much of the pace of coupled with the design of the world and its environs sets this game apart with no equals. Games like Stalker, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Morrowind, Baldur's Gate 2, the original Fallout or New Vegas, Cyberpunk 2077, are all games that I thoroughly enjoy playing and marvel at the artistic mastery involved in their creations. But only with Red Dead 2 and specifically as Arthur do I feel like I'm "living" another life, in another time. I'm not even very fond of Rockstar overall and I include the earlier periods when the minds ultimately responsible for this game were involved at the company in my opinion on it; Grand Theft Auto only ever appealed to me as spontaneous outbursts of senseless violence because I could never find myself caring enough about anybody or anything whatsoever to do with those games, and I've played them all starting with the original as a teenager. The last one I actually finished was San Andreas, and I could only stomach about half of the story of the last one before I gave up, despite several attempts at retrying. There whole gameplay design and creative philosophy just doesn't appeal to me very much, where even games like The Warriors and LA Noire I ultimately lost my enthusiasm early on for. And as wonderous as Red Dead Redemption is narratively, with one of the most memorable and gorgeous open worlds ever presented, the gamified nature of how you interact with everything does major harm in retrospect. Only with Red Dead 2 did they truly and absolutely deliver a genuine masterpiece from top to bottom, a landmark event in art history that will likely continue to reverberate for decades if not more, the way people today revere cinema or novels that defined not only a generation but altered the expectations people in general had on their respective mediums from then on. Despite being 5 years out now, I feel like we are on the whole still in something of an afterglow of sorts with this game, as nothing has approached it since but not enough time has gone by for the full impact of it to have been felt and established broadly. I revisit the game at least once per year after playing it the day it first came out on console; my last handful of play-throughs being on PC and occasionally on Steam Deck. It isn't even so much Arthur or John, or the fantastic narrative, or the points of interest that bring me back at this point, it is the sensation when reloading a game somewhere in Chapter 2 or 3 after not playing for a while and being immediately drowned in the overwhelming sounds of swirling cicada and bird song mingled with the movement of leather and buckles as my horse adjusts or swats at flies with its tail, a train rolling past out across the vast open Heartlands in the early morning hours, the distant snow capped and evergreen covered Grizzlies swimming in the shimmering haze of heat mirage distorting the entire horizon. The slow deliberateness to every movement Arthur makes, and the exceeding amount of visual and audible details surrounding you that seamlessly change with the territory, etc it is a profound triumph of human creativity the likes of which will almost certainly never be seen again, not in this form. The game is a once in a lifetime phenomenon, one that looking on from a distance in time seems almost impossible to believe could even have happened.
Generational game/story , I’ll always come back to this game once a year. Beaten it 9 times and 100% it twice. Still never get tired of it. Truly a masterpiece of a game.
I haven’t done the 100% yet but finished 3 times, 2 on high honor, one on low. I’m wondering if there is a way to beat it on a “true neutral” play through.
This game is one of the greatest stories of our generation, I hope it stands the test of time as a story and perhaps even gets written into a novel if it has not been already.
@@frizzyrascal1493 The atmosphere of blood meridion is nothing like rdr2 besides cowboys with gun. Blood meridion is actually closer in terms of atmosphere with rd1.
@@frizzyrascal1493 I HATE BM, I agree with the critique that it is simply lazy pretending to be shocking and subversive. It technically is those last two things, but that doesn’t stop it from being LAZY. “What if we just r8p the good guy and then end the book, because hey, that’s life!” Yeah ok no thanks.
This game is not just a video game; it's a life lesson, in acceptance, integrity, in facing your own mortality and how you deal with it affects others around you. It implores you to experience the good man in a cruel world, or being a cruel man who follows the flow of the world around him. You can both play as BAD or GOOD man Arthur, and experience the consequences of your actions the way not all of us could have explored in real life. The world changes depend on your approach to it, as we all saw in our playthroughs.
the problem is that even in my 2nd playthrough i feel bad whenever i kill someone o take a villain approach... as a kid i used to have fun with it, now whenever i kill someone who witnessed something or whatever, i restart the checkpoint .... Im 33 years old but i wish i could just enjoy the game like the 1st time i played State of Emergency... This feeling will never come back, some experienced it with GTA3, some of us with Vice city and San Andreas. It was State of Emergency for me, after that the naughty boy inside of me grew up and cannot take the villain spectre anymore due to IMMERSION
I bought RDR2 on Steam several years ago and it's just been sitting there in my Steam library. I finally started playing it last night. I'm taking it super slow and letting myself get immersed. It's definitely an extremely immersive game. Even activities as mundane as slowly walking around the Colter camp and making small talk with all the other gang members, and then spending a little bit of time with my horse; then sitting down in front of a fire, opening my satchel, and going through my inventory of stuff; etc. Even if you're doing things that are completely 'boring', it still sucks you in and makes you feel so invested in the experience.
