- Excited to have been able to find a solution for our customer. Upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 but still could not get the power light to turn off. Here we show you how we solved this mystery and once again a very happy customer at PC 911 Miami!

unchecking the fast startup didn't solve my problem :/
Mohammad Bilani firstly you should instal driver intel.
The problem was because of windows updates that werent able to be installed properly on my laptop...i have hidden them and stopped them and now my laptop turns off 100% fine....Thanks God

Great. That issue troubled me too. I had this issue on a desktop computer. Computer wouldn't shutdown completely. Everything turned off but power light stayed on. If I cut the power and put it back on, computer won't start. I had to clear CMOS and start again. But shutdown issue would happen again. The Fast Startup setting was the culprit.

It's actually so incompetent and stupid of Windows in allowing this feature. Caused me so many issues in trying to fix it. Had to bring it to the repair shop and they couldn't do anything, but a TH-cam video could. Thumbs up.

I didn't expect that.
I turned of Hibernation shutdown, but there is 1 thing that bothers me. On cold shutdown my mouse, which is connected to laptop every time, has lights on all the time. Why is that?

Edit: Nvm now it refuses to shut down after im done using it. Itll only shutdown properly if i turn it on and turn it off without doing anything else.
Just stays w the stupid light on...
Go to Device manager -> System Devices -> Intel Management Engine Interface . Press properties and then Power Management. Uncheck ,,Allow the computer to turn off.." . Worked for me

Thank you. I know this is old but I got a computer from work that is windows 10. This irritated me to no end until I found this video.
So...I have a similar issue, except...mine seems to happen when I try to put it into sleep or hibernate mode. It shuts down fine. I have also noticed if I have been away from my computer too long (30 minutes is what I had for putting my computer to sleep if it was unattended plugged in), and the same thing happens. Hard drive light is out, screen is black, but there is no way to wake it up besides force shutting it down.
So...What would that issue be caused by?
Hi, I have similar issue but mine is kinda different, it doesn't turn on at all, and the light stays on.
i am having the same issue , light is continuously blinking , but laptop could not turn on while plug off , when i connect it to power, it turn on and battery shows 90% always
I had unchecked that option and it worked once but then again when I tried to turn my laptop off it didn’t shut down completely.
Light pb is fixed but when i do restart the laptop doesnt restart and im clicking the power button and it wont work what should i do

Nitro 5, on battery you can turn off the feature on Acer Quick Access app. But on plug, it will stay on and so this method didn't work

but when i sleep the pc ,power supply,fans, are turnning off,,and sleep working fine

But mine doesn't have that "fast start-up" option and initially while you were explaining, you shut the system down, you pressed the power button and the lights went off, my issue is, my lights don't go off at all, no matter how long I press the button! What do I do?

i got a question for you, so in your case the light just stays on. how could you fix one that is completely backward . in my case the light will turn on when i shut off the laptop and turn off when i turn on the laptop.(no light when on, Light when off). before this had actually happen the light worked fin (off when off and on when on).

I have the opposite. After purchasing refurbished Windows 10 computer on Amazon trade out the webcam work fine except no indicator light. Is there any fix for that other than what I'm doing now resetting the computer to send it back in for a different one with more problems I assume

It's not going to work if you don't got ssd... I
Reason why light don't off is bcz hdd got it sectors reallocated somehow by manually defrag or auto defrag.. And it fu cked up system boot files sector.. Just defrag c drive completely or renistall windows.. It will work... Only if you got hdd....

When i select the "choose what the power does" option it doesn't give me the list you have which includes the fast startup. I only have sleep and lock. Is there a way to get the full list of options?

My pc did this tonight when i shut it down but the laptop wont even turn back on now.. i tried several times but it just won't turn on When i push the start up button. Sadly theres no way to even take out the battery on my MSI

This fix did not work for me. What I had to do was change bios setting to NON UEFI (Legacy) settings and reinstall windows 10. (4/14/21)

unchecking the fast startup solve shutdown in 15-22 sec but when I start my laptop the desktop open in 3 minutes, if I check the fast startup the desktop open in 42 sec but the shutdown is again 3 minutes???

Facing same problem on ASUS Laptop which has Dual Boot (Ubuntu and Windows 10). Even after trying this setting, I don't see the issue fixed. After waiting for 5 minutes after Windows 10 OS, it gives me BSoD with stop code - DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE.
You have no idea how mutch time I spend to fix this and I was close I know it it has to do something with the power options but it didn't click to me thank you for this God Bless You

Unfortunately the "Turn on Fast Startup" option is not working because is permanently greyed out in my Windows 10 settings, so wasn't able to disable it.
Hence your solution isn' t working for me!
