Have really enjoyed watching your reactions to Season 1. Looking forward to Season 2. I think that monologue at the beginning is what tipped the scales in Jeremy Allen White getting the Emmy last year. The entire cast is amazing.
The entire monologue is brilliant but my favorite parts are 1) when he says "my brother's an addict- my brother was an addict", and later when Richie gives him the letter he says "I didn't want to give it to you because it meant he was really gone", showing that both of them had been in denial until that moment. 2) he says "I'm a cook", and in episode 1 he says he refers to everyone as "Chef" as a sign of respect, so that's telling that Carmy doesn't respect or see enough worth in himself to call himself a chef despite having been CDC at the best restaurant in the US.
The best take I've seen building from this episode is that the cans, and tax fraud, were a part of Mikey's plan, -build up a nest egg for Carmy -hide it away so that the IRS can't take any when he dies -die -Carmy gets to make something better than The Beef

Ma'am Mikey didn't delete himself because he didn't have the money, he was already depressed and addicted to drugs before that, he didn't get the mental help he needed, a restaurant wasn't going to change that