If you think stuff is immersive now, wait until Chapter 2. IMO it's when stuff really starts out, and is the best chapter of the game in the sense that everyone is happy and healthy. There's a lot more freedom with hunting, going to town, and the like. Have fun
When I returned to play the game for the second time - I took it incredibly slow - like a person having a near death experience and then returning to his everyday life with a new found appreciation for the little things, the small things, the extraordinary things that are all around us - keep it up and take it slow 😇
@@Maximus-z2tthe whole game is, but chapter 2 is like the first time you experience the freedom so in a way, it feels the most free if that makes sense!
As someone whose health deteriorated due to illness, seeing Arthur come to terms with his impending death hit a lil too close to home but, it was something I resonated with. Likely, without the modern science of medicine I'd have died ages ago. That sense of reality that comes from staring death in the face was represented well in the scenes where Arthur is diagnosed with TB.
That’s such a visceral reason to connect to a game. I always wondered why I loved the last of us so much, but as someone who never had a decent father figure I can see why I attached to Joel so much. I wish you the best of health friend. I recommend playing death stranding. If I was given a timeframe to live, that is one game I’d play in that time
Saw a comment under a RDR 2 essay video with the person saying they wished they had amnesia to experience the game all over again. i somewhat think they're not alone in that feeling...
Finished GoW and never touched it twice. RDR2 just keeps surprising me more and more. The reason GoW won was because RDR2 had just launched by the end of the year.
GOW2018 was great, But RDR2 really Set new bars for Third person open world immersion, Level of detail in an open world, NPC interaction and reaction, Horse riding?gameplay in an open world and its also a really well Rounded open world having activites, unique world encounters and unique side missions and many unique mystries to find in the world. while alot games only have 1 or 2 of these things RDR2 has all 3 and when combined this aspects with the level of NPC interaction and reaction, level of detail with NPCs and wildlife having daily routines it creates one of the best open worlds to date.
@@thefallenvalley4340 dude fr. after you finish the game and do the side missions and start to explore it’s even better. the game is so detailed and has so many hidden details and stuff. it’s neat.
@@thefallenvalley4340 Agree with you in that but there's one more thing, RDR2 does drag a bit because of chapter 5, in that regard GOW flows better, however in terms of the game itself, RDR2 has much more to offer than GOW and should've got GOTY that year
rdr2 is the greatest game of all time. the greatest story of all time, wether fiction or not rdr2 is better. the best story i have ever experienced. the greatest characters, graphics, voice actors, map, gamplay, and realism i have ever experienced.
What I love about RDR2 is that it feels like if an indie studio got the budget for a AAA game. It's authentic and introspective like indie games but also has impeccable graphics and exciting action like a AAA game. Perfectly balanced, as all games should be
You're 100% on point about the solitude moments in RDR II; those are easily one of my favorite parts in the game. Sometimes when I had a bad day or maybe something's happening in my personal life, I like to boot RDR II and just explore the world, go to town, make groceries and all these immersive activities while I think about myself, my day, my choices and plans for the future; I love it
I EASILLY sunk 100 hours in my first playthrough. Once i realized that side missions actually held purpose, i could not get enough of them. Not to mention the story, my god. I wish I could do it all again.
I was late to the party with RDR1, didnt play it until i was unemployed for a spell in 2018 aged 28. Later that year RDR2 was released. I bought it on release but didnt even get out of the prologue as i couldnt commit time to such a large game. For 2 years it languished on my shelf until 2020... when... i had a LOT more free time. Went from start to 90% completion and finishing the story mode within 2 weeks. I was pretty much sleeping, working or playing RDR2. Amazing game. Im 34, this was only 3.5 years ago but i feel like i have actual nostalgia for it already. My Arthur would wear red, had a bowler hat and a handlebar stash, so everyone elses cut scenes look wrong lol
11:55 I love the nod back to RDR1 here and the foreshadowing. The agents confronting Arthur and particularly Jack whilst they’re fishing here. Then in RDR1 a much older Jack confronts the agent when he’s fishing.
