I've been listening to these boys since late goodbye was being chopped to shitt by the janitor in Max Payne 2. And then the piano version and then the actual song during the end credits. And I was hooked I needed to know who the hell these guys were.
I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life. Three tours in Afghanistan. I've seen a lot of people died. I had a heinous drug addiction when I came back and found out I had no family to come home to. And the music of poets of the Fall has been there for a little under half of my life.
And I'm not too much of a man to tell anybody that a lot of their music has had me in tears.
Nobody sounds like these guys do. Nobody. Keeping up with his tone vocally is very difficult.
Now regarding this song... I believe the album version of this aka the original.. is a song of victory. This one however.. is not. This is a song of defeat.
It's the differences in the music and how he speaks the words. Humor me and listen to both of them. You'll see what I mean.

I know this comment is probably late as hell, and nobody's probably going to see it. I've never played the Allen Wake games. But I can still relate to this song in some way. I've been fighting schizophrenia and mental illness for the last 10 years. And I've been convinced I've been fighting alone, but every time my mind tells me that I'm alone I am reminded by my friends and family that they are right beside me. I have been at war with myself for a long time. But I know I am not fighting alone

Dynamics! An important resource Olli and Marko use in this version that most musicians neglect nowadays. From 3:31 to 4:08 they soften tehir playing/singing and bring the volume down, specially Olli. Then at 4:08 they hit the notes very hard to fulfill the space that the band and drums do in the original version, to bring this "crescendo" atmosphere. The details make SO much diference in music, most musicians are so used to just hit the notes in a constant level and forget about output dynamics which, for me, is the most beautiful resource in musical execution.

Do you remember standing on a broken field
White crippled wings beating the sky
The harbingers of war with their nature revealed
    And our chances flowing by
If I can let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field
When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me a reason to try
Turn the page I need to see something new
For now my innocence is torn
We cannot linger on this stunted view
    Like rabid dogs of war
I will let the memory heal
I will remember you with me on that field
When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
And we fought to believe the impossible
When I thought that I fought this war alone
We were one with our destinies entwined
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me the reason why
With no-one wearing their real face
    It's a whiteout of emotion
And I've only got my brittle bones to break the fall
When the love in letters fade
It's like moving in slow motion
And we're already too late if we arrive at all
And then we're caught up in the arms race
    An involuntary addiction
And we're shedding every value our mothers taught
So will you please show me your real face
Draw the line in the horizon
Cos I only need your name to call the reasons why I fought
When I thought that I fought this war alone
You were there by my side on the frontline
And we fought to believe the impossible
When I thought that I fought this war alone
We were one with our destinies entwined
When I thought that I fought without a cause
You gave me the reason why...

ENFIN................UNE VIDÉO SUR UN DES PLUS GRANDS GROUPES EUROPÉENS.D’AUJOURD’HUI.
MERCI FRANÇOISE ( Hardy) grâce à vous ,j’ai découvert,THE POETS OF THE FALL.

This was a great way to start the day! I love this project so much. The music, the sound, the editing - everything came together in a fantastic way to give War a new life. I’m so happy that we’ll get one of these videos each month this year!

I want to tell poets of the fall that they inspired me to finally sing. Its been a dream since I was 2 yrs old and im now in my 40's. I couldnt even sing in a car alone. Now im learning with a teacher and making music with my brother. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for that.

      That's amazing!
So I actually made a video or a music video rather with the song wave goodbye and my own clips from the Max Payne original video game. And I sent it to the management it was either the management or another promoter of sorts.. because the information is available free.. if you write them a letter you know tell the management or whatever agency it is like the promoters cuz they'll relay stuff too.. just politely tell them that you would love to get a message to the band or pick a member of the band... Say thank you use the word please and be very polite. And then after that... Do like a quadruple space and then begin your letter.
Bizarro. And let them know. I promise you you'll get a response. You really will. I sent that music video to one of the agency's I think it was part of the management team and like I don't know 12 hours later or the next day I got a very lengthy email back from Marko AND Ollie.
in addition to that music video I attached a letter that was more like a short novel. And I explained to them and I just wrote it to the band I didn't pick anybody in particular.. I just explained how my childhood was fucking whore ethic... Military enlistment at the age of 19... However the five daughters two Ex-Wives crippling PTSD from all three of my deployments and getting blown to pieces well blown up I didn't really get blown to pieces I've got some shrapnel in me though. And all the evil shit that we did up to and including killing The Afghani like the Taliban and isis. And I'll tell you something.... Pardon my language b fucked me up really bad. I came back and I lost my wife I lost all five of my daughters so I turned to the needle very quickly I was shooting heroin fentanyl and methamphetamine like my life depended on it. I died three times. saw lots of horrible shit as a drug addict. Currently I am three and a half years almost to the day in my recovery with no relapse is. And I mentioned all of that to the band. Explaining to them that I've been listening to them since I saw the janitor singing the song called lake goodbye in the second Max Payne video game. It's been two decades that I've been listening to these boys. Faithfully.
And put the music video I put the appropriate credits in there and I explained to them that I only did it for fun.. kind of like an expression in the form of art using their music and that video game. Explaining that I was not doing it for profit.
I even put the copyright with a record label the video game company and poets of the fall. And I got a very long email back. Actually still have it.
Both of them were incredibly polite and they can talk quite a bit. They told me to reach out anytime using the same method. Because there's no direct method to contact them. If there is I'm not aware of it.
I explained all of this in vivid detail to you because I'm telling you you can't reach the band and you can tell them.
Do a little research.I'll just reach out to the management give them a call or send them an e-mail and ask them if they can relay a letter in the form of email or however they wanted to the band for whomever in the band you wanted to go to. Eventually you're going to get someone that will I promise you that. I don't recall off the top of my head the email address that they used when they responded to me. Pretty sure it was the same email address through the management company.
And look at it this way bud... What have you got to lose by trying?
I'm telling you from experience. And maybe you know maybe it was random chance that I actually got a response from them.
Is it possible that it wasn't them? Sure. Anything's possible regarding digital communication.
But again..... You have nothing to lose by trying. Just be polite and you're good. Do what I didn't do... Leave your phone number in your contact information. Who knows ...Maybe they'll call you.
Thanks for reading my rant. Now... How about on your internet browser and start googling information and run with it. Don't come up with an excuse not to do it. You can come up with a million excuses not to do it. But if you really want to tell them something then you'll do it.
Keep listening to the music. Stay safe out there and God bless and good luck. 🙏

First time I hear this amazing song, was in Alan Wake. Now it's like another time and place. The place is the same, but the time feels like much, much more than ten years ago... Like events in 2009 was closer today.
Still, I miss that time for other reasons too. But the past is the past. And years later after Alan Wake, I got my first album of Poets Of The Fall (once again, as I never heard of them before, until this song), and so far I have all the albums today. Ah memories😅

Hello guys, to be honest I don't know how I met you at all, but sincerely it's the best thing that have happened to me so far in this year and in a long time.
Thank you so much for your music, it's so pure, relaxing and just make you feel in a different context, it's one of those things that makes you feel happy.
Your sound is amazing, amazing atmosphere in your presentations, all the instruments sound amazing, and my most sincere respects to Marko, one of the most controlled voices that I have ever listened to, and I love a lot of other great singers, but you are so great, for me at least.
2 or 3 months ago I did not know you, now your are probably my favorite band and one of my dreams is to see you live! Keep doing what you are doing and touching so many hearts in this world that lacks of real love, thing that doesn't happen with your music.
Thank you guys, you have made my days better
