Having lived in both Canada and Australia, I know Canadian phone companies like to give the excuse of covering a large area while catering to a small population as the reason for their exorbitant rates, as you explained. But Australia has a very similar ratio of population to geographical size and our phone plans are nowhere near as expensive. Perhaps there are more aspects to this argument that I am unaware of but I am very suspicious of their reasoning. Instinctively I suspect that the real reason Canadian phone plans are amongst the most expensive on Earth is a lack or regulation in the industry. Basically, they're ripping you off simply because they can.

Yes the French lesson is the best thing ever! Now here’s some information for you: there is no such thing as wireless fidelity. Wi-Fi was named that because it does rhyme with hi-fi which is high fidelity but Wi-Fi has nothing to do with fidelity. It is literally just what someone named it for fun. It is just a way to refer to wireless connectivity.
Maple 🍁 Syrup really is a Canadian treasure. Much like you two 🧡. Since you are back home maybe you could show us the great things about where you live, we would love it 👍🏻 Dom, you sounded quite sinister in your French lesson this week...I imagined you twirling your mustache while you were taping that..oui, oui😉 Have a great week, you two!! Hugs 🧡🧡
Since I started my French lessons via internet I learnt that it's either "quel"" or "quelle" depending on the noun's gender. Therefore you have to know the gender of the noun to form a correct scentence. Would be no problem for me since there is the exact same rule in my natiive language (German). If it weren't for the words that have different articles in the two languages. "Le soleil" (m) is "die Sonne" (f), the sun in English. "La lune" (m) is "Der Mond" (m), the moon in English. "Les chaussures"(f!) you have to learn by heart, even in German "die Schuhe" (m), the shoes in English. It's really confusing sometimes. ^^
Oh really? That's interesting. Didn't know German that the same. Let's make a deal: every week, you translate our French Lesson into German so we can learn German too. Deal?!

I just laugh and laugh- you two are so funny in my favorite goofy way! But really now, other than TH doughnuts on the way back from hockey practice (for you, your enfant, or your grandmere) how can Tim Horton and the Beibs compare to all the incredible mountains, rivers, - LAND in Canada? PEI? Whistler? The Sunshine Coast? The far North? Or the cities - Quebec or Van? Or for that matter the Dinosaur Museum near Calgary? And what about the incroyable Native Peoples? Such intelligent stewards of culture, medicines, history, land, and small museums... yes, we lived up there with you for awhile🙂💕. It is a little cold and dark from Jan to March- but we miss you all and ALWAYS say hello to the Canadian Geese when they fly by.. “see you at home soon, eh?”
Wait, when I was in France, they called it "Le Weefeee". (spelled "le wifi" of course.) So, does that mean it's pronounced closer to the Hinglish in Kaybec? Kind of like, "Le Toaster" and "Le Chainsaw"?
@@vanlifesagas I am surprised the Frenche government allows it. I am sure that if I were born in France, my parents would not have been allowed to call me John. On any official documents.
Thank you for sharing! How did you find your cell service while traveling in western Canada?? In our experience Rogers isn’t as strong as TELUS especially in remote areas. Rogers is great in the cities, but not good at all in the rural areas 😬
Nice video and very useful info! I'm always wondering how vanlifers who travel between for instance EU countries handle the phone and internet issue. Do you have any idea?
I think the providers in EU countries have deals for European coverage. At least, that would make more sense than splitting the service between countries.
I've just started using 100GB of data and pay £34 a month for that, I was particularly interested in hearing how you use your data as I was worried about running out of data myself, after hearing how you use it it was a load of my mind.
I literally was laughing so hard when I looked up my home area on the map. Cell towers not showing up at all, ones they show were not cell towers at all & a cell tower on a pile of rocks out in the water. Nope I don't think I will rely on their info. Always compare them to another just in case.
One of good sides of living in Russia - you can get unlimited LTE for $4-5 per month without roaming. One more option - jump to latest iPad with Cellular and simply put Sim card into device.
Another Van-tastic video. Funny, fun to watch and very informative. Clear concise and full of useful information. It's so great to have the Canadian information.
Justin bieber made the list and not celine dion? Yes I am from Newfoundland, central area. It is well worth the ferry trip and could even be talked into cooking you a newfield jigs dinner, with pop tarts for dessert.😁
Actually, Dom added this warning section without telling me and I’m pretty sure there is a bit of sarcasm in there. Ha ha Ha, of course Céline Dion is a national treasure. She’s probably a global treasure.
I would love to have something like those nomad telecom in Germany. I don’t have a van yet but my static internet in the center of Berlin is hell since 3 weeks. Not one zoom call possible.
Merci beaucoup! My husband and I went camping last week and had poor wifi service. I am an artist and a graphic designer and I teach online. On the first day we got there I was able to hotspot my iPhone, but on the last three days my bars were very low, so we had no choice but to bleme it on the trees and the rain. That being the case, we were trying to figure out if there was a way to boost our power so we can enjoy Michigan’s rugged outdoors while I work online. Your tips were very helpful, I found weBoost Drive on Amazon! Our next trip is going to be so much better! Great tutorial! Thanks!
Ohhh that is so personal. We love our Mac computers because we can put everything in the cloud and share what's on our phone and iPad, but it's totally personal.
In the States, I use Tmobile with unlimited 4G LTE phone data but only a 3g hotspot unless I pay extra; even then it's limited to 20gb/month. I found an app/program called PdaNet+ that turns your phone into a hotspot but hides the fact that you're using your phones 4G LTE with the hotspot. I use about 300gb/month with no issue and great speed on my laptop. It's definitely in a gray area, so don't tell your provider.
If you think Wi-Fi is expensive in Canada, you’d bê horrified if you knew how much we pay here in Brazil. And the Portuguese lesson “Qual é a senha do Wi-Fi?”
@@vanlifesagas Well, here the cell phone / wifi plans are very complicated to set up. On the link below you'll find a 50GB plan for BRL 165 (CAD 40). But it's actually 25GB. We use a removable portable modem which is charged by the 12 battery of the motorhome. We use it in combination with a roof antenna which greatly improves 4G or 5G reception. On top of that, this solution makes it possible to capture a wifi from café/campsite and redistribute it on the interbal wifi from the van. Here is a link to the solution we bought and installed. www.motorhomewifi.com/catalog/5g/

