This area was my playground way back in the 1980's. Parking was free and speed limits were higher most of the time not enforced. This was the best time of my life. I never seen Merlin's Mount. Sidbury Hill always had water around it in winter. When they closed Stonehenge festival the travellers found alternatives. One of the small meeting places was the long barrow. No music or large groups. Just a few gathered there, just a load of candles to light the inside and the smell of "herbs" being smoked outside. The shot at 7:01 reminds me of the Hergest Ridge album cover.
there used to be bike nights every wednesday at the Red Lion back in the 90's until the land lady changed and they put in a pay to park machine, two car parks full of bikes.
Next time you are in North Wales, visit Bryn Celli Ddu on Anglesey/Ynys Môn, also plenty of other neolithic burial chambers. Also nice to see Bimble in common use :)
Great video Charlie, loved it. Reminded me of when my brother and I visited Wiltshire and Salisbury 15 years or so ago. He was going through a really tough time (messy divorce) and I took him away for a few days just to let him clear his head. We visited lots of the burial mounds, stone circles and chalk horses (and Marlborough) and also drank far too much ale and whisky. It cheered him up no end though!!!!
Thank you for the lovely video, it’s worth remembering that most of us don’t have to travel far to see some beautiful places. Thank you as well for being a responsible drone pilot, one of my pet hates is the number of TH-cam content creators are not. It seems to be fashionable to fly a drone when and wherever they chose. Not only is this bad practise which could be used to tighten the drone regulations even further but as influencers they are encouraging others to fly where they have flown. One word of advice… take notice of what your app says, do not rely on the DJI controller’s information. If I power up my DJI controller in my house it informs me that there are no restrictions and that I am clear to fly. That is a lie. My house is under a no-fly zone. Looking further I discovered that the DJI controller only comments on airspace near to airports and has no data for other no fly areas. DJI now realise that it is not a good idea to give out false information and are supposed to be changing the wording to be a reminder to check your no-fly app or map before take off. I’m looking forward to a lot more videos now that the sunshine, longer days and warm weather are returning so please keep up the excellent work.

When I was a child we did a school trip. Avebury, stonehenge, Silberry hill. 30 kids climbed silberry once we got to top a swarm of bees descended on us. We all ran down as fast as possible. Over the years still like going around that area, though now live much much much further south so cant.

Great video again thanks. A couple of years back Wiltshire Advance Riders put together a route map for circulation of the county it was to raise money for blood bikers I think. Great way to see the county
Well done Charlie , you're so right about it being so easy to take it all for granted about all the great history around us. Another great put together video , nice to see Silbury hill with it's new feature " the moat " .
Nice Bimble Charlie. Long Tom standing stone is close to Fyfield down nature reserve, there's a lot of Neolithic left overs down there, including a nice Dolman called the Devils den :) I flew my drone the other day and had the same problem, hopefully there will be less wind soon. Sandy
Great video Charlie, reminded me of my visits to family on my 1972 T120 650 Bonnie back in the day. Thanks for the amazing content Charlie, it always amazes me of how much history our country England has, awesome drone footage and we’ve always got to have a pub stop. Awesome thank you for sharing.

