This is seriously ridiculous...I remember hearing Carnival of rust years and years and years back when I was still at university. Don't even remember who showed it to me anymore. But for weeks I kept listening to that one song over and over again bcs I just could not fathom the depth of this voice and the lyrics and the whole atmosphere of that song...then I listened to all the songs (back then there weren't that many albums) and I was in zombie mode for months because I was living in that world that those songs created. And I didn't wanna leave...
Then I forgot about the band for a long time...today, I somehow remembered "Lift", which was also a fave of mine...then I started listening to the "new" songs that I have not heard from POTF yet....I.Still.Can't.Fathom. how this music is possible...

Music should sound like whatever the artist who makes it wants it to sound like. Music is highly highly subjective, and on top of that, most of people's music tastes develop from early exposure during childhood. You can't just say all music should sound the same, then how does it remain an art form of an individual expression? Actually think about why it is that mainstream artists are popular.

To finish this story up, it was an absolute honor for me that they choose this song and that I was a part of their special day. Cheers

It took me a few seconds back in 2003,when Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Vienna played me "Late Goodbye",to know i heard something special. It was a male voice i have never heard before in my life, accompanied by the most beautiful song/instrumentals. It was the first time my head went nuts, tried to find the credits on the cover for the song. To then complete the game, and actually have pen and paper ready, because i HAD TO KNOW who the artist/band were! I went on to buy every song they had released, and befriended them on Myspace. Took me thoose first few seconds of "Late Goodbye",to become a neverending supporter. Thank you Remedy&Rockstar for making me aware of Poets Of The Fall! I might have never heard of them,if not for Max Payne 2. A game that should be remastered in my opinion,as it wont start properly with newer windows computers today. A true classic with the best soundtrack!🤘😍🤘💞

They're independent, while some shitty bands all over the world get the support of major music labels. That's the part of the answer to them being unknown.

It seems that all the emotion is coming from the singer himself. if you look at the others though, their emotions are much higher. I feel that they're singing too with so much emotion. Look at their god damn faces! We think they're just playing their instruments but they would say everything the singer is saying if they can sing too.