I remember starting playing it in the winter holidays when snow was falling outside. And that how the game started. I was in awe from that moment to this day. Rockstar so beautifully handled diverse characters in every way in that era which it is set in, woven into the the story that no other can even touch.
RDR2 was Rockstar’s BEST WORK. I don’t know if they’ll ever be able to top this game. The story, characters and all of the details are what made this game so special. All of the choices we were given ended with some type of consequence that affect the story and dialogue. They put so much into Arthur Morgan, as complex as he was he grew on the players and we ended up loving his character.
i think it’s the best game made ever tbh. it’s so detailed and has so many hidden details and missions even after you finish the main story. it’s impeccable
@@WhosBAKAI agree. Greatest game ever made. The fully alive world is just on another level and never ceases to amaze me. It fully engrosses you even after you finish the main story
I remember descending the mountain during the Mountain Hymn part of the prologue and thinking to myself "This game is going to hit differently and I need to take my time with it." I got so used to Los Santos from GtaV that eventually I just turned off the map and got from place to place by memory and I decided that I would explore this new world completely blind. It all culminated in my ride back to Shady Belle after Guarma and I was able to get myself back home after dozens of hours just riding around and exploring the world. The sheer immersion and connection I felt to the game was such a unique experience for me
The most impactful game I have ever played. Most games are just enjoyable, but to be impacted by a game in so many ways, is truly remarkable. I’ll never forget this game.
i like the small micromanaging things in the game similar to what MGSV did things like trotting in towns and cities, cleaning your guns to keep them effective, hitting RT/L2 again to cock back the hammer of your gun after shooting etc it's not for everyone but i just find that stuff cool
I had avoided RDR 2 back when in launched. Like a lot of ppl I was intimidated with its challenging and hard mechanics, long storyline also the fact that this was the most spec demanding game back then. Years passed by and I started seeing videos on YT and decided to finally play it in 2023 november. I literally took a day off cause I couldnt close the game, it was so interesting (even the long rides. Every character is memorable and fleshed out. Rockstar really outdid themselves with this one. In the end all I could say is that the ending with the sunrise with "Crash of worlds" playing in the background was the most powerful scene in all of gaming history. I literally cried like lost someone fr.
This was one of my first completed games entering the gaming world and everything else pales in comparison emotionally. I'm on maybe my 10th playthrough now and entering chapter 6 already has me dreading my tears that will ultimately ensue. It's so beautifully tragic and striking. I want to do everything I can to keep Arthur alive in game. I live vicariously through him and connect my real life experiences to his. It's not just a game to me, but a life lesson, and almost reliving a past experience I'm nostalgic of as if I once lived back in 1899.
Great video. You used engaging clips in the right moments and the music is effective without being overbearing. I particularly enjoyed the discussions of Micah, Sadie and the immersive elements of the game like camp conversations and optional encounters. GTA 4 video next? There's always Half Life as well ; )
I haven’t finished the video yet but I wanted to say something. First off, amazing video. It’s very well put together and very interesting. Second, if you haven’t took the time to read Arthur’s journal, you’re missing out. It helps you connect further with Arthur as a character and gain insights on to what he thinks about things. It made it have a bigger impact on me whenever his story came to an end. Take the time to read the journal right before Arthur’s last mission.
People who don't play nor like Red Dead 1 and 2 exclusively play fortnite, concord, dustborn. And watch only shows with laughtracks like the big bang theory and think that neil degrasse tyson is a super genius. And people who don't like John nor the Epilogue, are those rdr2 fans who never played the first one. They don't know how important John, Abigail and Jack are to the mythos of the Red Dead world ❤
Turn off everything in the hud. No minimap no auto Aim. No subtitle. The sun rises in the east, watch for road signs. And with no minimap npcs talk more. Are more descriptive. Really becomes immersion.
If you ride along the Dakota River on a sunny day, you can feel the nature and the beauty of a free life. That's the feeling I never had in a game. And I played games since the very first game in black and white to push a dot from left to right
The actor for Micah seems like a down to earth guy, they all do but something about the way he speaks on his experience playing the game sticks with me.
this is some of the best and most introspective and well thought out content i’ve ever seen. all of your videos have great ideas and explanations that are very accurate and reflective. This is definitely the video that represents your amazing content!
