@maskerua6779 95 percent of people care. From the comment above I was expecting the camaro to stomp the others but instead it just barely caught up. Most of the safety and even performance of street cars comes from the launch to get out of the way. Chevy got wooped from light to light distance.

TLX Type S is the biggest disappointment out of Acura since they originally discontinued the Type S back in 2008. It's such a damn shame as its a gorgeous looking car, but it's a porker with size/weight class.

Honestly I'd rather see the Type S lose like 300-500 lbs. 4200 lbs is insane to me tbh. Otherwise I'd probably take the Genesis over the TLX. Plus losing weight would help the car in more places than just speed.

Fun race as always! Just want to clear the air that my car is not tuned, there is currently no public tune available yet for the Type S platform. We'll see about next time though 👀 Also, no headers or any other engine mods. Just a downpipe and straight through exhaust.
I was questioning that when he stated only like a 20hp gain from a tune, that would be a weak ass tune for twins. So just headers and exhaust?

The LT1 has 245 all season tires. You swap the rear wheels for 9.5” or wider wheels and wrap in 275+ tires Michelin or Nittos and traction is no longer an issue. Car is cheap and not a fit for everyone’s lifestyle… but 455 hp N/A from 6.2L with 6M or A10, RWD 3700 lbs, Alpha platform, translates to a tremendously satisfying, visceral, and fun ride. A properly “tired” LT1 woulda blasted both these cars out of the hole and made it even more embarrassing by the end. Sam let’s get the LT1 vs Mustang GT vs Scat Challenger or Charger. All murica would be awesome!!

Of course, this is still more of a fair comparison for the Acura and Genesis. The camaro will always pull on the top with its superior TQ/PWR. The curve is also more steady, shifts are quicker. It’s an actual sports car, genesis is a tuned for a commuter, shifts are mechanically forgiving, even in sport mode. A tune would refine it a bit

Great race. And as always, Sam's enthusiasm makes all the videos fun to watch. Interesting race to say the least but it ended up more between the Acura and Genesis. The Camaro in the beginning, seemed like it was trying to see how the other two were going to match up, lol! Nevertheless, great race. 👍

This is pretty much the same results I had once in my Chevy SS Sedan (LS3) and an Audi RS3. On the highway, those big V8s take in a lot of air and can stretch their legs. The Acura and the Genesis have the initial advantage, which is what sometimes makes them more fun on the streets. By the time the V8s get into their power band, you've already broken a few laws.

It was such a rare car and a little anonymous that when I would crank it up at a gas station, I'd sense at least 3 necks turning in my direction as no one was expecting a Corvette V8 (LS3) bark coming from what looks like a rental car special. The only reason I was ok with giving mine up was that it was an automatic and I wanted a manual before electric vehicles make them all but scarce. There might be a good chance of you finding a well cared for used version, as it was generally a car bought by enthusiasts that took care of the car (mine had 37K miles on it after 6 years). The manual version is a little more rare, but would be great fun.

He kept trying to keep up, but just didn't have the power to keep up. He was quick up to about 60, but then I would walk him to anything above those speeds. I'm sure your experience with Forza may tell you otherwise, but considering I have dashcam footage of the poor little RS3 going down, might be a good time to put down the video game controller and step outside every once in a while.

I liked the car choices Sam. The Type S is a real looker with those wheels. The G70 was ahead of the Camaro for 9/10th of the race, so it'll take any stop light race. Tune a G70 and it's ridiculous fast.
Yea idk if we watched the same race, that camaro put buses on both cars. Gonna take more than a tune to hang with a stock 10 speed LT1.

@@dnegel9546 The gauge cluster, the HUD received updates, the infotainment screen is now larger (wider) and running new software. It’s a facelift, not a new car and yes technically things got updated in respect to 2022 vehicles, the larger screen is a big deal.

The 2022 and earlier Civic Type R certainly punches above its "weight class", but with FWD MT, a 0.5s slower 0-60 and 0.4s slower 1/4 than the G70 3.3T it wouldn't be much of a race. Perhaps the 2023 with 315hp would made it interesting.

