    I have a baking tip for David. New to me anyway. Learned from TH-camr Mindy in the Making. When baking muffins, heat the oven to 425° and bake for 4 minutes. Open oven door to let out some heat, reset oven to 350°. Bake for 18-20 mins. The high heat at start of baking gives the muffins a higher lift/better crown. I also add the large finishing sugar crystals to the top of the raw muffins and it gives the muffin a nice crunch. You don’t need to use very much. This is my new way to bake muffins. I hope David will give it a try. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰

    David’s bread was beautiful. One loaf of bread should be plenty for lunch for those kids. People need to take into consideration that it’s a lot more nutritious than the store-bought ones. I loved the bag that Gracie made and I hope she makes them for her siblings. I loved how excited the kids were when the chicks were hatching

    I'm halfway through this video and I have to comment now to say I so enjoy your videos. This one in particular makes me smile. We homeschool also and use teaching texts. We love it! We also utilize board games for math or language arts. I love the flexibility and have become so much more relaxed in our homeschool approach. Snuggling my toddler and reading through the stack of books she brought me is a blessing.
    Between lessons and chores I'm in the kitchen. I often joke that it's my office. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thank you for sharing a bit of your day. God bless you.

    What a sweet sweet family!! Jessica, you are doing a great job with your children!! I homeschooled our children, who are grown now, one still in college. I know the effort that goes into the planning, the cooking and gardening. You are providing such a wonderful atmosphere for them all. So from one mama to another, just want to say great job! It's not too often we hear that and I think you surely do deserve it!! God bless you and your sweet family!

    Thank you for all you do. I loved seeing a look into your homeschool/daily morning life. I’m so impressed with how independently and peacefully your children worked. Your quiet demeanor and patience is very inspiring. I am a Christian homeschooling mama and share your same values but I definitely have lots of room to grow in my patience and gentleness. Thank you for your example. I would love to know more about how you help your children set goals and how you set goals together. We use a Charlotte Mason style mostly and my kids :10,7,5 and 2 are pretty dependent on me. I love seeing how empowered your children are to set about their work. I see this happening a bit with my oldest but often have lots of bad attitudes and distraction happening instead of peaceful independence.... just an idea for a video;)
    Have a blessed day!💛

    How would you describe your homeschooling style? I am homeschooling for kindergarten this year and I ended up being much more laid back than I thought I was going to. I realized that life experiences like walks, baking, cooking, sewing are as valuable as reading and math

      On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being radical unschooling and 10 being replication of public school, we are probably somewhere around a 4. I purchase curriculum and we go through seasons of assigned work, but during busy seasons where assigned work is difficult to manage we swing more toward unschooling. Lately what works for us is having the children set goals every morning. I expect them to set some goals from the curricula of their choice as well as goals concerning their hobbies. This works really well for us in this season. Every season is definitely different though!

      I'm kind of the same as Jessica. I find once more kids are added to the family, one relaxes much more. Add homesteading on top of that and yes....probably be 4-5 for me

    • @kathycrawford8777
      @kathycrawford8777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My children are now grown, the youngest being 30, and all 5 kids look back at their homeschooling years fondly. We were a homesteading family. We raised and showed rabbits, hogs, chickens and dairy goats through 4H. We also had a large garden. I am a spinner and a weaver so we also raised several sheep for wool. Watching your journey brings back so many memories. These are the best times in your life.
