- I met up and had a lovely evening chatting to Jacqui Furneaux, author of bike adventure account 'Hit the road Jaq'.
We spent hours chatting and reminiscing about Jacqui's incredible 7 year journey.

Well, I’ve eventually got around to reading Jacqui’s book. I can’t express how much I enjoyed it, I was enthralled throughout. I encourage anyone to read it whether a biker or not. You will smile, laugh, shed a tear and above all be totally inspired. Thank you Jacqui for writing your book 🤗

What a fantastic story and so wonderful that you had this chance to meet her, and chat for so long.... A very courageous and talented woman from a time when Females doing this sort of thing was very rare. I think we could go so far as to say Jacqui paved the way for Itchy Boots.

Fantastically inspiring video, well done both of you. I have 9 Royal Enfield's but am overdue for an adventure on this scale. I now reside in Australia, Must get cracking. Fantastic!.... By the way Rest day rider I owned the house opposite the Prestleigh inn where you got breakfast after the bike show at the bath and west show ground, and it was very strange to see my old house through the prestleigh inn window whilst sitting hers in my new house in Queensland Gold Coast Australia. I might add which has some fantastic biking roads and the perfect weather to enjoy them with. If you feel the urge to explore SE Queensland do look me up, no spider swallowing is required. Keep up the great work....from a fellow west country man Lester Hall.

Great interview Charlie. Jacqui is a real adventurer in the spirit of those Victorian British ladies who crossed Deserts on Camels or trekked into wild places. No fuss, no publicity, just did it. A book for my Winter reading for sure.👍

I've just finished the book and all I can say is "wow"! For anyone even remotely interested in motorcycles or traveling and especially traveling on motorcycles this book is a must-read. Thanks again for this one Charlie. I would never have learned about this impressive lady or her story if it weren't for your channel. Good luck on your own adventures as well.

great interview, Charlie and good for Jacqui, I`d forgot all about the Hu forum, they helped me to find a roll on roll off ferry to S Korea from Russia(who knew!) nearly 20 years ago, good to see Jacqui is off again, I`m off to dig my scrape book out to get some motivation, been sat on my ass too long.🤣👍
I'm sure if Jacqui and I can persuade just a few people ( you!) to get out there on your bike for an adventure then it's a mission success!

Greetings from down under. Thankyou both so much. Very inspiring. I recently read Lone Rider a book by Elspeth Beard, her story as the first British woman to motorcycl around the world back in the 1980,s. Maybe another excellent conversation on your channel...jus sayin. Thankyou.
If you enjoyed talking about her journey You have to read LONE RIDER by Elsbeth Beard. The first British woman to ride round the world. Fantastic read and quite tearful at the end. I highly recommend it. There are some really brave women and fantastic adventurers.

Excellent, enjoyed. My friend John finished University, took a year off to do V.S.O in Papua New Guinea in 1978. He helped set up a coconut plantation and was the only European for about 100 miles. Had to deal with some tricky situations. But that started him on his travels. Which as you mentioned was without mobile phones and such. He spent the next 11 years travelling around the world. He went just about everywhere you could actually go (when he retired he went to the places he couldn’t go like Vietnam and Cambodia). He only had motorcycles in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia he rode completely round the perimeter and the middle! He eventually came home and at 34 finally got a job and a BMW GS. 🤣 He could definitely write a book and it would have so many interesting adventures that it would be far better than most travel books. He kept diaries throughout. I tried to get him to but he won’t. Our loss! 👍

So Jacqui was the original Itchy Boots. My goal is to meet you Charlie and also Itchy boots Noraly. Her exploits are so gripping to see her journeys around the world. I’ll certainly look out for Jacqui’s book. Noraly has wrote a book in Dutch but she will write it in English. So, Charlie that leaves you to write a book about your travels and experiences. 😊