I have zero interest in the Camaro for me personally. Between the Type S and the G70, I would choose the Type S despite the fact that it's a slower car. I love the styling of it inside and out and I'm certain that it would be plenty fast for me.
If the TLX had as much interior space as a Honda Accord I would get it, but it doesn't even come close

And the TLX is tuned on top of that has a 20 HP gain and still lost lol. I would still buy it over all those cars. As a 2017 Acura TLX owner the Type S is probably gonna be my next car. There are other things that matter more than speed. It's not like I'm gonna be racing people. With a Type S I will still be able to smoke more than 80% of the cars on the road if I need to. It's still a fast car but the slowest in its class. I bet you it's also the most reliable and good looking along with the Lexus

Absolutely, reliability > everything when it comes to Honda/Acura. Launch mode in the Type S only let's you get to 2000rpm, but I can use it non stop at every light vs my bosses Alpina B8 that needs a while to cool off before he can use his launch mode again.
Even back when I had my 03 Acura TL Type-S that didn’t support it like they should but for it to only have 260hp and you put a cold air intakes on it. That car was pretty quick. I don’t understand why they didn’t make the TLX lighter. It would either beat the Genesis or be right there with it with the current hp
Acura needs to release a TLX Type R to redeem itself. I’m thinking a high performance version (twin turbo) of the 3.0L to the tune of 480 hp, shed 200 pounds, and price it in the $68k range..

I had 2017 Camaro SS with the same 6.2L and I wish I never got rid of it! Late summer of 2022 I test drove a Kia Stinger GT2 (basically the same as the Genesis from what I'm aware of) and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Very impressive tbh, but it certainly just did not compare to overall power/performance of the Camaro. Sure, the AWD helps massively from a dead stop, but even most Stinger owners admit the RWD version is faster and sportier than the AWD. Anyways, point I'm making is these drag races are fun as heck but are so far away from being practical as far as real world performance. If your looking for the best car for fun and fast, camaro all day. If you need a functional back seat though, look elsewhere 😆
I'd have to disagree with you. The genesis is faster than the Kia but to add to that the interior is much nicer as well it's not even a comparison and with a simple plug and play tune the g70 walks scat packs and Camaros all day more comfortable as well

Yes of course with tune/aftermarket pieces etc, ANY car can be faster than stock but that's not what I had in front of me at the time. I haven't driven a G70 so I can't comment on that. All I know is I didn't get the pure performance in the Stinger that I did with my old SS. This summer I actually picked up another '23 SS 1LE and it's just like I remember... EXCEPT I don't like the Recaro seats in it. Guess my f** @$$ just doesn't like getting squeezed all that much 😂
Again, I actually think all 3 of these cars in video are awesome in their own right. Pick whichever you like the most. Or better yet, pick the one you can get the best deal for!

@scaf_007vs3 interesting to hear you do t have snow chains or tire socks? Granted, you can't drive as fast with these, but you can definitely drive normal speeds during the winter. Sometimes, I'll even find a secure lake and do some drifts. wanna be careful that the ice is fully frozen, tho I usually have to plan that for a few days!

I didn’t think the Acura would do so well, especially when it weighs 4,200+ pounds. That slight tune only added little bit of power but it did wonders for it.
Slight tune, exhaust + headers. That's a lot compared to a JB4 tune on the G70 which takes it to 400hp with also a simple tune.

The weak top end of the TLX is such a head scratcher. It's still my favorite of the bunch though lol
It's the weight. 4200+lb is almost 300lb heavier than the G70 3.3T AWD. It's like carrying two lightweight passengers the whole time.
It wasnt that bad.. normally they get murdered by g70s.. the downpipe and exhaust really woke her up
@@davidpaulin I also think the TLX got a little bit faster after the break-in period. This seems to be the case for a lot of Honda's in recent years. They "open up" a lot more than other brands after the break-in period.
@@iforyou that's true, C&D found the Accord got dramatically quicker after break-in. New it did 60 in 5.7 sec, and after break-in it did 5.3 sec. Quarter-mile was 14.3 @100mph, and after break-in was 13.9 @104mph.
This is nearly a stock for stock comparison besides the exhaust. No tune on the car.
The G70 looks sooo good. And it's fast as fuck. Best car

As a 10 speed LT1 owner I can tell you those other two choices really are just fancy commuter cars vs a real muscle car. They’d probably lose to the v6 & 2.0 turbo 6th gen Camaros too

I wonder why the Type-S is so much heavier than the Genesis. Both are around the same dimensions, AWD, and the Genesis has a bigger engine by 300cc. That 300 pound difference is a mystery to me.
It’s the extra sheet metal to make it longer so it could mimic the look of a longitudinal mounted rear wheel drive vehicle even though it’s a front wheel drive based transverse mounted engine. If you look under the hood you’ll see a lot of empty space between the firewall and where the engine is.

That TLX type s looks great definitely one of the best looking sedans, ashame it didn't get more power. For the MSRP though it's priced against the 4 cylinder cars from the Germans not bad for the price.