I just started playing again and I am on chapter 2 just free roaming anf exploring. I don't even want to progress. I just did the 6 gold bar treasure hunt.
For many media, (TV and such) there are some movies that defy the genre norms, but in such a way that it almost makes it seem like a masterpiece. Examples would be Breaking Bad for television, The Dark Knight for superhero movies, The Truman Show for Jim Carrey movies, Prisoner of Azkaban for Fantasy, and you can throw in Game Of Thrones books in there too for literature. For Video Games, I believe RDR2 to fit in the pantheon of media that is different: that takes the tropes we are used to, and flips them on their head, and a story that conveys some complex messages, even if put on TV. The themes of changing times fits so well: and the fact that everything, down to the map getting more civilized the more East you go, to even the gun selection, with the Schofields, Henry leverguns, Springfield trapdoors, and Single Action armies, guns associated with the western outlaw, being seen aside Browning Auto 5s, Krag Jorgensens, Carcano Rifles, and the two German Semi auto handguns, weapons associated with the early 20th century outlaw. Its all very nice
Played through it twice. I still play it just to admire the scenery. As a life long fan of westerns, I never imagined something like RDR2 would ever exist.
Just came across your channel this morning and I’m mind boggled at the fact you don’t have more subscribers. Great video, Btw. You gained a New subscriber. Keep up the good work 👍🏾
I think one of the BEST things Rockstar did with this character is give him a journal for us to read. Because we may have our own thoughts on how things transpired but so does Arthur and it makes you look at events differently
A true masterpiece. I've played through the story so many times, and I just keep finding more things to do. It's sad that there are people who still haven't played it, simply because the console versions are locked to 30fps. Honestly, I think 60fps takes away from the game's movie-like qualities. I tried it on PC and while yes, it's smoother at 60fps, it feels more "like a game", rather than an immersive experience.
I want to tell you why this video is one of the best I've seen, and justifies TH-cam as *THE* video essay platform in the best possible ways. Over the past month or so I've been pretty sick. One of the few ways I've found solace is by indulging my love for video games, and in the end as I filtered through my console libraries it just came down to playing _Red Dead Redemption II_ as a lot of others pale in comparison, good as they might be. The world got me hooked. When I clicked ▶ on this, I figured I already knew why any gamer should play RDR2, why it's great. Boy was I wrong! It turns out this video showed me a lot of the subtleties I'd missed, great moments of story and characterisation that tied the many arcs that run through it together. It also reminded me of how much I like Arthur and more than that why, how much the moments of emotional resonance (especially the Arthur and Sadie stuff) really ring out in a way most fiction - not just games, all fiction - cannot manage. Even more that that, it reminds us that when video games work it's because they combine several forms of art together seamlessly to make something deeply affecting - writing, acting, musicianship, artistry, technical excellence (in programming, sound design etc) and so on. I've added hundreds of hours to my saves on PS5 and Series X (they're at different points in the story - one is early in Chapter 2, the other Chapter 6 before the epilogue) and this might actually be something I can show to my girlfriend, whom things are strained with right now, so she can understand *why* this masterpiece, which required hundreds of thousands of people hours and some serious dollars too, has captivated me in ways it didn't when I first bought it on disc for PS4 in 2018. It hits this time around like it didn't originally then, and this video reminded me why, but beyond that taught me other ways of why I hadn't even considered. RDR2 might not have grossed the stupid amount of money GTA V has managed, however I consider it the greater achievement that built on and improved it's predecessor immeasurably, and Rockstar will struggle to top it even with GTA VI, a game I think gets to exist in a franchise that has been played out for over a decade, I'm sure. Long story short, this fine video deserves a *lotttt* more than 36K views it currently has - I think it should be in the millions. The writing is superb, the narration passionate and clear without distracting from the visuals, the editing is decent; all in all it is a very professional piece of work that the original content creator should be proud of. I believe it should be the go to video gamers share when they can't articulate why they love video games so much, so in a way it's the RDR2 of gaming related video essays. Even the main critique - the overly linear missions, one of the few things about the game I don't like as it clashes so extremely with the very free open world - was deftly handled and makes a nice counterpoint to "Rockstar's Game Design is Outdated" by NakeyJakey, something I'd recommend everyone watch after this if they haven't already. Thank you, Vicious TNT. Your work affected me in a lot of ways, and I appreciate that. New subscriber 👍🏻
Great video buddy I am actually just starting the script on my own Red Dead redemption 2 I've been replaying it again I just can't get enough this game truly is one of the best open worlds so many in-depth systems everything is so engaging
Thanks again!) Seems, like i've already watched all your RDR2 series in the last couple days. Great way to go through those feelings that got me after the end of Chatper 6. Please, keep doing watch you doing! I'm open to listen you reflections not only on RDR2, but everything you're willing to go. You seem like a nice fella and there's a lot of depth and wisdom in your essays. I love to have such a company while i'm building my Lego)
I just started playing it a couple of weeks ago. I have been taking my time with it, it is just purely amazing. I have always called Rockstar the GOAT, but this game solidifies it.