Thanks friend! Truly appreciate the love. See you every Sunday!
My wife and I are in Ontario. be our friends please !! Love the content as always
We are already your friends guys!
Très utile comme vidéo! Merci :)
Avec plaisir! Merci beaucoup :)
How do we find your music to download?? Love it , want to listen to it on the road traveling with our RV ???
All on Musicbed. We have a yearly subscription and buy our music there. Let's encourage local artists.
Ce vidéo a surement sauver ma vie haha! Merci beaucoup!
Ah ben avec plaisir :)
Of course, we have other national treasures. I think Dom was being a little sarcastic here. He doesn't like Bieber at all. Haha.
Wait, when I was in France, they called it "Le Weefeee". (spelled "le wifi" of course.) So, does that mean it's pronounced closer to the Hinglish in Kaybec? Kind of like, "Le Toaster" and "Le Chainsaw"?
Yes :)
Yup! You got it! French (France) people will see weefee. In Québec (Canada), we'll say wifi.
@@vanlifesagas Probably has to do with L'Académie française not wanting any words to sound remotely like English. Just a theory.
Honeslty, it wasn't the bad. When our Rogers wasn't strong, people with us who at Telus or Bell didn't have much more either.
Nice video and very useful info! I'm always wondering how vanlifers who travel between for instance EU countries handle the phone and internet issue. Do you have any idea?
I think the providers in EU countries have deals for European coverage. At least, that would make more sense than splitting the service between countries.
❤️ You guys are so funny
Ahh thanks Sinéad 😁
I've just started using 100GB of data and pay £34 a month for that, I was particularly interested in hearing how you use your data as I was worried about running out of data myself, after hearing how you use it it was a load of my mind.
I will shoot an update on data usage soon.
Another technique I use on the road is to pre-plan pretty locations near cell towers using the website cellmapper.net
Ohhh that's a good one! We do use that app a lot. Thanks Kevin!
EXCUSE ME! Did you say $4-5?
Vanlife Sagas yes, unlimited LTE
Another Van-tastic video. Funny, fun to watch and very informative. Clear concise and full of useful information. It's so great to have the Canadian information.
Canada man. We have our own version of everything. Mah!
What! How come? That's horrible. How do you work?
You two are so entertaining! Marie if FUNNY
I guess you should create series of videos “Learning French with Marie and Dom”
Oh gosh. Dom has been bugging me to do that. We might have to now.
@@vanlifesagas There is Coffee Break French.
For a moment I thought you were going to mimic Predator: "Who is your Wi-Fi? Aaargghh!!
Hahah what? Please send reference.

