Get a super slim. Trust me from experience i can tell you you dont want to live worrying that ur fat ps3 will brick one day😅. Less moving parts, less prone to malfunctions 👍 PS3s are always worth it to buy and collect. We're in the sweet spot to buy and collect with modest prices 😀
@GrmDark I got a red super slim a few days back. Pretty neat little console. I bought a PS3 slim before from the same buyer but that one had issues with the PSU and couldn't read a lot of discs. Super slim doesn't feel as premium as the OG or the slim but I'll take a reliable system over a premium feeling one any day
Games I completed that you mentioned: LA Noire Mafia II Burnout Paradise (most favorite racing game of all time) Sleeping Dogs PlayStation 3 was a great console and that era was a good time.
@@scatered1 Considering most of the games aren't on Steam or cannot be played on new Windows OS. And since not everyone can afford a gaming PC or laptop, some people choose PS3 or XBOX 360 as an alternative means of playing those games.
After 11 years of not having a working PS3 after my second 40GB model YLOD'd, I got a red unmodded super slim. So very happy to be able to play my old games again on the PS3. I've been emulating with RPCS3 for years but I wanted that OG experience again. Got all my bases covered now with a PS5, gaming laptop and PS3. Got a modded PS2 Slim from the seller as well but that's moreso just to have it again rather than use it. I use my phone to emulate PS2 games. Was playing MW2 on hardened a while ago on the PS3, and RE5 and Dead Space 2 before that. I'll be going through the older God of War games again soon and I'll attempt to get back all the platinums I acquired back in the day (RE5, inFamous, PoP 2008, AC2) and also get the platinums for the games I never got like MGS4 and MW2
Your drive for the classics has definitely pushed me into a hole of the classics. My love is the ps1 though and since I've been watching your channel, I've spent a lot of money collecting them. My aim is to get every ps1 game released in the uk
@BasementGamerYT it's a blast, I was playing it a few days ago. Something really charming about the simplicity of the ps1 compared to modern gaming. I'm currently playing through vagrant story, such a good game.
I was sick for the last four days and stumbled on your channel. Fast forward to this day, I have watched your every video. Fast forward to tommorrow, I'll have picked up a second hand PS3 and will be playing Killzone 2. Thank you very much for the great content and inspiration! :)
One indicator that serves the notion of games from the PS3 era and PS2 era being better than current gen, is when gaming magazines reviewed games during those gens, reply ability was taken into account. How many games on modern consoles do any of us always find ourselves going back to? For me, not that many I’ll tell you that.
Burnout Paradise is dear to my heart, im 17 and grew up playing with my dad, another street racer is Midnight Club LA is my fav of all time , real map, licensed cars/music, buildings in LA as of 2008, night cycle and police, GTA IV is also very dear to me.
Fantastic video man. Your delivery is spot on lol. I suggest playing Splinter Cell Blacklist. That is probably one of my top 10 ps3 games. Mafia 2 is top 5. Great story and gameplay. Keep the videos rolling man, cool stuff
i remember getting mahunt and calling my friend to come over cuz i was too scared to play alone. and then my friend ran back home after 20 minutes because he was scared too...
I wanted to recommend you to try out Saints Row 2. It's very similar to GTA, but different enough to be it's own unique thing. The story is great and still remains one of my favorite games 14 years later. Another classic that I'm just experiencing for the first time now, but that's absolutely blowing me away with how good the story is, is Final Fantasy X
L.A. Noire is one of my all time favorite games. I bought it 3 times. PS3, PS3 Complete Edition, and on PS4. Looks the game you have is the standard release. The artwork would have Complete Edition on it.
Mate, I’ve been watching your channel grow and it’s incredible. I came in around the 2K subscriber mark I think and you’re about to hit 10K. Awesome work! I’ll watch the video after work (Australia) and leave another comment then.