As soon as I bought rdr2 I immediately went online mode, so here I am playing online for years with friends, but currently this is my first time playing the story mode.... This story mode is fun at times, yet sad at times... Online mode with friends made me never cry... Story mode did.
Rdr2 is the only game that is worth every penny for the deluxe edition I was truly blown away being newer to read dead in a whole( only playing undead nightmare at friends house.) dan houser is a goddamn G and i really hate how everything panned out but he made my child hood with gta 4&5 on the 360 and then playing rdr2 was insane.
Rdr2 is a cultural work. It is for America what the Witcher 3 was for Poland, something that transcends gaming and actually serves as a work of cultural art.
It’s mad how this game gets you. Never been more invested in a character than Arthur. Whoever came up with that deserves a medal. What a game. GTA6 or RDR3. I’d take RD everyday. X
17:40 id like to mention that in my first playthrough. I went back for the money, due to knowing John was strong enough to look after himself and if Arthur could get John and his family that money. He’d be doing them a massive favour
I will never forget my first play though of RDR2. I must have spent 300 hours just looking at everything and exploring every inch of that map and the world. The only game that ever came that close to blowing my mind like that was Witcher 3. If a list was made of the 3 greatest games ever made, RDR2 and Witcher 3 are 100% on that list with Skyrim, GtA5, FO-NV, and Dishonored competing for the #3 slot.
I can't wait to play this game again but i'm waiting for an official VR Port. There was a mod and rockstar removed it immediately which tells me they see some world where they release a VR version of this game. I played the mod briefly and let me say.... it was absolutely stunning seeing this world at scale like that. It truly feels like all the time and effort they put into every little detail was seen like never before. I was walking into rooms slowly and noticing every rip on the wallpaper, every trim on every window, every dust particle....truly insane potential. Here's to hoping it comes true
I consider RD2 the Mona Lisa of games . That the only way I can look at it . Nothing is perfect is this world . But this has been the closest thing to perfect game I have ever played in my 43 years of life . The controls had me put off at first but then I realized it’s kinda like real life .. and movement really matters . I had no issues after that . For a year and a half I been trying to find something to play that’s close . I just haven’t found anything .😅
Growing up on the PS1 and PS2 i had never experienced a game that could defeat my nostalgia and RDR2 did that. This has to be top3 best games of all time for me. Growing up to me there could be no games better than the uncharted games, the warriors, bully, GTA San Andreas, def jam, crash bandicoot games, tekken games, mortal combat etc. RDR brought me back to gaming as an adult during the pandemic. I had played RDR1 when i was in high school but its not as replayable as RDR2.
A little over halfway in, and couldn't wait to say that I'm extremely impressed (of course I'm a little bias towards the subject matter lol) Well put together with high quality editing and sound made me have do a double take in seeing that this channel is at 3.4 thousand subs not 3.4 million! Regardless, with quality like this it won't be long till up in the millions... 🤠🍻 +1 subscriber
This might seem funny but, I played this game once for more than 12 hours straight and I never had experienced something like this. I wanted to play this game more not to complete it but to experience it, unfortunately the laptop I was playing on was someone else's and he had to go the next day. So, this game is the reason I am working hard right now to save some money to buy a compatible setup to play this game in near future.
Play RDR2 a second time? I’ve been playing it since a month after its release. Probably 15-20 play throughs. Still finding new things. Spending time in camp, after missions is extremely revealing. The game blossoms with every play through. Amazing. I’m playing right mow. Just got the legendary elk… massive beautiful virgin white pelt and legendary horn. Epic.
