wow....this was a very good hoya video.....such a large collection and they all look great....so many blooms and so much growth.........I have to again tell you that the editing and your narration are top notch......your before and after shots ...really makes a great video even better......you have one of my favorite channels......great work.
Ooh! Thank you. I grow orchids and was about to buy a support for my vanilla planifolia when I came across a Hoya seller. Your video is so helpful. I'm excited to choose my first two. ❤
Hi Nicole, thanks for letting us know how each Hoya smelled and blooms. I can’t believe the one that smells like Channel No. 5, amazing! I think I have that one hanging around but it is still small. I also got some of my Hoya cuttings from Yoshi. Beautiful 🤩!
Hey hon all the ones you gave me are doing great! Hoya finlaysonii has grown so much! Hoya Kerrii likes alot of water! Mine is in bloom AGAIN! I love it! It's bloom is so beautiful! It's so high up I haven't been able to smell it! 😂 great Hoya update! 😊
Your Hoya all look amazing!!!! I was also reminded again as to how much I love the looks of retusa. Underrated in my opinion. Yours looks soooo pretty!!!! Thanks for the shout out 🥰.
Omg your hojas are just beautiful and the flowers are so cute. I bought a hoja Bella and it has 3 areas with flowers. They lasted about a week. Hopefully it will bloom again. I love hojas and have about 4 so far.
I enjoyed this video! Once had a nice Hoya in bark that bloomed after two years. I have one now planted in a mix of 2/3 bark and 1/3 succulent soil and it’s under lights. It seems very happy and started putting out new growth. I don’t keep them very soggy but not totally dry either. Now I have to be patient and see how it does!
@@judycook4314 thank you ❤️❤️ Yeah it's a fine balance! They are all different so it takes some trial and error. I killed a few clippings and I'm still learning!
Thank you, Nicole - I really enjoyed your video! I laughed when you said "I really like Hoyas" as if you were apologizing.🤣 Do you move any of your hanging Hoya away from the windows in the winter? I would like to hang some similarly to how you have them, but I'm afraid the coolness near the window may be too much. (I am in Chicago so we have a fairly similar climate. ) Thank you!
@@tonyweyers1381 I'm glad you enjoyed it! Good observation on my "I really like hoyas" 😂 the back story on this is that I had friends trying to get me into them for years and I said i would never get into the rabbithole because I was already deep in the orchid rabbithole 😂. I eventually did, and it was just that, a rabbithole and I keep getting more, so it's been a slippery slope lol. I only move my Hoya from the windows when the light is reduced on them, otherwise I keep them in my east facing windows year round :) the heat here is strong enough where they aren't affected, but I would Google the ones you have to make sure they don't need very hot temps year round just to be sure. If they can tolerate say 60-65 if imagine they can stay by the window :)
Hello, just watched your leaf cleaning video are you still using the same formula alcohol dish soap water and are u still wiping the underneath of orchids leaf or just top. Thank you so much :) just found your channel, love it ❤🌸
@@sunsetvibes556 thank you so much ❤️ once a month I pass water through the leaves to knock off any pests but if I'm noticing spider mites, I'll spray a solution of water, 10% alcohol, dish soap and a few drops of rosemary oil. I'm still experimenting with it and will make a video once I've seen how it affects the collection. TYSM for watching ❤️
Love love love your channel...always giving us consice info and all the before and after photos...my question is are rioot mealies the same as regular mealy bugs? I know root rot, but what is dry rot when a plant is still alive but not growing any more? Also, ive deen your success in different orchids and ive purchased different ones in our Ontario Orchid show here in Toronto Canada so i can follow your diverse collection, but theyre not doing anything for 5 months now....im getting impatient and maybe you can tell me how long i need to wait for any growth points? Ive looked after phalaenopsis for decades, so these new ones are not phalaenopses, i bought these because i got bored with the phalaenopsis, i wanted to try diffent orchids
TYSM for your kind comment. I'm new to these root mealies but from what I understand they are the same thing just in the media of the plants. Dry rot? Hmm, perhaps when the plant dies back? A lot of times this can happens to old growths and it's not a bad thing, its normal. As for the orchids you got 5 months ago, sometimes they take time to adapt. If they are coming from a greenhouse to an indoor environment they need some time to acclimate - though now that it's summer in Toronto, provided your indoor conditions are warm, most cattleyas and others would start to wake up and give you some new roots by now - you should start seeing new growth points soon if you haven't already - make sure they are watered thoroughly but fully drain so there's no root rot and the roots stay healthy (I'm sure you are doing this already but just wanted to make sure). Also make sure if you got cattleyas they are getting brighter indirect light more than the phals. You should see growths soon, and don't sweat it, it's normal for them to stall. Just think about it, they came from a greenhouse "SPA" with 80% humidity most likely to an indoor environment with 30% humidity. You got this, they will adapt and grow soon
My Khroniana doesn’t grow at all since I got it from a vendor at Etsy. In fact the leaves start to shrivel and die off. I have a Krimson Princess the same time and it grows much better. Any advice how to revive the dying hoya? Thanks!
Check out my oncidium care video :) They like good moisture and don't want to dry out for long periods of time but can't stay in sopping wet conditions either. Mixture of bark + moss or just fluffy moss (if the pot is small) works well for me.
@@remafreij6361 yeah you just have to find out what works best for you in your environment. It works well for me, but that's not the case for everyone. Some folks love coconut husk and it doesn't work for me.
