Thanks for watching I have so many more videos to come and van conversion live streams as well so please subscribe for all my tips ideas and chilled vanlife hangouts. th-cam.com/channels/x8wjLLGTz-vFF-LWZSdzUw.html?view_as=subscriber
Oh mate there the best for just getting away . And costing as much as staying home . This has been a ongoing passion of mine for years Iv built a few and I love it . I should have started TH-cam with this kind of stuff but I was trying to be all clever and that’s just not me . This is me
in the uk its a rooter in the us its a rowter , funny the things we say , but most get a laugh at the things i say lol , yer i like the display its kind just enough
We have unlimited on our phones as well but the thing is you can’t leave your phone in the van for WiFi for the cctv and things like that . Also we have been in places that the phones have had no signal but the router has . Abs that’s confusing
@@UrbanVanlife Ah yes never thought about the CCTV, as I dont have any so yep makes great sence. I think you need to be using the van allot for it to be cost affective. Love the vlogs keep them up 😀
Hiya, have you got an update on this? Are you still using the same one three years on? I'm very interested to hear your experiences with it - with my home broadband wanting to increase prices by a silly amount, and me wanting to travel more I am considering ditching the fixed home broadband in favour of a mobile router I can just take with me in the van! Also did you ever do a follow up to see how one works with an external antenna? Asking as it's not in the playlist and I'm really interested in your experiences with using it. 😃
Hi there, yes we are still using it and it is going strong, we transferred it over to the new van build and haven’t had any issues at all, hope this helps
I'm in exactly the same boat with a requirement for affordable, portable wifi that can also substitute for landline BT nternet at home that is no longer competitive Thanks for the video!
Hi just starting subscribing, great content btw. Quick question, I also have the same router and find it great as well. But what aerial do you use? Thanks.
Bit late to the party, I am looking to go “off grid” occasionally in my van, would this work in Scottish highlands etc like would I get signal at all? I would be with O2! Mainly for there free EU roaming
02 is totally usless in Scotland we had it and man it’s so so bad . We swapped over to EE and it was much better . And we are now running starlink trough the same router . The router is still brilliant
@@UrbanVanlife brilliant response!! Thanks for the quick time, so would you recommend going with EE? Alongside this would you recommend this modem or go for the 5G newer one? I looked at star link but with the constant mains connection I was steered away at the minute… I have a feeling that could change I will be working from my van 5 days a week. You’ve earned yourself a subscription btw!
@willmclean8743 thanks buddy . I think EE are much better in Scotland but still not amazing it depends where you are . Kind of like finding a virgin in night club there there but far and few . We are about to do a video on a conversion of starlink to 12v . It only needs 48v to work the system but we are waiting for 1 more part to come . And you don’t need to do any thing to the dish or cables it’s all just plug in then goes in to your own router . I don’t know if the new ones any good we have not used it but I’d guess it would be as it’s new tech . I can say ours works perfect and never let us down . When we have signal
@@UrbanVanlife perfect, brilliant response. So when you say you couldn’t get signal with the router, where did you find yourself? Where were those dead spots! I will be travelling but working so would always need a minimum of 5mb download/upload. Star link is a real thought… so may wait for your video! I feel I’d be away from mains plugs for 3-4 days a week so this is where I feel I’d run into issues with power etc. I have 2 100w Solar panels, but may as well be stickers in Scotland 😆
whoops Mr.s Butterfingers. lol An the Rhino lens is awesome Neil! And I've still got those new car "I wanna van" cravings! But I cannot do it, cannot do it, cannot do it...at least for now. I love the changing lights you've got going.
i was going to take out the butter fingers but thought what the heck leave it in , and yer the rhino is super wide , and on a more serious point , BUY A VAN BUY A VAN BUY A VAN DO IT DI IT DO IT , YOU NEED ONE FOR FAMILY OUTINGS and jonus wuld have so much fun out campin as well . last thing your the only person to notice the lights so far , you win a sticker when they come
Thank you so much . Honestly when ppl say things like this it was worth all the stress of not knowing a thing about them to recerching everything and building my own . ♥️♥️thank you Suzy
Hi,thinking of getting 1 of these for my house 4g is better than broadband,in certain area,do you knowif you get better speeds on this netgear than your phone on 4g.thanks
Hi Joleeen These are small, portable (they are designed to be carried around in an exec's briefcase) and have a battery so that they can be used in airports, cafe's etc. That makes them very expensive. For a home, and a van too, consider a 4G domestic router. They are a third of the price and a decent one will give you the same spec., or better. I would recommend getting one with external antenna sockets so that you can add an external antenna if your in house signal is poor. TP Link and Huawei make excellent quality units. I hope this is helpful.
Can you use this in place of a dataplan from your wireless phone service (verizon, at&t, etc.)? want to cancel my dataplan from my phone company because its just too expensive and just use wifi instead since i almost never call people and i only txt or message people
@@zulfphotography yes its exactly the same as you described there but it's just a dedicated wifi, i think the signal is stronger than your cell cos it's only a data and not calls, iv have hive streamed from one of these and it works fine for streaming for what I neede3d it for as well
like i explained in the video your service provider will give you a sim card that goes in teh unit and you pay a monthly subscription the same as you would on a mobile phone , but depends on the level os internet you want reallly depends on what you pay , hope this helps
the netgear just gives us wifi in the van , from the wifi we can face time and im sure if we took the sim out of the unit we could call , but its mainly used for wifi mate
Yes, if you use a Voip phone plugged into it. That will need a contract though. You might be better sticking to VOIP (Whatsap and others) on your mobile phone but link your phone to this router for a better signal. (Use the phones Wi-Fi settings).
Wtf ive backtracked on youre vlogs so much . Youre face is baldy 😀 . You said the total truth there neil . Get a van and get out there and get a life . Dunno if you suit shaved or a beard 😃 think emma should tell you to go for trimmed stubble lol

I actually love vans. Had one as a kid and traveled with my parents. This is great stuff Neal and I think you’ve inspired me to get a van

I use my IPONE 11 as a hotspot and that streams a treat and no extra cost as I have unlimited data.

Yes you could just get a data plan and pop in the sim it works just the same . You could TOTALY do that
Thats very cool i didn't even now something like that was available. Thanks for sharing
there quite a common thing in the UK , and there is plenty of companies and payment plans you can choose from. thanks for watching

People lived in vans way before the mile phone, wifi or internet and people still do...
Have you used it in europe and how did it perform. Thanks for the upload
Hi Brendan, we haven’t had chance to get to Europe yet but as soon as we do we’ll let you know!
I wanna get a van when I'm older but what about security couldn't someone break in?
they could but they can also break in to any thing i guess ,, iv now fitted cctv in the van now as well which helps

Hi
Good video
Thank you 🤩
Dan and mazzy would save a fortune in diesel with that. Instead of driving awe day to get a signal
They don’t need to as much now they have that rural internet WiFi Jobby
@@UrbanVanlife brilliant. Big cup final tomorrow. Hope Dan gets a signal. Cheers

@NoNameYetyer its just a wifi router thats mobile
@NoNameYet to be honest i wish id have gone with a diffrent network than my own network .
your van is rather cool, i think
Thanks, appreciate that, it work well for us!
dose it take an external antenna
Yes mate it dose . We have a antenna connected to ours
Can it run off 12V?
yer mate it charges via usb
You dont need areials just put yout mifi near a window, its been proven they dont make any difference.
Weird that cos we have been to plenty of places where connecting the aerial has made the difference from no signal to a few bars so it dose work
Speed test on router?
24mps download and 18 upload sir . Enough to watch all them funky sights your caught on .
