I recently bought Anthem for only a couple bucks for the PS4, only to realize it needed a 26GB update, and then I realized you need to pay for PS+ to play the SINGLEPLAYER campaign. Needless to say that one went right into the garbage bin. Then I put in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow into my PS3 and started playing that instead.
What a jke I wish I was born a few years earlier man i never got to ply the ps2 but got to see my old bro play socom scarface the first cars game hell even the wacky ass matrix game damn I miss my old psp
It's nice to hear you talk about these games like that because for me too it kinda makes me nostalgic and I remember enjoying a lot of the same titles. I still have my pink PS2 from 2005 and sometimes still play them and get a warm feeling inside.
Bully will forever live in my heart because I played it while still at school at that nostalgia is honestly astounding. Get it every time I load it up and hear the baseballs hit the rockstar logo.
Ps4 was a fraud. That share button was a warning sign of a generation that was fooled by paid influencers that created hype over overpriced broken and incomplete games full of microtransactions, lootboxes needing patches and monthly payment. Sony taking of the retrocompatibility of the ps3 was the beginning of the end. The industry needs another 1983 crisis to heal the greed of lazy publishers.
I'd also say 5th gen is just as good. The N64 was the major shift from 2D to 3D and goddamn did they do it good! So many legendary games on that console alone.
that game is awesome.. they definitely need to remake it.. that's a game I'd be happy to pay full price for.. I played hours in that game, used to get rich off the poker machines lol.. True Crime, streets of LA is a game i enjoyed quite alot. Its branching storie and multiple endings, together with the shooting system with neutralizing and fatal shots and driving skills, made it unique. The first time i played, on rhe driving school, i accidentally unlocked all driving skills through a cheatcode. So i thought you learned all skills just after you finished the first stage of rhe driving school, i took years to know it was unlocked progressivelly
I still have my PS2 and True Crime streets of LA. I haven’t played that game in years but since you brought it up in this video, I’m gonna play it tonight lol
Totally agree with Tony hawk 3 man I was always ripping my hair out trying to get those tapes. Amazing soundtrack. Always looked for another game like it. Closest thing was Tony hawk underground 2 and skate 3 for the ps3
I got my ps2 slim as a gift when i was 5 years old in '07. Years later in 2018 i just plugged my ps2 and search in the Internet about this generation of consoles and the PS2 is the King of systems, you should try and make walkthroughs of your favorite games. Greetings from Mexico!
This video got me to buy a ps2 at 20 years old in 2024. I grew up on ps3, ps4 and now have a ps5. But I’ve always been curious abt some of these classics. And when playing them on a newer console they feel gimmicky. Well I guess I wouldn’t really know but hopefully I find out what made the ps2 era so incredible
The PS2 has the best catalog of any gaming console ever. No matter what genre of games you like, it has a game for you, and that game probably is the best in that series lol
I absolutely f’k’n *loved* True Crime: Streets Of LA. The skill/combat levelling-system was so incredibly innovative at the time and all of the game’s mechanics were smooth AF. I remember always having little taste for driving or racing games but found the driving mechanics for TC:SoLA to be really enjoyable, smooth and consistent…The whole game was like being immersed in a late 90s action movie. SSX3 was also one of my favourite games of all time for the PS2 & just watching those clips made me realise I need to get it again for whichever console I decide to buy. I remember the music being absolutely life-changing and incredibly inspiring for me as a kid. I need that OST back in my life and that ambient snow-covered atmosphere back in my imagination for the immersion it gave me. Vice City Stories & Liberty City Stories are both games that I never got to experience either but I’m going to buy them and play them via the backwards-compatibility option in the Xbox One-looking forwards to seeing what I’ve been missing out on. Truly an awesome era of gaming.
Man your videos are amazing I want to thank you for making these videos you have made me want to play so many games I’ve never thought I would like la noire for the ps3 and mafia
I've had a used copy of True Crime Streets of LA in my collection for close to 15 years without ever playing it. At least I THINK it's still in my collection... In any case - it's a game I should at least try some day.
One thing i like about the ps2 is the plethora of compilation disc games on that generation. Midway arcade classics 1-3, metal slug anthology, intellivision lives, atari anthology, SNK arcade classics vol 1 [they never made a vol2], taito legends 1 and 2- you can get over a hundred games from about a dozen games on the ps2.
This was before online was mainstream and publishers couldn’t just ship a broken game and use micro transactions to milk users for cash. The games had to work and actually be fun if they wanted to make money.
Have you ever played Jet Set Radio Future on the original xbox? It's one of those games that I always forget how good it is. On the rare occasions I go back and play it I always end up thinking this game is so much fun. Why the hell don't I play it more often? It's also got really good music.
I’ve been playing Bully on 360 and owned it for PS2! -SSX Tricky was my favourite in the series because I was introduced to it on those old Demo Discs that came with the PlayStation Magazine. -NFSHP2 is an awesome game and the console version is better than the PC version. I remember my parents renting it for me at blockbuster and we never found a copy at the local Toys R Us or K-Mart, so years later I got it on eBay. -I’m into racing games and F1 Career Challenge was my favourite on PS2! - All GTAs were amazing to play too. - THPS3 was played so much that I still know all of the soundtracks.
@@mandibiedermann2246No they are not. Pre- 7th generation consoles were made for CRT's. LCD TV's generally have a hard time dealing with those lower resolutions, and particularly with 480i that most PS2 games output. It just won't look as good, and there will also be lag too. Granted, for some people might be ok with that. But to really experience the games at their best you need either: a) a CRT TV; or b) A quality upscaler like the OSSC or Retrotink 5x.