Thanks Charlie, happy memories of being parked up for the night at the first farm (delivering fertilizer) at Avebury, spent many a evening at the Red Lion & walking around the stones, I see Marlborough has improved its traffic 🤣🤣 loved the video 👍👍
Hi Charlie. Its interesting, i think most of us neglect to explore what is right on our doorstep,we all tend to go further afield. I was born and brought up on the edge of The Lake District but spent very little time exploring what was so nearby.😢 Your mini tour shows some of what is all around you and there was plenty of interesting things to do and see without going too far from home.☺️ Not managed to get far yet on the bike here this year, the weather in Northumberland isnt playing ball yet☹️. 🌧️🌧️🙄
Great video Charlie, when I lived in the UK (Christchurch/New Forest area) Salisbury Plain, before moving to Spain, was one of the areas which always 'called me' for a ride on my bikes. Avebury IMHO is far better that Stonehenge and its still free with being able to still touch the stones. But although visiting the West Kennet Long Burrow on many occasions the last time was rather unnerving for me, the other people who were already inside when I got there left whilst I was probably where your 'New Age' girls were and it left me alone inside. At first nothing happened but after a few minutes of being alone a terrible fear came over me and I had to get out immediately. Yes I am slightly psychic and can feel 'the other side' at times but that felt like pure evil, something I do not want to know again. But as I said earlier, loved the video, first time I visited all those sights was in 1956 when my uncle drove our family, in his little Morris 8 car, around the area, everything was free and completely accessible in those days, except the little museum at Avebury, very 'dusty' as I remember it. And vehicles didn't need MOT's they came in during 1959, a lot of cars etc went to the scrap yard after that, my uncle's included 😢 By the way, the Uffington White Horse is probably the oldest and original one, plus opposite is where St George killed the dragon, on Dragon's Mount, must be true as the grass will not grow on that spot where its blood was spilt. Maybe another trip and video?
Hi 😊 I love to watch your videos from you life on a bike. In July I am going to Spain from Norway on my Harley Pan America Special and it could be fun if you a on the road some where in Europe and we could meet and have a chat and a cup of te. best wishes Lasse
Stunning and entirely different prospective than any other.. I'll give the benefit of doubt on 8 Horses, aerial and up close, I'd say only 7 Horse and 1 chalky Giraffe. A ride out would be to Uffington White Horse and Dragon Hill. Elsewise chalk figures you'd need to venture over into Dorset, n' Cerne Abbas Giant.. Roger sure took to have a bit of a Gallop.. where he'd take a girl.. Long Tom 8' 3" in o'l money..! thing about portals.. like sheep, Ewe.. Hey Ho. Stay safe. Cheers
Great to see some of the ancient sites in Wiltshire, a wonderful county. I lived there over four years at different times I still miss it. How is Roger handling since you lowered your suspension, did it make a noticeable difference to the handling?

Not managed to get far yet on the bike here this year, the weather in Northumberland isnt playing ball yet☹️. 🌧️🌧️🙄
Thank you, it's great to make sure you do t take your local area for granted. 😊
Love your filter technology
Brilliant 👍
And vehicles didn't need MOT's they came in during 1959, a lot of cars etc went to the scrap yard after that, my uncle's included 😢
By the way, the Uffington White Horse is probably the oldest and original one, plus opposite is where St George killed the dragon, on Dragon's Mount, must be true as the grass will not grow on that spot where its blood was spilt. Maybe another trip and video?
Wow, sorry you had a strange experience at the barrow!
Home sweet home. 😂 I was born at Alton Barnes.
Can't believe you stud on that poor horses eye, and you're a paramedic !.........😊.....Great video 👍
😂
Hi 😊 I love to watch your videos from you life on a bike. In July I am going to Spain from Norway on my Harley Pan America Special and it could be fun if you a on the road some where in Europe and we could meet and have a chat and a cup of te. best wishes Lasse
AHH I shall be in Europe a month earlier!
Hey Ho.
Stay safe. Cheers
Think I may need to check that one out. 🙂
@@restdayrider One things you're the right Lady for the Examination of that Fellow..! if we're talking Cerne Abbas.
Beautiful Charlie thanks for sharing
My pleasure 😊
Why not do Westbury white horse lovely route up there
I may do a tour of the horses.
Only in Wiltshire would you bump into a couple of witches!
😂
Great to see some of the ancient sites in Wiltshire, a wonderful county. I lived there over four years at different times I still miss it. How is Roger handling since you lowered your suspension, did it make a noticeable difference to the handling?
Hi, I noticed NO change to the handling at all. 😊
@@restdayrider Thank you 👍👏
