An interesting thing to note is that the holographic sight will, for some weird reason, give the AK-47 the same amount of wall penetration as if it had FMJ on (minus the visual effect FMJ has obviously), so the holographic sight is essentially two attachements in one. It's the best choice if you don't use a suppressor. It's obviously a bug and is still left unpatched to this day. Similarly, the holographic sight slightly increases the FAL's base damage by 5 points making it a two-shot kill at any distance even with a suppressor, and a one shot headshot still at all distances. Using Bling and pairing the holographic sight with a suppressor is incredibly deadly. Yet another thing about that weird glitchy sight is that it also massively reduces recoil on the M16A4, making it more accurate than the Famas at all ranges. Yeah, the holographic sight sure is a strange thing in this game.
Mw2 attachments and guns were actually strangely peculiar. In addition to the glitches you already named, there are also some guns with misaligned sights, silencers that didn't silence, and a few others that I can't think of at the moment. I kind of liked it to be honest. It added a little extra spice to the game
XboxAhoy, I just wanted to thank and congratulate you for one of the most in-depth and consistent weapon guides on the Internet; I've seen quickie guides that cover broad categories such as "Shotguns" and "Machine Pistols', but never would I expect a guide that covered each individual weapon to such a meticulate degree (1000 AK kills just for this one video? That, my friends, is dedication). Badass accent, slick style and pro-level gameplay make this the best series on TH-cam. Ahoy!
The thing i find the most funny about CoD is that FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) ammo is the standard ammo used, for all firearms. Its the only ammo the US is allowed to be Anti-personnel use. It does make it stronger compared to HP (Hollow Point) and SP (Soft Point) ammunition, so saying that FMJ makes a weapon stronger is incorrect. due to the fact that you'd be using it in a combat scenario anyways. The reason that you wouldnt want to use HP and SP ammo is that they cant punch threw much, but the 7.62x39 fired from an AK style rifle would punch through anything pretty much....
@Sjunneh It'll be done when it's done. Still getting to grips with the game at the minute, and unlocking stuff - should be a marathon session this weekend. After that, I'd expect another 1-2 weeks wait to get the new format finalised and produced. Following that, should be a new video every week or so.
Thank you very much for that series, I feel it really aided my gameplay in MW2. It certainly opened my play style to several more weapons, and I really liked the way it was presented. First you begin with a short history of the weapon, then move on to attachments and perks to be used, and finally the flaws. As a further bonus, you don't seem hugely opinionated on any one gun or play style. I love it, and thank you yet again.
What a load of waffle lol, just as many players camped back in MW2 as they do now. In fact I’d argue that MW2 was the most camped CoD because of all the glitches and spots you could get to.
I have noticed since cod 4 that all the weapons if used correctly are good.....and xbox ahoy is the one that truly understands this...he uses even the worst weapons to make content
The sway can be a bigger problem than XboxAhoy implied, especially at range. This is particularly apparent when compared to the TAR-21, which (with attachments) shoots faster, but is also superior for long range. This gun is honestly not bad just naked, so that getting long range kills are easier. FMJ's not a big deal in MW2 where people die near-instantaneously, and the sights are for the most part just decoration.
I love this gun, in my opinion it's the coolest version of te AK that's ever been on the cod series, and i love having the grenade launcher on it because it just looks special :)
KRIMZONMEKANISM Fact: it's the only assault rifle in MW2 that's uses the launcher specifically made for it (in this case, the GP-25 on the AK-47. Everything else runs the M203, which should only apply for American weapons, and even then, doesn't always apply).
I imagine this dude sitting down in his chair playing Call of Duty laughing and swearing rubbing Cheetos dust all over his shirt. Then sits down to record a video, clears his throat and says hello welcome back to another weapon guide video.
I mean, he may have been using a soft aimbot for the testing purposes. I know other weapon guide TH-camrs have done it before, but back then Ahoy was definitely better than your average player.
DucklingOnCrack That's the ironic thing. The Russian military still hasn't worn out their AK 74's, so they have no need to buy any of the AK 100 series, let alone the AN94. They're kind of being forced to use the AK 12 from what I've read. Literally destroying perfectly good AK's so the company doesn't go out of business.
do you see me? well, you can't cuz i can't see you nah waw did cause they actually recorded real gun sounds so they're somewhat most accurate Also mg42, ppsh41 were beastly sounding guns
At 3:40 and a little beyond where he's saying that most engagements occur at middle to close range, not at long, is the philosophy of assault rifles when they were first created.
ShadeSlayer1911 I'd take balance over Realism. Imagine if all guns were one hit kills (to vital organs, obviously a 9x19mm to the foot won't kill anyone) and has realistic trajectory. Even Battlefield doesn't have one hit kills, although I do very much enjoy Battlefield realistic physics in its engine that Call of Duty lacks. But having guns programmed exactly like their real life counterparts would be a balancing nightmare. The developers try to be realistic in terms of Rate of Fire, and mimicking damage. Like the M4A1 across the CoD series has generally been a low damaged assault rifle, because it fires 5,56x45mm; as in the AK-47 (even though pretty much every appearance of the AK-47 is incorrect, CoD4 was really the only one to match the in-game model with the true AK, MW2's is actually an AK-103 with Picatinny rails, Black Ops is actually a Type-56 [used by Viet Cong] or a AKM [used by Russians], and MW3's is a mocked up AK-103) the AK has been a higher damage weapon for firing the larger 7,62x39mm. But obviously CoD has much different gamestyle than Battlefield, and I's like them being different than being the same generic game (although every CoD after MW3 was a huge disappointment to me, I'm more into Battlefield now). Battlefield balences too for damage, I'm sure most BF players don't want another BF3 USAS. *TL;DR* Balance is good. If they weren't balanced people would endlessly complain about OP guns.