And Sleeping Dogs is the absolute perfect shot of adrenaline mixed with an amazing story! I've lost count of how many times I've played that game since the first time in 2013 - currently replaying it on the PS4 port of the game, on the PS5 ✨️
Your doing a great job bro 😂 got me back into buying ps3 and ps2 , GET THAT DANTES INFERNO , RED DEAD NIGHTMARE, afro samurai , god of war 3 and ascension
Kevin, been watching you for years. This channel is damn awesome, such a different side of you, but still the same old Kevin. Keep being you buddy, you’re awesome
Keep these gems coming, love your content bro. So happy you finally got to experience mafia 2, that game must be one of the best ones ever made, in my opinion.
Burnout paradise is one of my favorite racing games. That and split second. It’s a shame there won’t be any more of either of these but at least burnout paradise was remastered and put on switch
man, i miss the ps3 times so much. i don't know if it's just me but i feel like the ps3 community was so much nicer than the ps4 one, it was so easy making new friends, it had lots of great games, and of course, the online was free. i'm also sure that if it wasn't for that new account problem some games have where your game or lobby crashes it would have more players, especially online. still, i'm really grateful that i had the opportunity of living in this awesome and unforgettable era, also to all of you guys who still play on the ps3... you are real OG's
I am more into the kid friendly games due to the art style but some games to try out can be: Dragons Crown, Enslaved Odyssey to the West, and Split/Second Velocity.
Have returned to mafia 2 multiple times. And only recently completed it again. just a fantastic story. Recommend trying the bond games. They made a few great ones. Have been waiting for them to become backward compatible. But it ain't ever going to happen.
Glad you showed some love for Def Jam Icon! The graphics were solid and the gameplay and concept was good it just needed more faster gameplay close to Def Jam Fight for NY! Wished they brung back this series as well as Burnout!
I'll say it again - You gotta check out Binary Domain - Bad frame rate at times but such a fun third person shooter in the vein of Gears of War type gameplay so much fun though. I'm also enjuoying Dark Void (Another 3rd person shooter) has Nolan North (voice actor of Nathan Drake) at the helm so it's definitely like a weird offshoot Uncharted feeling adventure. And above ALL OF THOSE. Get yourself SPEC OPS: The LINE. INCREDIBLE game and story
Mafia II is one of the Best Crime games out there. Godfather II is second. LA Noire is CRIMINALLY Underrated, I put so many Hours into Burnout Paradise on PS3, PS4-5 Its insane. We need a new True Crime game. PS Pickup the ATV Game PURE, it reminds me of SKATE. More realistic and fun Game. 1 of 2 Games Disney released in the early 2010’s the other is Split/Second!
I swear people truly underestimate how great the 7th generation is and how graphically I feel games reach the perfect balance while still having creativity and fun gameplay brought from the 6th generation. It was the “sweet spot”!
I still have my ps3 and play it from time to time. I mostly go back and play the Arkham or uncharted games but the game I go back to the most is probably the Motorstorm series which is unfortunately stuck on the ps3… It is so unique and one of my absolute favourite games ever and I really wish the would remaster it for the ps5 at some point
Great video, love PS3, been playing it forever, but PS2 been playing longer, if you enjoy PS3 open world games you need to try the elder scrolls series and fallout, graphics are fantastic
After years i finally got decent enough pc and thank god for emulation developers & their amazing work i now can play PS3 games flawlessly and even at better resolution & performance. Been playing Red Dead Redemption , Uncharted 3 and MGS4 and having so much fun , i missed out on these games never my parents would buy me a console. So many awesome games that came out that generation and still holds up well by modern AAA standard
The Dead Space series, especially 3, are must plays. Burnout 3 on PS2 is a banger, has NFS: Underground 2 demo baked into the extras section and an awesome exclusively punk rock soundtrack. If you like punk rock, you'll appreciate it. If not, you'll absolutely hate it 😂. Another good video man, keep 'em comin'.
I want to be happy, too. There are so many backlog games, lots of time, and so little money. Seems like a good comparison to play games on my own time that I like instead of going with the time in technology.