My first playthrough of RDR2, I was afraid to kill anyone because I felt like they would actually be gone. As opposed to GTA V where nobody matters and quest characters are never seen in the open world
This is one of those games that make me wanna wipe my memory so I can experience it for the first time again. Sad that it's been 5 years and nothing's even come close to top it. Anyway, excellent video, as always! 🥰

100%
I haven’t done the 100% yet but finished 3 times, 2 on high honor, one on low. I’m wondering if there is a way to beat it on a “true neutral” play through.
@@AdryanBlantzI beat it on neutral and it gave me the high honor cutscenes
Best in the west achievement: 100%
Legend of the west: all achievements
I’ve never got the legend of the west…yet
This game is one of the greatest stories of our generation, I hope it stands the test of time as a story and perhaps even gets written into a novel if it has not been already.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. Try that if you like the tone of RDR2.
@@frizzyrascal1493 The atmosphere of blood meridion is nothing like rdr2 besides cowboys with gun. Blood meridion is actually closer in terms of atmosphere with rd1.
The story is the weakest part of the game what are you yapping about
@@frizzyrascal1493 I HATE BM, I agree with the critique that it is simply lazy pretending to be shocking and subversive.
Well put
You... Implore me?
the problem is that even in my 2nd playthrough i feel bad whenever i kill someone o take a villain approach... as a kid i used to have fun with it, now whenever i kill someone who witnessed something or whatever, i restart the checkpoint ....
Im 33 years old but i wish i could just enjoy the game like the 1st time i played State of Emergency...
This feeling will never come back, some experienced it with GTA3, some of us with Vice city and San Andreas. It was State of Emergency for me, after that the naughty boy inside of me grew up and cannot take the villain spectre anymore due to
IMMERSION
Ive just recently completed it, so glad i did ❤ gl
@@cherry.cider.s0daso chapter 2 is the only chapter you have freedom to come and go and explore as you please?
@@Maximus-z2tthe whole game is, but chapter 2 is like the first time you experience the freedom so in a way, it feels the most free if that makes sense!
i just finished Arthur's story yesterday and after holding off on buying this game for so long i feel like i've been missing out 10/10 game⭐️
Thank you. I love this game more than any other game I have ever played. My heart aches for Arthur, and I grieve his loss even to this day.
I'm glad you enjoyed it ❤️
this is by far the best game of all time
Chill bro its a fictional character
As someone whose health deteriorated due to illness, seeing Arthur come to terms with his impending death hit a lil too close to home but, it was something I resonated with. Likely, without the modern science of medicine I'd have died ages ago. That sense of reality that comes from staring death in the face was represented well in the scenes where Arthur is diagnosed with TB.
I hope you are better
That’s such a visceral reason to connect to a game. I always wondered why I loved the last of us so much, but as someone who never had a decent father figure I can see why I attached to Joel so much. I wish you the best of health friend. I recommend playing death stranding. If I was given a timeframe to live, that is one game I’d play in that time
My friend, this video is a masterpiece.
Arthur Morgan is up there with my favorite character of all time, The Arbiter.
Thank you 😊 Arbiter brings back memories
Saw a comment under a RDR 2 essay video with the person saying they wished they had amnesia to experience the game all over again. i somewhat think they're not alone in that feeling...
Nothing beats the first playthrough :)
God of War beating this for goty is an absolute joke
Completely different games but both masterpieces in their own genre.
RDR2 and BG3 for me peronally are the best games of the last generation.
A joke? Lol get real. They are both great games. You're acting like a game like among us beat rdr2. Gay
Fr
God of War is better than RDR2 in every single way possible. It won GOTY for good reason.
@ThwipThwipBoom I completely disagree. I respect your opinion though.
I still have mixed feelings about GOW 2018 winning GOTY, both are phenomenal games but I think RDR2 is more deserving
@@thefallenvalley4340 dude fr. after you finish the game and do the side missions and start to explore it’s even better. the game is so detailed and has so many hidden details and stuff. it’s neat.
@@thefallenvalley4340 Agree with you in that but there's one more thing, RDR2 does drag a bit because of chapter 5, in that regard GOW flows better, however in terms of the game itself, RDR2 has much more to offer than GOW and should've got GOTY that year
6 years later and still discovering new experiences and getting full enjoyment out of wandering around the world of this game
rdr2 is the greatest game of all time. the greatest story of all time, wether fiction or not rdr2 is better. the best story i have ever experienced. the greatest characters, graphics, voice actors, map, gamplay, and realism i have ever experienced.
