My take is that Mike being depressed and an addict knew he wouldn't "make it", and didn't want his brother to see him in that state. He borrowed the money and "left" them to Carm to create the restaurant they wanted, because Carm had the drive Mike didn't.

That, and I also think he knew he had to push Carmy away hard so he wouldn't want to come there, because he knew Carmy really wanted to work there with him and would stay and just waste his potential. In pushing him away I think it might even mean "I believe in you, you can break the cycle and do better". I think it's very complex.

Fun Fact: The video game avatar talking to Fak was voiced by Paul Rudd.

The Bear cemented itself as a top tier show, to me personally, when Radiohead’s “Let Down” starts to play at the end. idk what it is about Radiohead but their music can just slightly elevate the moments of whatever show/movie it makes a feature in.

This is a 10/10 episode and a perfect finale, but I’m so glad they were renewed for more. Just found your channel because I’m dying to see other reactions to this show, but I love your discussions and insights when you break down the episodes!

That monologue deserved every damn award. That dialogue between Carmy & Sydney and that last glimpse of Mikey. ❤
The Dogs episode revealed that Carmy barely knew his father. I think the birth order of the siblings is important. Mikey was the oldest, Natalie, and the baby Carmy. Maybe Mikey was a father figure to both of his siblings.

What “dialogue” he helped her out with her shitty recipe after she created chaos at his restaurant and she told him to “shove it up his ass” that’s not a dialogue that’s a ungrateful brat being exactly who she is

The French Laundry is a 3 Michelin star restaurant in Napa Valley, California. The restaurant Carmen worked at in NYC was Eleven Madison Park (also a 3 Michelin star restaurant), which was in fact ranked the best restaurant in the world in 2017.

At the bachelor party, Richie called Carmy’s brother “Mikey Bear.” Bear is Michael’s nickname. Mikey’s the 🐻 on the bridge in the dream. It’s such a twist that Michael “borrowed” $300,000 from Cicero, but instead of putting it to work fixing up The Beef, or paying the IRS, he squirreled it away in cans as a final gift to Carmy to “let it rip.” The recipe was like a buried treasure map. This leaves me with so many questions. Was he planning his suicide when he asked Cicero for the money? Who is this KBL in the account book? Jimmy seems a little crooked, as in the Mob. Was Jimmy laundering money through the restaurant? Can’t wait for season 2!🥳

"Bear" is a nickname used by all of the Berzattos for each other - it's a play on their last name, pronounced BEAR-zah-toe. Natalie (Sugar) is also called Bear sometimes.

KBL can be seen printed on the tops of the cans of tomatoes. Micheal was keeping track of how much he was stashing in the KBL cans in that notebook.

I just recently discovered you and I'm really enjoying your reactions. You're very insightful and we can see how well you pay attention, which is a big deal for me. If you haven't done so yet, you should react to 'Beef." Based on your reaction to "The Bear", I think you would really like it.

Great final episode but I wouldn't worry about the money and the logistics of him hiding in the tomato cans it's not important. The only thing that irks me is Syd and Marcus never apologize and they just shit talk him behind his back. But I understand that's just me being salty.

You are not alone. First watch I thought Syd and Carm needed to apologize to each other. Marcus, a little different. He shows up to work next day as normal. Yes he was behind on cakes and got obsessed with the doughnuts and walked out. So yeah I guess he should have apologized as well. Not sure why they decided to not write that in. Both could have been quick lines. What Marcus said to Syd about getting f up, he could have said to Carm. Syd, could have even been a nod when she returns to the restaurant.

I think thats why theres so much syd and Marcus hate (from me included) because the show doesnt even have them say Sorry. Just one word would have gone a long way to smooth things over. Or even when they were talking over dinner just admit they fucked up. But as far as the audience knows they think they did nothing wrong. They would have to be delusional to think so.@@LaCheeserie

@@PillarOfWamuu I have not heard of Syd or Marcus hate. News to me. I don’t follow Reddit forums or things like that. Thankfully I have not seen it. Other than the non apologies, I love both characters. Honeydew for me is second to Forks on favorite episodes of season two. Ayo is a beast in the role.

@@LaCheeserie Its on the reddit and its just shit flinging back and forth. You got Sydney haters saying shes arrogant and a child that threw a tantrum and you got defenders who say shes perfect and anyone who doesnt like her is racist and sexist. It all mainly stems from her behavior in episode 7 and 8. Same with Marcus

@@PillarOfWamuu lol it was predictable that hate was on Reddit. Again, glad I’m not on there