On PS3, MAFIA 2 is the greatest game ever for me. You get all the dlc like Joe's Adventure, and the other characters, man it's a vibe. Back when dlc was new, and for $9.99 you got a ton of extra stuff. Anyone buying mafia 2 on disc should get the game with ALL DLCs
The Ninja Gaiden series is really fun on PS3 (the PS3 versions are different from the original versions on the og xbox and the 360), as well as infamous 1+2, and any of the Ratchet and Clank Future games.
I have to confess, you mister are the funniest natural talented TH-camr to produce any content I have watched 5 or so of your videos in a row and in not 1 of them I didn't laugh a dozen times your comments and remarks deserve an Oscar hahha please keep making your channel legendary and could we see your reaction and thoughts on games such as SAINTS ROW 2&3, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, Fight Night Round 4, Tomb Raider online please?
Try playing Dragon's Dogma, COD Black Ops 2, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Red Faction Guerrilla, any of the Mass Effect games any of the Bioshock games, Red Dead Redemption and Infamous. See how you like em.
Here's the thing: Mafia II could've been so much more than what we got, a lot was cut out. There was going to be a campaign in Sicily alongside more chapters, you were going to be able to do more side jobs, it's even said in-game that you can buy a phony gun license, but you can't buy one and you don't need one to buy weapons. And that's just a few things they were working on. It's still an amazing game, one of my all time favourites. But if it was fully realized, it would've been even better Sleeping Dogs also could've been such an amazing franchise, a sequel would've been amazing to see just with what they could've done with adding new features and expanding the world. It's a shame the studio shut down, and they were making a sequel of sorts before. Still a great game.
I really enjoy your videos and mellow tone you have. You remind me of a mob moss. I have stumbled across your channel today and just subscribed. I’m a retro game collector myself and my favourites ps2 games are. GOD OF WAR series , HEADHUNTER , Rune Viking warlord. Pilot down - behind enemy lines. I have played over 1500 games! Anyway keep up the videos
I've been on a super Open World bidge myself with 2023 being the most games I've played in a year ever & I've been having a ball...I would recommend Red Dead Redemption 1, Max Payne 3, Saints Row 2, Fight Night Champion, & Skate 3...All with dope storylines, gameplay, & repayablity
I Payed some guy on offerup like $150 to mod and install as many games on a 1tb harddrive. Yes I could of done it on my own but I just want to play play
@@Dragonfury3000 god those games are gold. I thought he mentioned them already that's why i didn't say, but i might be getting them mixed up with FEAR (another great set of games)
Hey Kev, if you are into racing games, Blur and Split Second are excellent on the old PS Triple. Another game I enjoy on the system is Asuras Wrath. It’s a wild game for sure!
Well list😃 I bought MGS Ground Zeroes + V TPP, which I enjoyed for the curious open world stealthgameplay even if the story is meh, level- and missiondesign strange but gameplaywise is a hell of fun and it doesn't look bad on PS3. The next is Alpha Protocol by Obsidian Entertainment, most known for Part II Games like: Kotor II, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout New Vegas. But this Game is pretty rough with Gameplay, Tutorial and Minigames, but the writing is so well done and the game to me is much better than Mass Effect🤔
I have finished mafia II more than 5 times and all other mafia games including original 2002 mafia 1. Mafia II is one of my most favorite games of all time, I can't forget the experiences i had with this game. I felt like i was in the world living those moments with people in the game, i felt like i was the mafia member living in the city of Empire Bay
You have great taste ...except for Def Jam Icon, I bought it without not knowing anything about it, back then as 12 year old that was one of my biggest mistakes along with buying a guitar hero without owning a guitar.
Buying ps3, ps2 games lately building my collection back up, i got gta4 again after you hyping it not played it since i bought it new, i purchased motorstorm 2 and 3 at the weekend you should check out those, super fun racers with good soundtracks.
Along with dipping into God of War Ragnarok for the first time recently I've currently been messing around with the RPCS3 emulator, firing up some of the old PS3 titles on that. And truth be told it's an effort sometimes going back to the PS5 and GoW tbh... And I'm not entirely sure why that is. It's a fine game, there's nothing obviously wrong with it imo and I very much enjoyed the 2018 release also. But the problem is that games these days feel almost like overly bloated chores, indispersed with some really good bits. With these 7th and 6th gen titles there's more often a better balance between depth and overall game pace. It's been a pleasure rediscovering the ps3 and 360 over the last couple of months and building a nice physical collection of my favourites, plus those I missed out on back in the day.