Great video! Have you got a website / email? I’d love to interact one Canadian to another. BTW ... Your interactions are really fun to watch.
Hi Bill. We sure do. You can reach out to us on Instagram or here: hello@vanlifesagas.com
Thanks!
Then you must try WeBoost. Seriously, it's a game changer! You won't even believe it!
Aha ! Vous êtes cool ! Je viens de tomber sur votre page.
What is the best computer to use in van?
Ohhh that is so personal. We love our Mac computers because we can put everything in the cloud and share what's on our phone and iPad, but it's totally personal.
Are those Moment cases on your phones?
They sure are! We sometimes use the little wide angle lens that we bought from Moment and we love it.
@@vanlifesagas they are pretty great and make taking photos while on the hike or traveling light very easy.
The US Verizon plan only has 15 Gs and after that it's at 60% speed. I wish I had 50Gs!
Ah that's good to know. Thanks for sharing!
Bonjour, je me demande, pour les U.S.A., est-ce que vous utilisez aussi votre cellulaire? Des conseils? :D Merci beaucoup pour les vidéos!
Really informative and funny, you've killed me with the "fisafi"... XD
Hahah FISAFI!
why can't I find Nomad telecom anywhere? i am really needing to change the Rogers infinite. It's not enough for my wifi needs either.
Hey Marcela. Reach out to them here: Email: info@nomadtelecom.ca

FIRST...❤😁❤
Woot woot! 😁
It seems that as in this video 'WiFi' has become a container word for everything that you want to do with a device online:)
:)
Oh sweet! Thanks for sharing that!
If you think Wi-Fi is expensive in Canada, you’d bê horrified if you knew how much we pay here in Brazil.
And the Portuguese lesson “Qual é a senha do Wi-Fi?”
Thanks for that Portugese lesson. But now, interested in knowing how much it is in Brazil. How much would that be?
@@vanlifesagas Well, here the cell phone / wifi plans are very complicated to set up. On the link below you'll find a 50GB plan for BRL 165 (CAD 40). But it's actually 25GB. The other 25GB is to watch movies + free WhatsApp.
But, don't forget the minimum wage in Brazil is CAD 245 / month.

Hang On! Stop the van! Don't go "any-where"! I have 3 weeks of vids to catch up on! Including today, so 2 weeks! I'll be right back!
O.K., I'm back, you can continue now. Thanx for waiting! I have to say that I am shocked after hearing what you actually have to do for work, that you were able to do it all without a Wi-Boost. Amazing!
Hahahah you're amazing Tannis! We love you xx

Voys êtes très drôles !
Merci Vincent! 😁 À dimanche prochain!
I'm officially addicted to watching you two. So love the way you both interact and present things. BTW your dad's rock too.
Running out of battery is not an option - then get two of them, and maybe some portable batteries
Absoutely!
Here is a link to the solution we bought and installed.
www.motorhomewifi.com/catalog/5g/
ohh sweet. Thanks for sharing that link. Checking it out now. Has it always worked for you?
@@vanlifesagas absolutely! With the antenna, the Faraday cage doesn’t block signals, in fact we have good receptionwherr we didn’t have any before!
Wow ok
Now I keep hearing that MIMO antennas are better than wifi extenders.
Yeah, what are those?
lol @ national treasures.. what happened to drake
I'm alllll in for Drake, but for some reason, Marie LOVES the Bieber.

That's where we live !!