Sometimes when I had a bad day or maybe something's happening in my personal life, I like to boot RDR II and just explore the world, go to town, make groceries and all these immersive activities while I think about myself, my day, my choices and plans for the future; I love it
100%, it really let's you dissappear for a while
I EASILLY sunk 100 hours in my first playthrough. Once i realized that side missions actually held purpose, i could not get enough of them. Not to mention the story, my god. I wish I could do it all again.
you can!
One of the few games I can just sit and watch all the cutscenes back to back
Pretty long movie when put all together 😄
Yeah, the first playthrough tends to eliminate everything besides bare necessities for a while 😄 I had a very similar experience
I started replaying RDR2 a few weeks back, I’m in Saint Denis now and man the game is just as masterful as it was in 2018 when I first played. 10/10

Where are you now? Done ?

I love the nod back to RDR1 here and the foreshadowing.
"I guess I'm afraid" is the most moving moment of the whole game 🥺
💯
Played through this game again… can confirm, I cried again RIP Arthur Morgan 😢
RDR2 was Rockstar’s BEST WORK. I don’t know if they’ll ever be able to top this game. The story, characters and all of the details are what made this game so special. All of the choices we were given ended with some type of consequence that affect the story and dialogue. They put so much into Arthur Morgan, as complex as he was he grew on the players and we ended up loving his character.
Well said 🙌
i think it’s the best game made ever tbh. it’s so detailed and has so many hidden details and missions even after you finish the main story. it’s impeccable
@@WhosBAKAI agree. Greatest game ever made. The fully alive world is just on another level and never ceases to amaze me. It fully engrosses you even after you finish the main story
I’m on my fifth run and this game doesn’t get old. Lots of stuff and secrets to discover every play through. My fave game of all time.
It's one of the best ones to just dissappear in
Hands down one of the Greatest open world games and one of best story games of all time.
Makes you feel you are actually Arthur Morgan. More than just a character.
I remember descending the mountain during the Mountain Hymn part of the prologue and thinking to myself "This game is going to hit differently and I need to take my time with it."
I got so used to Los Santos from GtaV that eventually I just turned off the map and got from place to place by memory and I decided that I would explore this new world completely blind.
It all culminated in my ride back to Shady Belle after Guarma and I was able to get myself back home after dozens of hours just riding around and exploring the world. The sheer immersion and connection I felt to the game was such a unique experience for me
Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like a great journey 😊
@ViciousTNT It absolutely was and remains today completely unparalleled. Great vid btw
Thank you 😊
The most impactful game I have ever played.
Aye, same here. I found the shooting mechanic especially satisfying 😌
I started playing it in 2023 also. I was blown away with how much I enjoyed the game. I haven't replayed it yet but will soon.
Well said 🙌 The life lessons part hits close to home for me, and led me to make the latest video specifically about that.
Great video. You used engaging clips in the right moments and the music is effective without being overbearing. I particularly enjoyed the discussions of Micah, Sadie and the immersive elements of the game like camp conversations and optional encounters. GTA 4 video next? There's always Half Life as well ; )
Haha, thank you! I'll do my best :)
Amazing how someone can make an hour long video feel like its only 10 minutes. You really got this shit locked down, great video.
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
I haven’t finished the video yet but I wanted to say something.
Great point!
And I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊
People who don't play nor like Red Dead 1 and 2 exclusively play fortnite, concord, dustborn. And watch only shows with laughtracks like the big bang theory and think that neil degrasse tyson is a super genius. And people who don't like John nor the Epilogue, are those rdr2 fans who never played the first one. They don't know how important John, Abigail and Jack are to the mythos of the Red Dead world ❤
Please keep making Red Dead Redemption 2 video essays! They never get old.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Turn off everything in the hud. No minimap no auto Aim. No subtitle.
The sun rises in the east, watch for road signs. And with no minimap npcs talk more. Are more descriptive.
Really becomes immersion.
I turned off all hud elements when recording the narrated experience video, it definitely let's you fully dive in
I'm gonna try that on my next play through. Thanks!
@0tt0z worth it. Started to try and do this to a lot of games.
Aye, his performance was incredible. I'm currently working on the next video that will be focused on Micah Bell.
this is some of the best and most introspective and well thought out content i’ve ever seen. all of your videos have great ideas and explanations that are very accurate and reflective. This is definitely the video that represents your amazing content!

"This is why you should play rdr2 twice"
Me on my 9th playthrough:
Haha, enjoy the replay 😅
Such an amazing game which should have had far more support for story mode (DLC) and online
For many media, (TV and such) there are some movies that defy the genre norms, but in such a way that it almost makes it seem like a masterpiece.
