I saw one of those things back in 2007. Someone brought it to a nerdy meetup near Boston and I asked some questions about it since I had heard about the "$100 laptop" project and loved what they were trying to do. It's a nice little design even if it didn't meet the needs of the project.

I had one of these. My aunt bought me one and shipped to me over to the uk, from when i was like 6. Feels like i’ve time travelled seeing it again, and i think i still have it.
I've got two XO-1. I filled out the form to get the developer key for one. Then the developers updated the firmware to bypass the key check, so updating to the newer firmware unlocks the bootloader immediately.
I was born September 4,1998. I saw these things back in elementary but I always thought it was for them rich kids. That have some type of disability but turns out , u we're able to play games on them. Like math , learn English. Do and so. I never had one my self but saw it during my elementary days. I would of love it as a kid tho. Love you're content u like to bring a lot of nostalgia that's forsure much love. ❤️❤️
Dude! Don't just plug random cords into electronics especially older more rare tech like this. A ton of cords can all fit the plug but be rated wrong and can damage or ruin it. Check the input amps and voltage on the bottom or usually wherever the power cord plugs into and check the output on the power brick. Over amperage is fine but under can be bad. But over the wattage can fry it as soon as you turn it on or after extended use or could even heat it up and melt/burn it. Under watts can still power it but can strain the battery or certain things won't work as they should but shouldn't really harm it much just mainly being over the wattage is what you want to avoid. We have to keep this old stuff going so be careful not to ruin it man. That things pretty cool though
Yes, all you have to do is make sure Voltage matches device input voltage requirement and charger’s rated Current is equal to or greater than device’s current requirement.
@@human.earthling also have to check the polarity. That can fry it instantly. Like the genesis power cables can run an NES fine but an NES power brick will fry a genesis even though voltage and amps are matching the polarity is different between the two

And so I searched through a couple of Nick commercials breaks from 2011 and eventually found it
i still have one of these, its fun to go on in sometimes because i reminds me of when i was younger and always used this. sometimes i try coding on it with scratch. it can be laggy at times and hard to use, but it works
You know I would of bought this back in 2005 for 100 just because my handwriting was horrible. I wanted a laptop to take to school so bad but was worried about it getting broken. If they allowed you to change the specs such as better cpu ram etc if you paid extra it would be perfect.
oh boy i remember messing with the pippy app back at my 9 years old! i didn’t undestand too much about what i was doing but it was my first experience with programming. Nowadays i work as programmer thanks to those days back at my childhood messing with that crazy green waffle machine :,)

I got one of these today from a Yard Sale for $15 The OEM Adapter is From Bestec Specs : Input Volts: 100-240V AC Output Volts 13.5 DC 1.85A , The Model number is Located under the Battery. Mine is XO-1.5, The older version XO-1.0 with first Firmware if the CMOS battery went dead it would brick the system. I didn't like the surger desktop I switch to the gnome desktop at is on it.
I remember reading about OLPC in an article thing back when I was 7 or 8 years old. I at time didn't have a computer and wanted one really badly, so this is something i distinctly remember. Turns out I wasn't really missing a whole lot.

Check the date on the laptop, the network errors may be caused by wrong year and month. :)

It loads google because it is using the older HTTP url. The browser only really supports a hand full of websites nowadays.