The soundtrack to true crime la is really good too. I'm also another £400 in a hole on ps1 games since your last upload. Your content has seriously pushed my nostalgia button and have since caught the bug for collecting games.
@BasementGamerYT I'm wanting to get the silent hill games, suikoden and shadow hearts games too but over here in the UK the prices are silly. Silent hill shattered memories is around £350-£500, not sure how that converts to your currency but its a crazy price for a ps2 game.
Remaster or remake? Either way, it really doesn't need it imo. The RE2 and RE3 remakes made sense, but I don't think it does for a lot of PS2/Xbox games. They just need to be made available for modern consoles/TV's, and the Max Payne games are already backwards Compatible on Xbox anyway (and look great for 20+ year old games).
PS2 games are pretty cheap here in the UK. You can get both True Crime games for £6 total from CEX. Certain games cost a bit more ie Silent Hill 2 for £50, MVC2 for £40, Hit and Run for £25. But for the most part is £10 or less. PS1/N64 games and especially Genesis/SNES games can be quite a but more though.
We definitely talked about graphics in the PS2 gen, graphics even had their own section in the Game Informer reviews, which I read and reread every magazine from probably 2004 to 2010. Games like Resident Evil 4, God of War, Need for Speed Underground, The Suffering Ties that Bind, Gun I remember all blew me away with the graphics, and in the case of The Suffering it was specifically how your character would get covered with blood. Max Payne 2 was awesome because of the ragdoll physics, and graphics were pretty good too. It wasn’t all about graphics though, because the GTA games were obviously the biggest franchise on the PS2, and none of them had particularly good graphics. In fact, they were some of the ugliest games I played on the PS2, but it didn’t matter because the quality and quantity of what you could do and where you could go. I remember playing GTA 3 when it first released and I thought we had reached the pinnacle of video games. Then Vice City came out and surpassed 3 and blew my mind again. Then when San Andreas came out and we had 3 cities, a pool mini game, rpg like stat system, car customization, SWIMMING, etc., etc., etc. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. PS2 was great because of the games, and the technological leaps within the generation were unreal, and that’s what I liked most about it.
Another solid upload dude, good work! Have you fallen totally out of love with modern gaming altogether?probably understandable enough Thoughts on the vita or ps handheld making a comeback?👍🏽
I remember being a kid and getting ssx tricky for the OG Xbox and it honestly was amazing, dunno if it still holds up but from what I remember it was a great game with simple controls. Then around 2012 they released ssx for x360 and it was just rubbish, it was like they had the potential there for it but couldn't make it live up to expectations
Amazing content as always, but who is gonna say to him :D? - If he just makes a switch from those AV cables and puts original component -> he probably be throwing his PS5 outta window :D when he sees that games how amazing they actually look in 2024.
People who are graphics hungry are either kid from 2010s or spoiled youtuber you give wrong influence. Games are not just graphics but fun and story etc. 6 gen games was best really they will be forever remember in everyones heart. The games were good fun no bug and just own it play no online shit easy fun. I have good spec but still i love to play games on low settings and all. Only minimum people are their who loves to play games like that i am one
Welp I wasn't a big PS2 fan, I love the PS1 and nowadays the PS3 more than I would expected, but the PS2 got some unique Horror Games, which was to me more the perfect console for the Horror Genre, which I played mostly on PC but yah I enjoyed it. The 6th Generation is a interesting era of PS2/Gamecube/Xbox Classic, was more the GC Fan till today. True Crime Streets of LA is an interesting GTA Clone, I got this on PC too, anyways this game is fun😃
Hey man do you mind mentioning what sort of upscaler you use to give the ps2 a better resolution for a modern tv?I don’t mind paying the money for it as long as I know it does a good job!thanks bud👍🏽
The best option is definitely the Retrotink 5x. If money REALLY isn't an issue, you could go for the Retrotink 4K, but that's probably a bit Overkill. The next best option would probably be the OSSC, however this is not really ideal for playing 480i games (which a lot of PS2 games are). For playing PS2 games, the best option is definitely either a CRT TV or the Retrotino 5x.

Another solid upload dude,good work!
Have you fallen totally out of love with modern gaming altogether?probably understandable enough
Thoughts on the vita or ps handheld making a comeback?👍🏽
I remember being a kid and getting ssx tricky for the OG Xbox and it honestly was amazing, dunno if it still holds up but from what I remember it was a great game with simple controls. Then around 2012 they released ssx for x360 and it was just rubbish, it was like they had the potential there for it but couldn't make it live up to expectations
Now we need a ps1 games video
Shadow of Rome by capcom. 👌
Retrotink 5x
The best option is definitely the Retrotink 5x. If money REALLY isn't an issue, you could go for the Retrotink 4K, but that's probably a bit Overkill. The next best option would probably be the OSSC, however this is not really ideal for playing 480i games (which a lot of PS2 games are). For playing PS2 games, the best option is definitely either a CRT TV or the Retrotino 5x.
I play all these with my modded ps3!
Ssx tricky, u did good
Definitely missed Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2. They still hold up extremely well.
what is the video converter you have? i’m looking to purchase one but want one that is good
Kevin, when will you finish Until Dawn?
Good video.
Ace Combat 5 alone is enough reason but there are so many good games
The funny thing is that true crime streets of la came first
You gotta play the time splitters series if you haven’t already
What is the HDMI converter you use?
No you did not just break out the ssx, straight up one of my favorite game series ever
i really like when u talk about ps2 and ps3 games , thank u
I know I’m late but you need to review a forgot superhero game. Hulk ultimate destruction!
Bully 2 got cancelled because of people buying shark cards for gta online
I will forever be heart broken by that news i still can't believe that shit