If the guns were realistic, it would play like Arma. The AK would do the same damage as sniper rifles as they make the same size hole as it punctures flesh and leaves the body unless you are dealing with distances beyond 500 yards which the sniper rifle is intended to be used. Pistol ammo that doesn't over penetrate would have more stopping power than an assault rifle bullet that rips through flesh, unless the bullet tumbles at its ideal range. It would be easier just to give guns an incapacitation percentage instead of damage and a death countdown till you bleed out.
The AK is the last assault rifle you unlock? In Modern Warfare you got it right off the bat when you hit rank 4, create a class. Ah, such wonderful memories.
in these episodes i think you should address the uses of them in Search and Destroy because the use for ammo and other factors chance drastically seeing as how short each round is.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. The AK47 in every incarnation has been awesome. I never played COD4 but i've seen videos. In MW2, it's my 2nd favorite rifle after the ACR. It's my favorite in Black Ops and it's my tied for favorite in MW3 with the ACR 6.8. I love using the AK47
Naked ak was also the best hard core gun. The recoil was just tight enough to insure you get one bullet on target, and loose enough that even if you are off a little bit, you will land one on target. And, it's perfect for long range, especially with zero idle sway. You can hold down an area soo well
The AK's 3 hit kill only extends a couple meters/yards further. The high recoil and low rate of fire is outclassed by all assault rifles except for the CM901. They have less recoil (which allows more shots to hit the target) and a faster ROF (which obviously drops people faster)
I'd actually recommend going with no attachments on the AK. The sights aren't necessary once you get used to iron sights, and the others simply don't benefit you that much. With the idle sway added the AK is very difficult to use at very long range, but without it, it handles almost as well as the AK in Cod4.
well if you add a supressor to the the ak47, that gun is just SOOO nice to use. like just adding a supressor will make it much effective when shooting i cant explain it but it works

I wish I could put fast-mags and a grip on it though, that would turn it into my dream gun (minus Magpul CTE stock)... ;(
No, the AK47 design is based off the MP-44 or STG-44 design. The STG-44 was the first assault rifle made by Nazi Germany, and Kalashnikov was a tank driver during WWII and got injured in battle. While he was in the hospital, he studied the STG -44's design and loved it. And thus, the Ak47 was born.
No AK-variant is supposed to have an M4 style stock like the one in game. But you can put one on if you want to and purchase the right parts, its called customization. No unmodified AK straight out of the factory looks like the one in game, not the AKM, not the AK74, not the AK-10X series and not the AK-12. Its a heavily customized AK47.
He's actually right though. The AN-94 is not influenced by AK designs in how it works at all, it's just the cosmetics that lend itself to being inducted into the AK family of rifles by some people. It's otherwise an entirely different and complex design.
The M21 is the sniper variant of the M14. The M21 EBR is just the name they use to let you know that it's the sniper variant of the MK14 Mod0 (since it is classified as a sniper in MW2). In MW3, it's an assault rifle, so it's called the MK14.
That happened in COD4 as well, the red dot and silencer both lowered the damage at range and now they add idle sway, just great another way to weaken the weapon
and the ACR is also outclassed by the M4A1. when used with Stability its perfect! lowest recoil of the game next to the M14 and a high fire rate. perfection! :D

And thus, the Ak47 was born.
so cool to stumble upon this video as im playing the reboot haha
Glad to see people are still watching this in 2016
I don't even play any CoD games,I just like his voice.
Here ends our magical journey through time, riddled with nonsensical arguments, nostalgic sighs and despising the present.
The soviets never tried to copy the STG-44 german rifle. Mikhail kilashkinov himself said he never even thought of the stg 44 when production
In BO1 it is the AK-47, as the AN-94 wasn't conceived back then. The AN-94 is an AK variant.
The M21 is the sniper variant of the M14. The M21 EBR is just the name they use to let you know that it's the sniper variant of the MK14 Mod0 (since it is classified as a sniper in MW2). In MW3, it's an assault rifle, so it's called the MK14.
ill guide your guides are always dope beast clips
Actually the AK-12 is a new model that will be manufactured with iron rails on the top and sides for attachable sights and lights on the sides.
That happened in COD4 as well, the red dot and silencer both lowered the damage at range and now they add idle sway, just great another way to weaken the weapon
and the ACR is also outclassed by the M4A1.
when used with Stability its perfect! lowest recoil of the game next to the M14 and a high fire rate. perfection! :D
My favourite gun in MW2. It is so strong and still pretty accurate with the Iron Sights.