Sam, you should try to find someone with a JB4 Stinger 3.3tt awd... I have a Stinger 3.3 awd with a jb4 (I only run map 1 or map 2) and I'm curious to see how it would stack up against some of these cars. You could do runs with the tune on and runs without. Its only 1 click to change between different maps and stock. I've seen your other videos with stock 3.3 Stingers. Always makes me curious how much of a difference map1 or 2 looks like. You can feel it, that's for sure.
I have the JB4 on the G70, Sam likes to run without it on, maybe next time I go he will be down with me running it, map2 to map 4
It would be neck and neck with the Camaro. My buddy’s gt2 with just a tune ran 12.4 at 115 mph

Coming from the perspective of living in the Pacific NW where it seems to rain 8 months a year, I wouldn't even consider a 2WD vehicle. I also prefer a vehicle to be quick from 0-speed limit, I'm not too interested in vehicles that really start hooking up during extra-legal speeds. The TLX Type S is appealing to me!

Samething can be said about the camaro cam/heads will put you well over 500hp on a N/A. The turbo cars both had an advantage over the camaro.

All nice cars, the Genesis and Acura way better daily drivers and more luxurious but what a performance bang for the buck the LT1 is, put some stickier tires on it for better launches and watch out

Man, I miss Pontiac, had Bonneville, gtp, trans Ams. But after owning a Kia stinger, it's no comparison really. The Stinger is sooooo much nicer than any Pontiac and love my ol Pontiac's

Cheapest for a reason, the interior is very cheap. Drive one, then sit in either the Acura or the G70 (G70 is more luxurious by comparison, stitch work, etc).

Have you done Camaro LT1 vs Mustang GT? Maybe even have a Challenger Scat Pack for a 3 way American Muscle race. I wish I was close to Canada, I would definitely bring my 20 Mustang GT 10 speed to race it.

For the price and performance you get, the LT1 Camaro is the best bang for your buck, it's basically a V6 body and interior with a V8 motor, not as nice as the SS but more affordable. Wider tires would have helped here big time, at least put some 305's on there.
Camaro was a foregone conclusion, but the TLX vs G70 contest was interesting. That tune makes the Type S a much more compelling option. Honda/Acura needs to take note and up their game accordingly, so we can get that performance with a warranty. (Edit: just read the owner's comment re: downpipe & exhaust only. Even better news, as Acura could certainly bump the boost up a tad, etc.)

How is doing those mods thus voiding the powertrain warranty and still getting walked by a g70 a compelling option?
@@Ih8chew he only needs a jb4 to walk any of them, type s comes detuned from factory, and jb4 only gives 3psi, the engine is built to hold alot of power, just acura is really carefull, unlike other brands...

I think the TLX is a great looking car, but I'd take the G70 all day, any day. I've owned a few Camaros over the years and love them, but at middle age, I'll take the luxury sedans. Truth be told, the Stinger would be my pick.

I hated the 10 speed in that Acura. Always had to use the paddles. The shift programming for DD couldn’t take. I’m surprised how good the Camaro’s is. Got a 1LE after

Not out of the hole unfortunately but top end for sure. These turbo 6's are vicious out of the hole, especially with awd.
Soo,..in real world street situations you're going to be at a disadvantage against these boosted gremlins unless you're on the highway.
Stall is an option that can help the Camaro but not sure about the 10 speed on the GM side. I know there is a couple for the 10R80 in the Mustang.

@@SirtubalotTX while it's true awd and modern autos are amazing...the Camaro doesn't even need a stall, it just needs better tires. The stock all season Goodyear's are a 20+ year old design...that sucked when it was new. With better rubber it would dominate from any speed. The 0-60 with rubber that doesn't suck is around 4 flat on the Camaro
@@tommyistommy That's a great point and I don't disagree but I do have much wheel time in a 10-speed Camaro SS and on the street, I can't concur . I've been beaten too many times by these types of cars from a dig, and with different rubbers.. especially when conditions aren't just right or any amount of moisture on the road. I also had some time in a stalled 10R80 and it is awesome. Inately, these 10 speed autos are better than ever doe to wider ratio spreads and shorter initial gears but boosted motors can typically get the torque down lower and faster and that's just the way it is.
@@SirtubalotTX interesting, maybe the 6th gen is harder to launch than I remember. I haven't driven one in a few years, I have a 4th gen with 243 heads and a very mild cam t56 car, it launches easily and consistently. I can cut 1.8 60 foots on modern street tires (Potenza Sport). But solid axles and softer suspension = always easier to launch.
I couldn't even imagine how a stalled 10 speed would shift, they perform amazing (once the revs are up) stock, the stall with a street radial would be insane.

I can't tell you how awesome a stall is on the 10R80. Not sure what experience you have with stalls on any car but it really is extra crazy on a 10 speed.

@@henryquevlogsss2108 by a little bit, yeah. They're lighter than the Stingers so they have the advantage althroughout in any race between the two. Stinger is the more practical option. And in my opinion superior styling. But it's not quicker than its luxury brand brother