Games still came out more finished and didn't need to be patched to hell back then. Miss the days when I bought a game physically and it was complete product. Yeah some bugs where a thing, hint hint crash twinsanity, but it still was a trip to play through.
The Walking Dead A Telltale games series is also a great story based game you do get platinum trophy for only beating the game I recommend this for everyone
Since you liked Rainbow Six: Vegas, where you're tactical and control your squad, i recommend these games. Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood, they're both for PS2. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, this is for PS3. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Operation Flashpoint: Red River, both of these are for PS3.
Just started Final Fantasy 13. Game is gorgeous in 1080p and no download required, played straight from disc. Also advanced warfighter cod is 1080p and plays great.
The PS3 is one of my favourite consoles, no doubt. Just a random fact check, L.A. Noire was developed by the now extinct australians, Team Bondi and was published by Rockstar Games. And they only made L.A. Noire and entered liquidation in October 2011. Many of their members were working on another game named Whore of the Orient but it was cancelled.
I really hope this man sticks with old School gaming videos! I can watch these all day!!!

I've been on a super Open World bidge myself with 2023 being the most games I've played in a year ever & I've been having a ball...I would recommend Red Dead Redemption 1, Max Payne 3, Saints Row 2, Fight Night Champion, & Skate 3...All with dope storylines, gameplay, & repayablity
i finished mafia 2 a week ago great game also installed sleeping dogs but i havent had the time to start playin lol
i have jailbroken ps3 and i can play any ps1/2/3game i want for free 😅
@@e3nnsarbadass man. That's a console for life.
This video make me feel better about my sudden urge to buy every game i didn’t get to play so far X-men origins wolverine is badass
I Payed some guy on offerup like $150 to mod and install as many games on a 1tb harddrive. Yes I could of done it on my own but I just want to play play
A few games i think you'll love
Binary Domain, Just Cause 2 and Wanted Weapons of Fate.
And the darkness games
Mafia 2 is a certified hood classic. Eddie Mathews approved.
If you can find The Saboteur, it is an unbelievably amazing game with an insane story! Total hidden gem! 💎
Def check out Folklore, Alpha Protocol, Socom 4, Heavy Rain is a must!, Borderlands, Kane and Lynch you'll love too!
Love your channel, have you played Dante’s Inferno for PS3 or 360. I think it good
Just bought burnout paradise and i dont regret it
Along with dipping into God of War Ragnarok for the first time recently I've currently been messing around with the RPCS3 emulator, firing up some of the old PS3 titles on that.
I've spent more time playing on my backwards compatible PS3 more than any other console I've ever owned...it is THAT good 👍
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a hell of a lot of fun and hard to put down.
The Walking Dead A Telltale games series is also a great story based game you do get platinum trophy for only beating the game I recommend this for everyone
I still play PS2, PS3, PS4 and PSVita games despite owning a PS5. Legacy gaming is great
Since you liked Rainbow Six: Vegas, where you're tactical and control your squad, i recommend these games.
I'm just gonna say it: sleeping dogs was actually better than the grand theft Auto series.
Just the way they built up hong Kong is incredible
the fist combat is good, not with the guns because the gunplay is poor
Whenever I’ve played mafia 2 I’d get lost in the free world and forget doing the missions 😂
I love this guy 😅 keep up the great content, man. ❤
😂😂😂😂
Bro, you smoke good stuff.
7 f/per/sec on an 87 lawnmower. That's why my wife left me. Great humour, great channel
I advise to get a few of these "old" consoles to have in reserve along with games you love!
Enchanted arms for ps3 was a underdog
Im still playing fallout 3 and midnight club la
I went to my local game and got Jak and Daxter collection and Uncharted 1 can’t wait to play after the Sly collection
Good advice. Another great PS3 video.