Examples would be Breaking Bad for television, The Dark Knight for superhero movies, The Truman Show for Jim Carrey movies, Prisoner of Azkaban for Fantasy, and you can throw in Game
Of Thrones books in there too for literature.
Me watching this while replaying rdr2 for the 5th time
Hell yeah, enjoy the playthrough
3:55 beautifully written introduction
Only twice, finished twice the year it came out and since then it's been a tradition to play every year at least once.
Played through it twice. I still play it just to admire the scenery. As a life long fan of westerns, I never imagined something like RDR2 would ever exist.
Aye, for any western fans, this was just perfect 🙌

RDR2 is perfection. everything was thought of in this game. it will never feel empty and boring unlike every other open world games.
I think one of the BEST things Rockstar did with this character is give him a journal for us to read. Because we may have our own thoughts on how things transpired but so does Arthur and it makes you look at events differently
unbelievable video man! this is the best description of the true work of art that RDR2 is!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it ❤️
A true masterpiece.
On my third playthrough and everytime I like to take my time with it; it's an experience that you can't rush, the game is made to taste it properly

Another good essay channel I recommend is "The Cursed Judge", specifically his "games that should only be played once" vid.

This is the best game I’ve ever played. Assassin creed was good but this one takes the cake. Simply put, a true masterpiece
It’s mad how this game gets you. Never been more invested in a character than Arthur. Whoever came up with that deserves a medal. What a game. GTA6 or RDR3. I’d take RD everyday. X
Such a masterpiece of a videogame - definitely need to play it again now. And great essay, exactly an hour long to watch while downloading the game)
Incredible video. Thank you for the time you spent making it.

I'm replaying Fallout New Vegas right now, such a blast
I have replayed RDR2 more times than I can think of, and I am again right now.
I'm all over it if there will be a VR version 🙌
I consider RD2 the Mona Lisa of games . That the only way I can look at it . Nothing is perfect is this world . But this has been the closest thing to perfect game I have ever played in my 43 years of life . The controls had me put off at first but then I realized it’s kinda like real life .. and movement really matters . I had no issues after that . For a year and a half I been trying to find something to play that’s close . I just haven’t found anything .😅

Wow, what a great explanation for this extraordinary game.
I felt the same way playing it. More a life experience than entertainment.
Well said.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊
You might like a video I did on life lessons from RDR2 as well.
A little over halfway in, and couldn't wait to say that I'm extremely impressed (of course I'm a little bias towards the subject matter lol)
Well put together with high quality editing and sound made me have do a double take in seeing that this channel is at 3.4 thousand subs not 3.4 million!
Regardless, with quality like this it won't be long till up in the millions... 🤠🍻

Hi! These are some nice songs you have put in your video. Can you tell me what they’re called?
Glad to hear. Song names are shown at the bottom left when they first start playing
You got this 🙌
Play RDR2 a second time? I’ve been playing it since a month after its release. Probably 15-20 play throughs. Still finding new things. Spending time in camp, after missions is extremely revealing. The game blossoms with every play through. Amazing. I’m playing right mow. Just got the legendary elk… massive beautiful virgin white pelt and legendary horn. Epic.
i’ve finished rdr2 this like 6 seperate times since release but i will no doubt watch anything on it
My first playthrough of RDR2, I was afraid to kill anyone because I felt like they would actually be gone. As opposed to GTA V where nobody matters and quest characters are never seen in the open world
Yes, I thought Sadie reminded me of Beatrix Kiddo too in Kill Bill. Very good comparison
This is one of those games that make me wanna wipe my memory so I can experience it for the first time again. Sad that it's been 5 years and nothing's even come close to top it. Anyway, excellent video, as always! 🥰
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it ❤️
This game saved me thru pandemic! and named my daughter Sadie. She's 2 years old now. =)
Loved the video! I'm sure you've already got recommendations but I'd love to see an essay about John marston or rdr1
Thank you, and I'll see what I can do :)
Haven’t even started the game and I’ve owned it since it came out… all these comments are allowing me to savor the greatness
Brother you’re doing yourself a disservice by not going in without any influence at all 😢.
@@1GiancarloD I can see what you’re saying but I haven’t paid attention to anything outside of the comments that talk about how good it is. Trust me, I’m still going in blind 😉
